Henry headed into the training room. He was eager, and fairly quick to learn, at least. Although things didn't always go as planned.
Neil just sat off to the side, glowering a bit. He didn't particularly want to go talk to Tina and be yet again reminded that his father decided to try again. |
As soon as the lesson was over, Gold dismissed Henry and started to head for the kitchen. Tea sounded wonderful, and he figured Tina wouldn't object to some, as well. He paused when he saw Neil glowering at the wall.
"Bae?" he asked. "Is something the matter?" |
Neil looked at him for a moment. "I'm not sure you've changed enough," he said, apparently apropos of nothing. "For another child."
|
That made Gold stop.
"Bae, where is this coming from?" he asked. "I'm doing my best, you know I am." |
"I know you've changed some," Neil granted him. "But I've been watching you these past months. Are you sure you're ready for another child?" Because he wouldn't let another have his childhood.
|
Gold was quiet for a moment.
"Perhaps it might be best to discuss this elsewhere," he finally said. He glanced pointedly at Henry, very obviously implying without your son right here. |
Neil scowled a little but nodded and motioned for Gold to lead the way.
Henry watched them, uncomfortable and already sort of wishing he was somewhere else. He had the feeling this was about to get very messy. |
Gold nodded and gestured to a side room. He closed the door behind them once Neil was inside. Even through the door, though, it was obvious that they had escalated pretty quickly to yelling at one another.
|
Henry was quickly very uncomfortable and wishing himself somewhere else rather hard. So when magic pulsed through the house with Gold's anger, he vanished.
It took him a moment to reorient himself, and then he blinked and looked around. He was in a room that seemed to be... swaying? And was made of wood? Weird. |
Up on deck, Rachel felt the burst of magic on the ship and stopped what she was doing. Cautiously, she flung out her own magic, searching for the disturbance.
|
Henry felt her do that, but he didn't respond. Partially because Gold had told him not to do things like that without something in mind, because Henry had a good imagination and could hypothetically make a lot happen. Instead, he set about finding out where he was and who the other magic-user was.
|
A bit wary, since there had been no response but she could still feel other magic on the ship, Rachel went to investigate. They were half-way to the dragon islands, there was nothing around them but open water, so she wasn't sure what was going on.
|
Henry managed to keep himself hidden, and it didn't take him long to realize he was on Hook's ship. He caught glimpses of the crew, and he could hear them, but by and large he kept himself out of sight. A stowaway on a pirate ship, always a good adventure.
|
Rachel followed her magic senses, trying to find the source of the new magic. Whatever it was, she needed to make sure it wasn't a danger to the crew or to Killian.
She followed the magic all the way to the hold, and began looking around. |
Henry kept out of sight, giving her time to look around and hoping she'd decide it was nothing. He didn't want to be found, not yet. If they found him, they'd turn around and go back.
|
When Rachel didn't immediately see anything, she reached out again with her magic. She frowned when she couldn't pinpoint where the foreign magic was coming from. She looked around a little more, and then reluctantly headed back up on deck when she didn't find anything.
|
Henry let out a little breath when she left and got down to exploring.
"Everything alright, love?" Hook asked, looking over at her when she reemerged. |
"I thought I sensed something in the hold," Rachel replied as she went over to him. "But I didn't find anything."
|
Hook frowned. "Maybe it was something temporary?" he guessed. "Either way, I think perhaps we should both pay attention for the next few days, in case anything is amiss."
|
Rachel nodded.
"I think that's a good idea," she agreed. "I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I find whatever it was." |
Hook nodded and for the moment returned his attention to keeping the crew in line and making sure everything ran smoothly.
|
Rachel went back to practicing some weather magic, but she still stayed alert for more unfamiliar magic on the ship. The strange thing was, she could have sworn it was something she was a bit more familiar with.
|
Henry, for his part, stayed quiet and out of the way for as long as he could, sneaking food from the galley and just enjoying his time as a stowaway.
|
A day and a half later, as they were getting close to the dragon islands, Rachel finally managed to track down the little blips of magic she'd been feeling on the ship. She finally found the source, back in a corner of the hold.
"Henry?" |
Henry looked at her and grinned sheepishly. "Hi?" he asked more than said. "...You're not going to kick me off the ship now are you?"
