Rachel blinked.
"What's this for?" she asked. She knew the story of Peter Pan already, although she could see why he would be interested in it. |
"I made notes," Hook said with a smirk. "Because it appears no one can get the story right. Ever."
Rachel raised an eyebrow.
"You do realize that it's just a story to everyone outside of this town, right?" she asked as she flipped through the pages. Indeed, there were notes in the margins everywhere, alongside some strikethroughs and crossouts. |
"I am perfectly aware," Hook replied with dignity. "Just because we know better does not mean we have to lower ourselves to their standards, however. I personally would rather know the truth than half-truths and assumptions."
"Nobody outside of town believes that there's anything more to it," Rachel replied, reading some of the notes. "It's just a story for kids." She glanced at him. "There are a few movies, you know. Some live-action, some animated. Might be a good way to pass the time."
"I know, I've seen a few of the movies," Hook said with a shrug. "They are decent enough, I suppose." But of course he was going to be critical.
"Meaning you only swore at them half the time rather than the whole time," Rachel teased. As soon as she realized she was teasing him, she stopped and turned faintly pink.
Hook grinned slowly. "Perhaps," he said, watching her. "You could always watch with me for comparison purposes."
"You wouldn't like watching movies with me, I talk and make jokes," Rachel replied, turning her face back to her work to try to hide the blush. "Not even Tina really likes watching movies with me, unless we've both seen them before."
Hook chuckled. "Yes, and I criticize and swear and make fun of the mistakes," he pointed out. "Sounds like we'd be well amused for the duration of the movie."
"If we didn't want to strangle each other first," Rachel pointed out in return. She looked at him, blush mostly under control. "So why are you here, anyways?"
Hook shrugged. "I thought I would check to see if you got what I left for you a few days ago," he said easily.
"The list and the ridiculously valuable medallion?" Rachel asked. She quirked a bit of a grin. "I was impressed with the movie reference."
"You did point me at them, love," Hook said with a grin. "Although I'll admit I am curious to hear your commentary on those movies."
"What, the Pirates of the Caribbean series?" Rachel asked. She grinned. "Orlando Bloom was pretty. Very pretty." She paused, then added, "he played the role of Will Turner."
"Ah, him," Hook said, nodding briefly. "Yes, at least the actors were decent in those movies."
"Johnny Depp is an amazing actor," Rachel said. "Remind me to find some of his other movies for you, his range of characters is kind of impressive." Again, she added as an afterthought, "the actor for Jack Sparrow."
Hook nodded. "I'll watch them if you watch at least one of the Pirates movies with me."
"You'll watch a Johnny Depp movie if I watch a Pirates movie?" Rachel asked warily. It was too good to pass up. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, then. In exchange for On Stranger Tides."
"Deal." Hook grinned. "Since this was my bargain, I will let you pick when and where is most convenient for you."
Rachel thought for a moment. She didn't want to do it at the library; she didn't want to bother Belle.
"My place," she finally said. "Friday night. Tina won't be home." |
Hook nodded. "Sounds like a date," he said cheerily. "I'll let you get back to your organizing, and I'll see you Friday, love." He grinned at her.
Rachel blinked and blushed.
"It isn't a date!" she called after him. "It's just--" she stopped. She didn't have a word for it, but it was most certainly not a date. |
Hook just grinned and kept walking, waving at her over his shoulder.
Now he was looking forward to Friday evening. |
Rachel wasn't sure if she was looking forward to Friday evening or not, but it ended up rushing up on her anyways. So when she got out of work on Friday, she went home and made sure she had the movies ready, along with some leftovers that Tina made sure to leave for her.
