"Several things, I suspect," Gold replied with a shrug. "Although first and foremost is that she dislikes any form of competition. Anyone who shows sufficient magical potential is competition for her."
"Yourself included," Tina surmised. "And clearly she's the type of person to get your attention through me." She shivered briefly.
"Indeed," Gold said. "Hence why I don't want to going too far by yourself."
"I get that, but..." Tina shrugged. "I don't know if I can help it, Gold. I'm starting to get cabin fever."
Gold was quiet for a moment. He had a plan, but it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow, at the earliest.
"Can we discuss it later?" he asked finally. "For now, I'd rather like to enjoy your cooking." |
Tina blinked, startled. "Yeah, sure, sorry," she said quietly, moving back into the kitchen to do some cleaning.
While Tina puttered around the kitchen again, Gold was already plotting how to put his plan into action.
Tina ended up staying up with him for a while, having convinced him to settle on the couch in front of the fire for a bit. She hesitated for a few moments before curling up next to him, still not quite sure what she was allowed to do.
Gold didn't make any move to stop her, and only moved slightly so she wasn't resting on his bad leg. To be honest, he could very easily get used to that.
Tina settled in there for a while and ended up falling asleep with her head on his shoulder, still curled comfortably against his side.
Once Gold was sure Tina was sound asleep, he carefully magicked her upstairs and into her own bed. Then he set to work putting his plan into action. This was one of those times he was grateful the Dark One didn't need such mundane things as sleep; he could work through the night and be fine come morning.
Tina woke later than normal, yawning as she made her way downstairs and going to go make breakfast. She knew Gold would show up sometime before breakfast; he always did. So she wasn't concerned that he wasn't around.
And of course she hadn't bothered to go look around so she had no idea what he'd done last night. |
About an hour after Tina woke up, Gold made his way back inside.
"Good morning," he greeted her as he walked into the kitchen. |
"Morning." Tina shot him a smile. "Breakfast is ready. I was about to go looking for you, actually." She nodded to the stack of pancakes on the kitchen table.
"There was something that required my attention," Gold said as he sat down.
Tina nodded and sat across from him, taking a few pancakes before settling in to eat, and then go finish up the dishes once she was done.
"Sorry about last night. I didn't mean to fall asleep on you. Again." |
"Don't worry about it," Gold replied. He worked through his breakfast steadily, and went to wash his own dishes afterwards. "Tina, if you would, there's something I'd like you to see," he said once everything was cleaned up.
Tina blinked. "Sure," she said after a moment, looking at him. "What is it?"
"You'll see," Gold said, gesturing for her to follow him.
Tina made a face at him but followed him outside, stopping when they got out to the back, her eyes wide.
"Is that...?" she asked, unable to finish the sentence. |
"A greenhouse," Gold replied, nodding. "Do you like it?"
"I... this is amazing, Gold." Tina moved inside slowly, glancing around. She could easily fit everything she needed in here. "When did you get this done?"
"When I did it isn't important," Gold said. "Just that I did." He was quiet for a moment. "Of course, it does need to be tested, to make sure everything will suffice."
Tina turned to grin at him. "All I need are some clippings and some seeds," she said, excited now. She moved back over to him, taking his free hand. "Thank you. Really."
"It was my pleasure," Gold replied, smiling a bit at her.
