Hey, you updated chapter 3, yay! And the plot thickens. I'm loving the mystery and the whole 'all seeing eye' thing. Ah, Captain Chester. You're writing him perfectly! It seems fitting that he'd notice their rings and be so accepting. I love that guy. Oh, and I'm so glad Snowy FINALLY got something to eat ;D Pub fish and chips, lovely. *gasp* Tintin is drinking alcholol. Actually, I was giggling when Haddock was trying to persuade him and glad he accepted. I guess Tintin likes ale/beer, after all he did order a pint in the Scottish pub during his Black Island adventure. Thanks for updating and I'm so intrigued to see what happens next.

No problem, I just posted the second half, I wait 5 hours so I can keep the Chapters in 2 parts just so it doesn't look so overwhelming. Yea more intrigue will follow soon lol heheheheh.

Yes, the rings, Captain Chester is an old friend of Haddock so he's no stranger to this, but of course he would not share it with anyone he didn't know. Well pubs are generally around most places, but slightly out of place but not too far removed from England lol. Yes, Tintin is 25 now and of course he will drink some but he is very much in control and usually knows what he's getting into lol. He has developed a liking for good tasting ales.

I'm glad you're enjoying it I will try not to disappoint anyone lol :)

I'm certain you won't! I just read chapter 4 part A. This just gets better and better. Tintin's nightmare was pretty powerful prose. Poor guy. I enjoyed it though. And oh my Gosh, the imagery of the three of them drunk/passed out/asleep on the sofa, why do I find that so funny? :D And the disguises, and the photo, nice touch! Now I can't wait for the next part. Thanks for writing this :)

As long as I know there are awesome folks out there like you, I won't lose my inspiration. I'm halfway through the second half of chapter four. Hopefully I will get it ready by tonight. I changed the structure of the paragraphs to make it easier to follow the dialogue.

The nightmares are becoming a reoccurring theme for Tintin which is creating self doubt and starting to rattle him some. Yea, they all got pretty drunk... of course Chester and Haddock are pro's at this-- Tintin-- not so much...lol

Yes-- a wealth of history to draw on for Haddock and Chester. I'm going to explore that a little bit. Feel free to hit me up in here as much as you like.

I read some more of Golden Crab and there was a seen where Tintin rescues Haddock but because Haddock was so happy to see Tintin he immediately ran over to embrace him and caused tintin to drop the gun and of course complicated their escape a little but nothing they couldn't over come.

Another example of Herge getting Captain Haddock to express his feelings for Tintin.

Ms Unicorn 11-25-2012 08:02 PM

Yeah, it always helps to know you have an audience ^^

Nightmares are a pretty common thing in Herge's comics so this fits nicely in your story. Ahaha, yes I guess Chester and Haddock are pros, and a bad influence on Tintin, hehehehe. It's great to see so much of Chester, I always thought he was a wonderful character.

Captain often expressed his feelings, but Tintin was always more reserved (until it came to Chang in Tibet). I like Crab With The Golden Claws since there's a lot of evidence in that book to support the theory of Haddock and Tintin being attracted to each other, but you have to read between the lines.

There was a frame when when they got in the desert where it really look like Herge has Tintin and Haddock are holding hands going into the desert.

Herge leaves it open in Picarous when Tintin shows up in South America and Haddock asked him what made him change his mind... and tintin mysertiously says -- "Let's just say I was missing you captain" and Herge does not allow the reader to see tintin's face when he replies.

I don't have a copy of Golden Claws so I can't check, but I'm fairly sure they ARE holding hands ^^

Picaros is one of my favourite books :D Yes, that part where Tintin admits he was missing him always sticks in my mind. My friends and I had great fun wildly speculating over the scenes in that particular comic. Some moments really stand out where you just think, "can Tintin and the Captain get any more domestic here?" They behave like a married couple! :D

I agree and as a matte of fact here is an article that if anyone tries to say Tintin is not gay at all and has no chance of it have them read this. It is a well researched essay and I could add a little to it, which puts more evidence that yes, there it is, but the writer says why he didn't out tintin.

http://christthegaymartyr.blogspot.c...-part-one.html

This article is well written!

Ms Unicorn 11-25-2012 09:00 PM

I've read that before and you're right, it's a great article! There's so much evidence to support Tintin being gay (and Haddock too), but some Tintin fans get really angry of you suggest it. I'm convinced though and I suspect Herge knew exactly what he was doing, especially in the later books when he was older.

I don't remember that part though. What did he say about why he didn't out Tintin?

Well before Herge died, the media decided to ask Herge the rumored question about Tintin's sexuality, being smart for the times he said no. The author of the article suggests why, the times of course, it would of been on the banned books list because fundamentalist would of made a huge deal about it and of course it could of been a lot of speculation about Herge himself. If I would of been Herge I would of done the same thing and just left it as it was for the readers sophisticated enough to read between the lines as we have done.

That makes sense. As much as I wish Herge had not taken the truth to his grave, I understand now why he did it. The very fact that the question was raised in the first place speaks volumes. There's no smoke without fire, so they say. Yeah, I guess Herge knew that discerning readers would see the truth without needing it confirmed ^^

Well I really would like to know the person's gender he had an affair with back in 1947 when he had the "nervous breakdown"... it mentions the gender of all the other known affairs he had at least the female ones... but back then gay men married too.

Ms Unicorn 11-26-2012 09:18 AM

Chapter 4 part B, oh my gosh that was exciting :D Don't mess with Tintin and his posse. I loved it. Aaaand... ALLAN is there. I squealed, literally. Allan is a great bad guy and I'm happy to see him in this.

I haven't heard about that.... unless you're referring to his affair with Fanny? He ended up divorcing his wife and marrying Fanny as I'm sure you already know, but I didn't know about any other affair so I can't help you answer that question..... And the only nervous breakdown I read about was during the time he wrote Tintin in Tibet, but again, that was when he was going through the affair and divorce. Have you read any biographies about Herge?

An acquaintance who is a professor read some material in French and accordingly he had an affair with someone and it wasn't fanny, it was some unknown person which the editors would not reveal... my professor seems to think he was having a love affair with another man and that's eventually what caused his breakdown according to him.

I read bits and pieces online trying to research it, perhaps I will break down and buy a book.
Did you get to read the rest of chapter four yet?

Sorry I'm blind-- yes Allan has come out of hiding now...Tintin has become a lot more of a formidable adversary to his enemies.

Hmm, that's really interesting! I guess a biography might have more details, but obviously we'll never know who the person was... not unless they're still alive and come out to the media one day, but that's extremely doubtful.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to chapter 5! :D

How true, I'm sure they must of paid that person off to stay quiet if that indeed was the case.

Well you're in luck, I just finished the first half of Chapter five, so enjoy!

I see you got another outfit! Nice and classy LOL!!

Ms Unicorn 11-27-2012 09:11 AM

Yay! Chapter 5 part A was really good. It's nice to see the three of them having some fun too. For a second I really thought they were going to throw Tintin overboard, lol! Sweeping him off his feet, hehe, your Captain Haddock is rather charming I must say ^^

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I got a few other folks reading it too. I needed to go back earlier and edit a couple things such as calling the the levels on a ship decks instead of floors, and had to re-imagine the little ship, it's not huge just like a normal sized yacht with 2 decks. There were a few other mistakes-- I'm sure there were a few others I kind of rushed through as I was feeling a creative surge.

I'm going to try to finish chatper 5 today, not sure for how long I can keep this pace moving. It shouldn't be too hard.
Haddock too wanted to lighten the mood after discussing the dark dealings and treachery of Gaspar.

I just posted the second half to chapter 5, it's a little shorter than the others but hopefully you will enjoy it as well.

Ms Unicorn 11-28-2012 08:54 PM

Yay, the rest of chapter 5 was great. I see Allan is still suitably villainous :D Your fic is really enjoyable to read. Haha, Captain and Chester are on the whisky again! They just can't help themselves. Good to hear you've got some other followers for the story. They should leave some comments here ^^ Yeah, you've been on a roll with the pace you've been writing. You must be feeling super inspired. Be careful you don't burn yourself out though.

I really enjoy writing and discussing situations and other issues, such as grammatical errors or things that aren't consistent so I can correct them.

Allan has a lot of rage for Haddock-- as Gaspar for Chester...
Yes, Chester hides behind the bottle too a bit but can manage himself better than his friend.

I'm trying not to get too adult with some of the themes, but Tintin is now 25, and he's seen and done a lot now. So when things gets dark, they get dark, at the same time-- life goes on, Tintin and Haddock still have to keep their relationship secret just because, only those closest to them know.

Of course you got new characters such as Enzo-- which I'm not quite sure just what role he will play in all of this-- Tintin got to know him a bit better and a bit about his past. I'm going to start Chapter 6 tonight...

After I finish Chapter 6 I may take a small couple days off to write more on my maplestory which I have been neglecting greatly.

Well if you have other friends on fanfiction, get them over here too! :)
Again I always enjoy reading your posts!

I just finished the rest of Chapter 6, I hope you and everyone enjoys !

Ms Unicorn 12-01-2012 08:13 PM

Aww, thanks so much for the dedication *hugs* Chapter 6 was amazing! :D Allan's gang of villains is growing I see, and at last some of the mystery surrounding the All Seeing Eye is being unravelled. Gosh, demons and aliens! Most intriguing. Hmm... Any mention of Allan and aliens in the same sentence instantly makes me think of Flight 714! That was one of my favourite adventures *remembers fondly* (And I always wondered what might have become of the arch enemy, Rastapopoulos. Something of an alien nature I always believed). But I have so many favourites it's hard to pick just one. It was also really lovely to get a little insight into Calculus's life and his thoughts on Tintin and Haddock's relationship. I'm so happy you gave him the flashback from 'Picaros' *fangirl moment* and of course, his thoughts about his own past and present loneliness. Sweet little Calculus, he's so adorable. And as for the evening on the Shooting Star, what can I say? It was so much fun to read! First the fishing which was really entertaining, and then the lot of them frying up a fish and chip supper. Yummy :D And of course the retelling of the ghost story. It was really fun to see the story told again in another setting with mention of Tintin hearing it before at the camp out. I loved the way you made Captain tell it in your words. And I have to say that Chester's reaction was so funny at the end when Haddock scared the life out of Tintin and Enzo XD "I got you again, landlubber." That made me giggle. Ah, and the ending was very sweet. Now I can't wait to find out more about the cult and, of course, Tintin's origins :D

I'm in the middle of writing the beginning of Chapter 7.
I really enjoy reading your feedback, it's awesome when someone tells they like what you wrote but even moreso when they give specifics. It seems popularity is growing with this story as it is getting many views?

Things are beginning to start to take shape, although I'm carefully choosing the material-- but the 7 Crystals and Flight 747 had elements that were somewhat science fiction and supernatureal... so since Herge did it, I figure throwing in a bit of that will make it more intriguing.

Calculus is definitely aware, but it took him a long time to realize it since his mind is full of ideas and equations lol. Calculus is the silly professor but also like a grandfatherly kind of role as well.

Well I didn't want to skip all of the events that go on because I wanted to give readers a chance to connect with the characters. I wanted to put your story in my own words rather than copy and pasting your work, I thought that would just be lame. Your work stands on its own merit! I felt a dedication to your thoughts and ideas was appropriate as I clocked it as a couple years before the present time in the story. I consider Tintin and Haddock a conservative couple.

If anyone would ask Haddock, he would instantly get defensive and tell them to "Mind their own damn business" there would be no barnacles about it ;)

You saw how Tintin dealt with Enzo's innocent question as he is of course the more diplomatic one.

The story is slow moving only because there is so much expository information to cover, but not too much that it gives too much away.

Chapter seven may be a little shorter though.

Ms Unicorn 12-03-2012 07:01 PM

Hey, you posted another chapter! Great! :D I thought you were going to take a little break? Not that I'm complaining :D Far from it. Nice chapter and I was intrigued by Tintin's dream. It's all coming together now. Hmm, I wonder what Lento's special skill is. And the mention of the ouji board, ooh, things are getting quite supernatural and serious now. Great writing as usual :D

Hi btw here's an original piano piece.
The Mirror (Original Composition) - YouTube

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Well I'm going to continue to write little bit by bit...writing a half chapter makes it a bit easier to accomplish smaller goals and this chapter was a bit shorter than the last.

It's coming to him slowly but surely-- he wants to remember now-- there's still a lot of mystery surrounding the cult and tintin's dreams-- but he can't quite place the memories.
I'm glad you enjoyed, let's see if I can continue to keep it interesting.

More exposition material coming up so the story does move a bit slowly but I like to put a little substance in all the characters just incase I need to come back and take the story in a different direction if I need to.
