I mean come on, I was so close, I just had two more copies which had already been reserved by two friends, and then steam gives me more invites D: and the portal cd thingy I got for my brother came with two invite keys also and now I'm just like...:stares:

If anything i just want to give away the two invite keys that I got from the cd because I know I'll lost the papers with the codes if I don't give them away first [sweat]

Admonish Misconstruction 02-07-2013 09:41 AM

Someone gave me two copies of DOTA x3. I have a spare sitting in my Steam inventory if anyone wants it.

Risque - I don't really care for the Steam achievements sharing a Steam account can work out pretty well, unless if it's a co-op game you want to play together.

I try to save myself from the daily deals by not looking at them. I have so many games to play, many that I know I'll never play (unfortunately.) The only games I bought during the Winter Sale were Anno 2070, Hitman Absolution, and Psychonauts. Someone gifted me Max Payne 3, which was quite enjoyable. What a well told gritty, dark, and engaging story.

I will take a copy I suppose. Not looking forward to playing with all the Russians though, haha.

@ admonished nonsense (i love typing it all out, lower case letters and all. [mrgreen]): You know I hadn't even thought about sharing the steam account. This whole time I was focused on just hopping onto his computer. o_o thankfully my boyfriend likes to 100% his games so I don't have to worry about achievement whoring out the games on his account. >:D

Daily deals are no big deal when you have big ass sales that last for way longer and give you time to think about buying..

I've never played any of the Max Paynes. 0:

Between my boyfriend and I we've bought Jagged Alliance 2 three times.. one is a store retail version, and two copies on Steam for each of our accounts. [gonk]

Admonish Misconstruction 02-07-2013 10:53 AM

My username being all lowercase was actually a mistake on my part x3. I guess when I made the account. A side effect of typing too fast and not paying attention.

If you're close to someone it's pretty easy, the only annoyance is that you have to get the account registered with that computer (the email, the code, and all.) 99% of my gaming is single-player so having the account on offline mode doesn't really bother me.

Well, at least you don't have to worry about it. My girlfriend is a zealous when it comes to achievements, I like my play styles and don't really care whether or not it gives me achievements.

The problem is I spend so much. I still have a dozen games I have not even downloaded that I purchased during the last summer sale. A little money goes so far during those sales though. I'm tempted to pick up the Alan Wake series, it's 75% off. The Witcher 2 is on sale as well, temptations... temptations... temptations... do I want to eat this week or not eat this week?

I have only played Max Payne 3 and I found that the game did a very good job bringing me up to speed. The voice acting was what really got me, James McCaffrey is superb.

You'll never be wanting! Is Jagged Alliance any good? It sort of reminds me of Commandos.

Arkkath 02-07-2013 08:20 PM

I've got 5 Dota 2 invites just sitting there collecting dust.
If anyone wants one, let me know.

Risque 02-07-2013 09:59 PM

@ admonished nonsense: Oooh, offline mode. How exploitable~

Achievements are a good substitute for personal goals though. I find that I really don't care either how I progress through a game but if there's an achievement tied to a certain task it's like, "ey, why the hell not?"

Ehh, do you ever find yourself buying less and less on Steam sales? I find that I picked up most of what i wanted in the first two sales I was ever at. You may find yourself slowing down on all the buying, haha.

Jagged Alliance is fun. Good ol' tactical role playing, and yeah it's got that whole military theme to it too, if ya dig that. There was a new one that recently came out, but I dunno if it's any good. D:

The Wandering Poet 02-08-2013 01:41 AM

Dota 2 copies? So dota doesn't cost money?

Aoi Kazuya 02-08-2013 01:54 AM

uhhh that is a very good question actually

---------

I've still got one physical dota 2 key and like two or three more digital invites. anybody want? i at least wanna get rid of the physical code cause i'll lose it otherwise >.>

Risque 02-08-2013 08:20 AM

Lol DOTA 2 is practically f2p because of the availability of keys.

Admonish Misconstruction 02-09-2013 04:27 AM

There's so many DOTA 2 keys. Nobody will need to purchase it ever again.

Risque - It is, it is. I haven't really taken advantage of it lately.

When I played my Xbox 360 I was very much into getting the achievements. For some reason I don't bother with achievements on Steam games. I don't know if it's because I've grown out of it, that I don't have anyone to compete with, or whatnot. Now I set personal goals which sometimes grant me achievements, sometimes not. For example, I'm playing Deus Ex as a pacifist.

I think it's maybe because I need to save the money xD. I wish my rent paid for itself though... COME ON RENT. I believe in you. What happened to you might be happening to me, maybe it's because I shouldn't buy any more when I have so many to finish.

Yeah, I think I've seen it showing up on the sales (maybe the Winter sale?.) I wanna look it up, I like those sort of games.

Aoi Kazuya 02-09-2013 05:08 AM

I don't think I've ever purposely set out to gain achievements in my games. I just get them randomly or if the people I'm playing with want to get them, but i don't have any really recent games since i don't buy them much :/ I guess I'm still relatively new to pc gaming so i don't know what's good to play or not.

anyway, are we really gonna make a community?

Risque 02-09-2013 05:35 AM

I think that in the case of playing Deus Ex without using lethal tactics is something worth getting an achievement for. I dunno if it's just me, but something like that really shows dedication and that you know the ins and outs of the game.. but it's definitely worth doing even without an official achievement.
But with Half-Life 2 I would never willingly go through Ravenholm using just the gravity gun... so I am glad that my boyfriend is enough of an achievement whore to get that achievement for me. [mrgreen]

@ admonished nonsense: You should try out Jagged Alliance. It's sooo tactical and cool, like Call of Duty for people without ADD. [cool] I'd so play it right now but I have a million other games on steam to play, WHOOPS.

Steam is so good at making people feel bad for not playing the games they buy.. D:

@ Aoi: I guess we could. It would be neat if we got a staff member to make it official, like the tumblr and DA pages. [shock]

Aoi Kazuya 02-09-2013 05:36 AM

ooh that would be cool.

then should i assume you're one of the people who are excited about the steam box?

Admonish Misconstruction 02-09-2013 08:35 AM

Aoi - What I've done is simply wait until a game I want to play is on sale. Then, if I don't like it? Meh, I payed half the price so it's half the loss. If it wasn't for the sales I wouldn't have as many games as I do. I've played a lot of good games and 90% I've gotten them on sale ^^.

Risque - Yeah, I think there might be an achievement... I know Hitman has some achievements related to not killing anyone but the target. Sometimes though when I'm frustrated I like just busting some people up.

XD Make him do all the heavy lifting.

I'll get it next time on sale, watched a review, looks pretty fun. Waaa. My desktops at my old place. I moved today so I just have my laptops. Blarghle wargle.

Yeaaaah.... there's this massive list of games I haven't played. I feel so bad about it.

Aoi Kazuya 02-09-2013 04:16 PM

ahhh, the steam sales are great....making me want to spend money and then my wallet cries, but then i can't because need money to buy school stuff :sigh:

I should probably use the desktop to game, but since it's in my parents room I don't like to, which leads to problems when I game on my laptop, but I've been gaming on it for a while now so i've just learned to deal with the low quality graphics and such

The Wandering Poet 02-10-2013 07:58 AM

So Dota is free if you get invited? o.o that's strange... I'm tempted... but I know I'll just get my butt kicked

Arkkath 02-10-2013 10:28 AM

Well, the game is technically still in beta, so what you're actually getting is a beta invite.
You can buy an invite, but I guess it was a steam christmas gift or something where everyone that already had access got like 6 free invites to send out.

And yeah, I do very much enjoy the game, but it's pretty harsh to new players, especially if you aren't used to moba game types. Thankfully though, the game does have bots you can go against, so you can learn. It also really helps if you play with someone who already has experience with the game, since it can be hard to pick up a lot of certain game mechanics right away.
A pretty big part of learning the game is really learning what all of the heroes do.

Risque 02-10-2013 10:40 PM

@ Aoi: I don't think I will be getting a Steam box, I plan on hooking my computer up to the TV with big picture mode. *___*

Aoi Kazuya 02-11-2013 12:41 AM

haha I do that now~ but I might consider the steam box when it comes out, only because my laptop has a really bad graphics card.

i got sent an invite a while back and I haven't touched Dota 2 since that first game, haha, i'm really bad at games like that so i couldn't grasp the idea even with my friends all trying to teach me, haha. so it ends up with me leaving the chatroom/deafening myself whenever my friends get started on their dota talk. but it doesn't hurt to try~

Risque 02-11-2013 07:43 AM

The steam box is a good option for you, just not so much for people with dedicated gaming PCs.. people with a MAC would benefit greatly too if it ever came out.

Oh yeah, I know that feeling haha. Pretty much all my old high school friends got sucked into some kind of MOBA and that was the end of that. I gots no more gaming buddies from High School haha.

Aoi Kazuya 02-11-2013 09:43 PM

I don't really game with my high school friends though I do have them on steam, mostly it's just with a group/community that i got to know after meeting one of them in summer school. They're a lot of fun to play with, but sometimes I wonder if I should try playing with other people sometimes, haha :)

Risque 02-11-2013 09:58 PM

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to try. xD

wagon 02-16-2013 05:47 AM

I need to stop making so many impulse purchases, damn steam sales. I just checked the value of my account and apparently I've purchased over $700 in games :O

Sleepy Anarchy 02-16-2013 02:04 PM

Same here. I went a little nuts during the summer sale. I just got a job and Steam was on sale at the same time.

My account is now worth $800.

caseyur 02-17-2013 12:06 AM

I usually play team fortress 2, counter strike, and terraria. Only fourty dollars all together there. Team fortress was free, but counter strike and terraria were both twenty dollars each. But they are well worth it! :D
