Isn't that how it works in Assassin's Creed? You start on the easy ones and train your way up! XD

Plus it would be awesome to start it as rumors in the first few posts, and then have the assassin kill progressively more powerful people.

I'm actually basing some of this off of what I've seen so far in Dishonored, which is an amazing game! [sweat] I don't know if you've seen it, but I think it's very steampunkish. :D

Exactly what I was talking about. It'll also be rather interesting because everyone will pretty much assume that it's the Arsenic family behind everything. ;)

I've wanted to play Dishonored for a while but never really gotten around to it. [cry] I have played Assassin's Creed though, and the series is fantastic.

Do any of you guys have any ideas for a religion system of the world? I was thinking monotheism fits best, considering that steampunk takes place in Victorian Era-esque settings. But apart from that, I'm having a bit of trouble thinking up different tenants and such. On the other hand, am I just putting too much weight behind this? Should we leave it vague intentionally?

I'd say leave it intentionally vague and kind of default to monotheism if necessary. Most of the action seems like it'll be pretty secular.

I did manage to get up the first few posts to the OOC! XD Now all I need to do is edit in information and get the actual roleplay up. :P Hopefully that will happen tomorrow. Also, in case you were wondering, I got the name from a series I've read. It's part of the fictional language and translates to the Game of Houses. In one city, even the most innocent acts are followed by intense speculation and politicking. :D It seemed to fit rather nice with our theme here.

Hey what origins should the characters names be? Again, I'm new to this, so I'm kind of wondering if it's just a free for all or if there's a kind of theme with it (English, Fantastical, etc)

The little germ of a character I'm developing I'm imagining as Russian, so I was thinking Allochka, but I don't want it to be too out of place or anything

Because of the steampunk, I'd kind of assumed English... but I love the idea of a Russian Mercury, so personally I'd run with it. If it winds up not quite fitting you can make it work with some background editing. Maybe you were adopted, or your mother was from another country.

I'm agreeing with Wyrm on this. :3 English names would be by far the most common, but most Western European names aren't that much of a stretch. Maybe the Mercury House could have some Russian heritage? Or they could be adopted like Wyrm suggested. :) I'm really up for whatever you come up with. :P

The tech part sounds about right... and my character loves it. He's going to be very much the absent-minded genius. I definitely see him working on flying machines as a hobby... in between all his other projects.
