The Dragons of Ilemintal
You are welcome to read this story/series of short stories, but please do not comment. I will like all comments on my page, or pm'd to me. The Land of Ilemintal is ruled over by Dragons of many shapes and sizes. Other mythical creatures seek refuge in the many forests and mountains of the Kingdom, hiding from the Mortals that War with one another and destroy nature. This Kingdom is enchanted, keeping any Mortal from discovering it. As long as the Dragons live, Ilemintal is safe from harm. The Dragons used to be the Guardians of the Earth, watching over each element and keeping the world in balance. A Great War broke out among the Dragons and Mortals, after the foolish Mortals rebelled against their nature-worshipping ways. They wanted science and technology, the Dragons wanted to keep the Old Ways true. The War had been a tie, the number of Dragons slain was equal to the number of Mortals. The remaining Dragons, wounded and ashamed of their losses, flew to the Creator, begging Them to have mercy on their nearly extinct race. Angry at the havoc the two had created, and the death and destruction below, The Creator blew hurricane winds, dragging the Dragons far away from their world. The Creator gave them their own land, a Kingdom meant solely for the Dragons. The Dragons lost their guardian powers, and the Mortals forgot about magic. After many years, the Dragons had an Uprising, one to other throw the Tyranical King Gryphon. This is their stories leading up to, during and after the Uprising. ---------- Post added 01-05-2013 at 01:37 PM ---------- http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto..._1702824_n.jpg Name: Prince Blayze. Element: Fire. Power: Leadership. Description: Blayze is quite a large, thin dragon, with red and gold scales. His wings have a fading colouration from red to gold. He has four legs and two wings, like many of his species. He is a fire elemental dragon, this meaning he can breathe fire and bathe in lava. He keeps his power gem on his chest. The gem is red, and symbolises his Leadership power. Bio: Prince Blayze was nominated to be the new King after he fought in the Great Uprising. He is to be married to his sweet heart, the Earth Dragon Princess Fernir. Blayze was born in the Magam Dome, the giant cave inside Mount Fawkes, like all other Fire Dragons. He always showed great leadership skills and enjoyed exploring with the other Hatchlings. He made friends with Emerald during his rebellious Maturing Years, and together they helped build the City around the Palace. This is when he met Fernir and fell in love. His fiery hot passion was too much for the fragile Earth Dragon and she had to run from his affections. Luckily he burned out most of his fire in the Uprising, so when he proposed she accepted. The Cycle of the Old Ways dictated that the next King must be a Fire Element, but this is the first time a Fire Element married an Earth Element. Blayze flew over the ruined City, surveying the land with a great sadness burning in his chest. This was the City that he had built with his many friends, some of which had died in the Uprising. He landed by the crumbling Palace and stood, his golden talons digging into the Earth. His long, serpentine tail curled around his claws as he watched the land mournfully. It would take years to rebuild the City. Even then, he wouldn't have the help of many of the friends he had lost. He spied the old tapestry, lying in the rubble. Its material ripped and ragged, and charred around the edges. Blayze moved towards it, his tail swishing from side to side. On this piece of cloth, was the entire family tree of every Elemental. He sighed when he saw the Ice and Wind Dragons. Many of them had perished as they seized the castle. If only Blayze could have done more to help them. |

Name: Princess Fernir. Element: Earth. Power: Nature. Description: Fernir is quite small and slender for an Earth Elemental. Her scales are green that shimmer blue in the light. Her wings are small, like most Earth Elementals, but she can still fly. They are purple with a greenish sheen. She has strange, dog-like ears which help her to listen to the trees' needs. She walks on four legs, but has very small claws. She is more of a healer than a fighter. Bio: During the Great Uprising, Princess Fernir helped the injured, healing those that could be helped. Her great knowledge of herbs and magical flora, make her very good at making magical elixirs and potions. She fell for Blayze during the building of the City, but knew in her heart they could never be together. After he showed great courage and strength in the battle, she decided to marry him and let him court her. She spends most of her days in the forest, healing the old trees and bringing new life. Her green gem of power is hidden in a hallow of a tree she makes her home in. It symbolises her power over nature. Fernir walked through the dappled sunlight of the Ancient Forest, listening to the songs of the birds and the constant whispers of the trees. It had taken her years to be able to understand their language, as trees only know how to speak an ancient, long forgotten tongue. In this language, they can only speak the truth and have great wisdom in their words. Fernir often consulted a tree before she acted. They had recently only just started talking again, as the battle that raged not too far from here, was enough to silence even the bravest trees. She came across the largest, and most oldest tree in the forest. He called himself Matiriki, and he was a wise old oak, being alive for almost a thousand years. He was grumbling to himself like usual, speaking of long before dragons walked this land. She rested a claw on the bark, feeling the vibration of life within. Trees had a way of communicating through their roots, and also through the wind. A tree could talk to another, half way across the world. Matiriki was speaking of the pain and anguish that the trees were feeling near where the Mortals lived. Fernir had never seen a Mortal, but she was afraid of them, just as every Hatchling was taught to be when they were growing up. She kissed the old tree's bark, soothing his worry. She may not be able to help the trees where the Mortals were, but she could help her trees right here. She wouldn't want to ask for any more. |
