Julie brought him a pair of sweatpants that would probably fit him, a couple blankets, and a couple pillows. "Sorry I don't have a guest room," she said apologetically. "Mostly it's just me here."
Barnes shook his head a little. The couch was more than he needed, he'd had no expectation of an actual room. He did accept the sweats, though. They were in better shape than what he was currently wearing.
Julie smiled a bit. "Let me know if you need anything else," she told him. "Good night, Barnes."
Barnes just nodded once and watched as she disappeared into another room and closed the door.
Elsewhere, Maeve crept quietly into the main living room. Her pokemon were in her room, asleep, but she hadn't been able to sleep herself yet. |
Tony had emerged from his workshop and was just kind of flopped in an armchair with the TV on but muted. He was barely even watching it, really. He just couldn't sleep, he couldn't work, and he couldn't sit there with nothing.
Maeve went around and settled herself into a chair.
"Hey," she murmured. She curled up on the chair. |
Tony blinked at her. "You're down here," he murmured, watching her.
"Seems so," Maeve said. "Last I checked, at least." She was quiet for a moment. "Couldn't sleep."
"Mm." Tony nodded a bit. He got that. "How's your group settling in?"
"They're all asleep upstairs," Maeve replied. "They're exhausted. We've all been going nonstop for a while."
"I bet. Got a little dicey there," Tony agreed, leaning back further in his seat and attempting to go boneless. It didn't quite work.
"Thanks, by the way," Maeve said quietly. "We probably wouldn't have made it out of there if you hadn't shown up."
"Don't mention it," Tony said, flapping a hand lazily. "Always happy to help where needed."
"Still, thanks," Maeve said. She hesitated for a moment, thinking back to what Jarvis had told her. "And thanks for the room. It's nice. I like it."
"Good," Tony said with a brief grin. "Wasn't sure what colors you'd like. Peps helped, a bit. With the color stuff. Considering, y'know, my favorite color is ostentatious."
"Yes, well, so are you," Maeve teased, grinning a bit. "So that's kind of to be expected."
Tony grinned. "What can I say? It's just my style."
Maeve rolled her eyes.
"You can't bullshit me, I know you too well for that," she said. "You're not nearly as gaudy as you like people to think." She went quiet for a moment. "Still. Thanks. I really do like the room. Jarvis told me you decorated it." |
Tony blinked and then smiled. "I did," he agreed. "I'm glad you like it."
Maeve settled in the armchair.
"How is Togepi doing?" she asked, mostly just because she didn't want the silence to get awkward. "Still clingy?" |
"A bit, not as much," Tony said with a little shrug. "Getting better. Especially around the workshop."
"That's good," Maeve said. She grinned a bit. "Less work for Ninetails to do, not having to look after the both of you so close."
Tony snorted quietly. "Ninetails loves it," he said, rolling his eyes. "Don't let him convince you otherwise."
Maeve snerked a bit.
"Even Ninetails must get tired of keeping track of everything," she said. She gave a small, sleepy sigh and pillowed her head on her arms, on the arm of the chair. "I wouldn't be surprised if Ninetails brings Togepi to snuggle with you." |
"Sometimes he does," Tony agreed. "Last I checked I was the only one awake though. Besides you." He shrugged a bit, settling in further into the chair.
