"We'll reimburse you for the testing, and you two bring your results back next Friday," Tony said, grinning briefly. "And then we can get started with our testing."
Maeve nodded.
"Alright," she said. "Not a problem." |
"Anything else, Bruce? Release forms or anything? While we've got 'em here." Tony looked over at the other scientist.
"Those all come from the department secretary," Bruce replied as he went to check on something on one of the screens. "And then get filed with the legal department."
"In other words, ask Pepper. Got it." Tony rolled his eyes. "You could have just said so, Brucie."
Julie couldn't help but snicker a little at the two of them. |
"I did say so, Tony," Bruce replied from behind a transparent screen. "And I don't think Pepper counts as the department secretary."
Maeve couldn't help but snicker a bit as well. It was amusing. |
"Pepper's the CEO, she knows everything. Besides, it's easier to get forms from her than from the department secretary. She just fawns and looks at me." Tony made a face. Sure, he liked attention, but when he was trying to get things done it wasn't quite so awesome.
"That's because you encourage her, Tony," Bruce said dryly. "Stop flirting back so often and she'll stop."
"I almost never flirt back." At least, not that he was consciously aware of. But since he was Tony goddamn Stark, he was always flirting.
"You always flirt back, Tony," Bruce said. It was really just a statement of fact.
Tony stuck his tongue out at Bruce before he looked at the girls. "Any other questions or are you two good now?"
"I'm good." Julie was still grinning hugely at the two of them. They were just far too fun. |
"Yeah, we're good," Maeve echoed. She checked the time on her iPhone. It was just about time to leave, anyways. Yay weekend!
"Alright. See you next Friday, then." Tony moved over to the table to start putting down the adjustments that he needed to make, leaving Steve to walk the two girls back to the elevator and then out of the building.
Maeve would have been pleased to poke around the Green Lab some more, but she let herself be led back to the elevator by Steve.
"At least it's the weekend now," she commented. |
"Yup. Hooray for weekends." Julie grinned and stepped off the elevator again once they were on the ground floor. "Got any plans?"
"I was thinking of heading to the county arena to do some training," Maeve said. "Ralts and Litwick could always use more practice, and I want to see if I can earn the last couple hundred points I need on my card to trade in for an evolution stone." Because she definitely planned on having an Chandellure, but she needed a Dusk Stone for it.
"Good luck with that," Julie said with a grin. "Although I might see you there. Swablu needs some more training, and I know Cyndaquil won't mind getting out and about."
"I can still get you that Dig TM if you want," Maeve offered. "Although doesn't the Typhlosion line learn Rollout at some point?"
"I think so," Julie agreed. "He doesn't need it yet, so we're still fine. But if I decide he needs different moves, you'll be the first person I go to."
"I'll have the TM ready when you want it," Maeve promised. Hey, there were some perks to being a TM specialist, and one of them was being allowed to use whatever TMs she wanted. They were all reusable now, thanks to some recent breakthroughs, so she could use them as many times as she liked without using them up.
"Well, I should head back home," Julie said, stretching. "I'll see you over the weekend maybe. Have fun."
"You too," Maeve said. "And I'll see you on Monday, at the latest."
"Yup. Later." Julie grinned and waved before heading off in one direction to go back home for the rest of the day.
It went on like that for a few weeks: regular work Monday through Thursday, testing on Friday, and training on the weekends. Maeve was actually pretty pleased; she managed to get Ralts to evolve into Kirlia sooner than she thought, and the pokemon was far more social afterwards.
It also kind of helped that they kept getting impromptu visits from Tony and Steve. |
One such Friday almost a month later turned out to be one of those impromptu visits. Only with an extra this time.
"La la la I can't hear you," Tony fake-sang as he moved over to the girls, draping an arm over each of them and totally ignoring the testing. "Mr. Stark," Coulson said, stepping out of the elevator after him. "You have an agreement with us, and we are in need of your expertise." "My office hours are from 12 to 1 every third Wednesday of the month, please schedule an appointment then." |
