"Mess hall? Please. Their food sucks. Seriously, I don't know how their chef is still there." Tony rolled his eyes. "Let's go get some Chinese or something."
"I only have an hour, Tony," Maeve pointed out. "Not enough time to leave the Helicarrier to get something to eat and come back."
Tony grumbled. "Fine. I can bring something up, no problem. Then you don't have to eat the mush they try to pass as food."
"It's like the mush in the Matrix," Maeve said, grinning a bit. "Bland, tasteless, and containing all of the necessary vitamins and minerals." She paused for a moment. "But I would kill for an order of the deluxe sushi from Higashi's," she added hopefully.
"Done and done." Tony grinned and tapped in the order on his phone before tucking it in his pocket. He'd go drop down to get it in a few minutes.
"You're the best," Maeve said, grinning. "Don't let them forget the ginger salad and the miso, they come with the deluxe."
"Trust me, this is me ordering. They give me all the extras." Tony grinned broadly.
Maeve grinned.
"Next time you go there to actually sit down and eat, get the green tea ice cream," she said. "It's phenomenal." She glanced at the clock. "And you may want to go now if you're going to be back in time." |
"Happy's picking it up and taking it back to the Tower so I only have to go down to the Tower instead of to the shop. Last time I dropped into a shop in the suit Pepper reamed me."
Maeve bit her lip to keep from giggling.
"I'm sure," she said. "She probably has her hands more than full already keeping up with you." |
Tony pouted at her, looking wounded. "I'm not that bad all the time," he grumbled.
"Not all the time," Maeve agreed. "But a good percent of the time, you have to admit."
"I don't have to admit anything." Tony grinned when his phone went off. "And there's lunch. I'll be back in a few minutes."
Maeve rolled her eyes, but waved him off. He knew she was mostly right, anyways.
It took Tony less than ten minutes to get down to the Tower, get food, and bring it back up all in one piece. He walked back over to her and grinned.
"I have food." |
"Best thing I've heard all day," Maeve said, grinning. "You're the best."
"I know I am." Tony grinned and handed her the food, looking amused as he took his own food and went to find a place to sit comfortable and eat with her.
Maeve sat down at one of the tables along one side of the room and promptly opened the takeout containers.
"Perfect," she said when she saw the sushi. "Higashi's always does it right." She gave Ditto a piece to munch on, and then started eating. |
Tony snickered and started in on his own sushi. "Yeah, I'm one of the regulars there. They know exactly what I like by now."
"I'm not surprised," Maeve said. "I'm betting you know all the best places in the city."
"I like to think so. Have you ever had schwarma? I found this great schwarma place. You should try it sometime."
"I think I can safely say I've never had schwarma," Maeve said. "What is it?"
"Magically delicious." Tony grinned. "Pita and onions and meat and good stuff. I'll take you sometime."
"It's a date, then," Maeve said. She paused and turned a bit pink. "I mean, you know, not a date-date, but you know what I mean..."
Tony snickered at how flustered she was before he shook his head a bit. "It's a whatever we want to call it," he agreed, even as in the back of his mind he wondered what a date with her would be like. He'd never been big on traditional dating or anything, so the thought was interesting.
