"Of course I do, this is me we're talking about." Tony grinned. "I was thinking of giving it to you to leak to the handler discussion boards."
Maeve snickered.
"It would go right into the 'My Nightmare Asset' thread," she said. |
Tony snickered. "Make all the others glad they don't have to deal with your terror of a partner?"
"Coulson still holds the place of honor for having the most nightmarish assets," Maeve said, grinning. "After all, he personally handles Agents Barton and Romanov."
"Not to mention unofficially he's the liaison to the Avengers," Tony pointed out. "I'm surprised he hasn't gotten an award yet."
"I'm sure people have tried," Maeve said. She grinned. "Anyways, I can't have you dazzling another class, so shoo." She waved a hand towards the door. "Go find the Stark seminar."
"But it's not fun if you're not there and there's no Coulson there to annoy." Tony pouted. "Besides, I've been getting threatening texts from Peps for the last ten minutes."
"So obey her and head back," Maeve said. "She's probably threatening you for a reason."
Tony just snorted. "See you later," he said, heading off again to leave before Pepper called Coulson.
Meave watched him go, and then turned to get ready for the second class of the day.
She didn't get back to the Tower until later that evening, just before dinnertime. It had taken her that long to finish the seminar and sign off on the files of every agent who had shown up that day, certifying they knew the basics of battles and type-matching. She flopped down on a chair when she got back to the tower, sighing. |
"Long day?" Julie asked sympathetically as she walked into the room. She was using one crutch and holding the other like an impromptu sword. She had just finished fending Clint off, after all, and was expecting him to pop out again any moment.
"Agents should already know what I've spent all day teaching them," Maeve said as she sat down. "Honestly. Type-matching is not a difficult concept."
"No, it's not," Julie agreed. "But lots of people just don't think. We've already had proof that people are idiots."
"You'd think people would know how to take out a ghost type," Maeve said. "Normal-type and flying-type moves can't hit it so you have to rely on elemental moves. Dark-types are best." She sighed. "Seriously. Normal people I can understand, but SHIELD agents?"
Julie just shrugged. She didn't have a good answer for that, really.
Maeve just sighed and rubbed her eyes a bit.
"And I had to sign off for every agent in the classes to certify that they took the seminar." |
"Of course," Julie said with a shrug. "That's normal. Remember when we were going through our seminars?"
Maeve just groaned a bit into her hands.
"If you were faced with a Steelix and had the choice of any pokemon out there, what would you pick?" she asked through her fingers. |
"Me?" Julie blinked. "Probably a Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, something like that. Why?" She frowned a bit.
"Good." Maeve sighed. "I had an agent answer that question with 'Steelix don't have a type weakness.'" She shook her head. "And this is even after showing them a Steelix so they could see the pokemon itself. Apparently Ditto's seen a really big one before, it turned into this massive thing."
Julie snorted. "Yeah. Oh man, I saw this giant the other day out in the park. It was a Persian, but it was the biggest Persian I've ever seen."
"Persians are tricky," Maeve said, almost automatically. "They can learn a bunch of things you wouldn't think they could. I couldn't safely put a Medicham up against one, but possibly a Lucario or something like that." She blinked. "Damn it, I've spent too much time today creating match-ups like that for clueless agents."
"Yeah. Yeah you have. Stop it." Julie gave her a Look. "Dinner should be ready soon, by the way, so we can sit and relax."
"Sorry," Maeve mumbled. She didn't get up, though. "I'm just going to sit here and try to deprogram my brain."
"Turn on the TV, Tony only has a few thousand channels for you to look through and find something you like." Julie put the remote next to her before going to get food for both of them so Maeve wouldn't have to get up.
