"When are the League championships on, do you know?" Maeve asked. "That wouldn't be bad to watch."
"Not until tomorrow, I don't think, but they've got all the usual pre-tournament stuff going on." Julie set a plate in front of Maeve.
"Maybe I can use that in my seminars," Maeve mused as she nibbled at her dinner. "Tape some of the more complex matches in the tournament and make my classes analyze them."
Julie snorted at her but didn't say anything, instead settling down with her own dinner while Bruce dragged Tony up to make him eat.
Maeve was quiet as she ate, just trying to unwind a bit from working all day. Gardevoir and Ditto sat with her, while Chandelure went off to play with Rotom.
Tony ate and then worked on his program from his pad, muttering to himself. Everyone else knew enough to just let him work.
Everyone but Maeve, that is. She knew better, of course, but she was also curious. So she moved over near him looking over his shoulder at the tablet.
"What are you working on?" she asked softly. |
"Same program still." Tony didn't look up, his fingers flying across the tablet screen. "Almost done with the initial phase so I can test it."
"The translation project?" Maeve asked as data and code flew across the screen. She couldn't make heads or tails out of it, but it clearly all made sense to Tony.
"Yeah." Tony kept tapping on the screen. Because he could keep track very well of what was going on, fortunately.
"Let me know when it's ready to test," Maeve said. "I want to see how it does."
Tony nodded. "Probably sometime tonight," he agreed. "I should have a working prototype by morning."
"I'm not surprised," Maeve said. She stretched a bit. "I need to make a mental note to tape the League tournament. I might be able to use some of it in my classes." She grinned. "Some of the participants use some brilliant strategies, and some are really kind of dumb."
"Already done." Tony waved a hand vaguely towards the TV. "It'll all be sent to your computer so you can go through each match individually." And all without looking up from his code.
Maeve blinked.
"When did you find the time to set that up?" she asked. |
"When you said you wanted them recorded." Tony grinned. "Jarvis knows how to anticipate my whims by now."
"I'm impressed," Maeve said. "That seems to happen more and more often lately."
"It should. I am made of awesome and I constantly impress people." Tony grinned cheekily.
Natasha, however, was eyeing the two speculatively, and Julie grinned broadly. |
"And there's that famous modesty," Maeve teased, oblivious to the others watching them.
"Hey, no one ever said anything about modesty or humility," Tony pointed out. "Besides, where's the fun in that?"
Maeve snorted.
"No kidding," she said, grinning a bit. |
Tony grinned at her before he went back to his code, making sure it was perfect so he could get it into a functioning prototype.
Maeve settled in for a little bit, more relaxed now than before. She always enjoyed bantering with Tony.
Tony kept working on his code, though he worked a little slower than normal.
Julie finally got up to leave a while later, stretching briefly. Time to head home. "I'm heading home," she said. |
Maeve nodded and got up as well.
"I'll go with you," she said. "I should head home, anyways, so I may as well officially make sure you get home okay." |
