"I don't need a suit, Tony," Maeve said, looking at him. "Really. No suit required."
Tony huffed but didn't say anything else for now.
But if he made her a suit or parts of a suit in his spare time, really, it wasn't his fault. |
"I'd love a mug of tea, though," Maeve added hopefully. "There's an airtight can in with the coffee, it's got a label on it that says how hot the water should be and how much tea to use and how long to steep it. Follow the directions and add a teaspoon of sugar to it?" She grinned a bit. "I'm sure Jarvis can make sure you don't burn it or over steep it."
"Sure," Tony said after a moment. "I can manage that. Or, y'know, make sure Jarvis knows what to do because I don't do tea, that's really more Bruce's thing." But he got up anyway to go see if he could find and make this mystical substance.
Maeve sighed and laid back, trying to relax. Chandelure and Gardevoir chose that moment to come in, Ditto riding along on one of Chandelure's arms.
"Hey, guys," she said. "Look, I'm awake." She grinned a bit. "Gardevoir, Tony's trying to make tea, go help him?" Gardevoir trilled a bit and left again to see if she could find the genius and try to help him. |
Tony had made it to the kitchen without incident and was standing there reading off the instructions aloud. Because he was Tony and he got bored and had tech EVERYWHERE, he barely had to do anything. He just read off the instructions, plopped a tea ball with the tea in the cup (which was filled with water the correct temperature) and wait for the timer to go off.
Gardevoir watched for a moment, amused, and then trilled at him, going to check the tea. He was doing alright so far, so she didn't have to fix anything.
Tony grinned at her. "See, I can make tea. With help."
Gardevoir just smiled and nodded, gesturing for him to continue. She pointed at the sugar for a moment, as if double-checking that he remembered.
"Right, sugar. One teaspoon, right?" The timer went off, and Tony took out the tea ball, dumping it in the sink for the moment and taking the mug over to the sugar container.
Gardevoir nodded. He was still doing alright, and she was kind of impressed.
Tony finished making the tea and carried it back to Maeve. Because he could focus on one task long enough to make tea for Maeve, since it wasn't for him and he actually cared how it turned out.
Gardevoir trailed behind him, no longer worried about the tea turning out properly. She had supervised, and it had gone alright. Job accomplished.
Maeve had managed to get herself propped up on the pillows so she was mostly sitting up. She grinned when she saw the tea. "How did he do?" she asked Gardevoir. The pokemon trilled and nodded. |
"Hey!" Tony pouted a bit, affronted. "I can make a cup of tea!" He paused. "Once in a while."
"Tony, you're a genius," Maeve said as she sipped the tea. "Given enough time and incentive, you could figure out how to do anything." She grinned. "A cup of tea should be easy."
"I don't do tea. Bruce does tea. He likes tea. I don't. I like coffee. Coffee is easy. I dump in grounds and water and push a button." Tony shrugged.
Maeve grinned.
"Fine, fine," she said. "You can have your coffee. I like tea." |
Tony rolled his eyes at her, even though he was grinning.
Maeve grinned back and sighed a bit as she tried to relax. She was still sore all over, it still hurt to breathe, and the painkillers from earlier were wearing off.
"So how bad was it?" she asked. "Cleaning up after Doom?" |
"Not too bad," Tony said with a shrug. "Agents took care of most of it, and it was mostly picking up parts of his Doombots anyway."
Maeve grinned.
"Did you get to keep any pieces?" she asked. "Take them apart, science them, things like that?" |
"Of course. I've got pieces down in the lab to poke and prod at later," Tony said with a dismissive shrug. "It's not as good as my tech."
"Of course it's not," Maeve said. She grinned. "Everyone knows StarkTech is the best there is. Not that you need me to say it or anything."
Tony grinned and preened, just a little. Because it never hurt to hear it from someone else.
"It'll be a good distraction for a few days. And then I'll dangle the information over Fury's head." |
"That should be amusing," Maeve said. She grinned. "I still want to see if I can sneak the pirate flag into his office, once I can actually get around on my own without crying. I want to be the first regular agent to get past the door. Deputy Director Hill doesn't count, and neither do Agents Barton or Romanov."
