Julie took a bite and nodded. "Yup, you did fine," she assured him. "Now get your own food and sit down, you're too tall."
Steve chuckled a bit and got his own plate before he settled in next to her, making sure her pokemon had enough space, as well. He'd definitely noticed how much they tended to snuggle on her.
Growlithe grumped at him but didn't actually try to do anything to him. She knew better by now. Julie settled in a bit and fed little bits of her dinner to Vulpix, mostly just watching as the others came in to get their dinners.
Maeve, on the other hand, had to wait for someone to bring her a plate. She was still nowhere close to being able to move around on her own, so she was still stuck in bed.
Tony fixed up a plate for each of them (with some prompting from Ninetails) and went to go take her food to her, bringing his own along.
"Getting restless yet?" he asked with a little grin as he set her food down on a tray. |
"Ridiculously so," Maeve replied as she carefully sat up. She hissed through her teeth a bit in pain. "Who cooked?"
"Steve and Bruce. Apparently Steve is managing Julie wonderfully to keep her off her feet." Tony grinned. "It's edible, I checked."
"At least someone's keeping her off her feet," Maeve said. "Since I'm clearly slacking in that area right now." She reached for her fork and grimaced. "Still hurts to move much."
"Unfortunately broken ribs take time," Tony agreed sympathetically, pushing the tray closer to her so it would be easier. "And you're allowed to be slacking off right now, you should be slacking off, unless you've taught Gardevoir to herd Julie places, which might be hysterical."
"What makes you think I haven't?" Maeve replied, grinning a bit. "Although it's not Jules she's usually herding." She reached for the plate, pausing when Ditto moved into her lap to beg for food. Gardevoir scolded the metamorph, picking it up so Maeve could have her dinner to herself.
Tony snorted and shook his head, settling down in her room to eat with her. And giving little bits of food to Ditto. Because he really was a big softie sometimes.
Maeve just smiled at the scene and worked on carefully eating. Gardevoir left the room briefly, coming back with a sleepy, whimpering Togepi. She deposited the baby pokemon in Tony's lap.
"Hey, what are you doing? Why are you crying? There's no crying here, this is a strictly no crying zone," Tony said, poking Togepi a few times. "Or else I'll go make you sit on Steve and he'll fuss and be awkward and you won't be comfortable."
Togepi sniffled a few times and then giggled a little when Tony poked it. Ditto, seeing that it wasn't being given any more food, turned itself into a Togepi itself and waved its little arms around.
Tony blinked at the second Togepi. "What? This is not fair, this is supposed to be my dinner, you little brats, turning yourself into a replica of my pokemon is not going to earn you points, you know." But he gave them both bits of food anyway.
Maeve laughed a little, breathlessly.
"Ditto's smart enough to know how to get handouts," she said, grinning. |
"Clearly." Tony grumped. "Alright, that's it for now, my dinner." He started eating again, letting his Togepi snuggle up in his lap.
Ditto-Togepi pouted and changed back into its regular form, going to snuggle with Maeve.
Tony snorted at the pokemon and settled in there for a bit. It was nice to make sure that Maeve was fine and not getting herself into trouble.
Maeve just grinned a bit at Tony.
"You're such a pushover when it comes to them," she commented. |
"I am not, they just pout and make too much noise if I don't cooperate," Tony grumped.
"That's what you keep saying," Maeve said. She grinned a bit more. "However, I've learned that the 'How To Deal With Tony Stark' seminar they still run is completely right when they tell people that approximately 85% of everything you say is just to throw people off."
"Not 85%, maybe 75%, really it depends on the person." Tony grinned.
"85 on average," Maeve replied, grinning. She let Ditto snuggle into her lap as she laid back on the pillows propping her up.
Tony grumbled a bit more but didn't really protest again, instead just getting comfortable and propping his feet up. Togepi stayed cuddled up again him, quite content.
