spunky 03-18-2013 07:51 PM

congrats Vinyl! woohoo~

KatMagenta 03-18-2013 07:51 PM

My mum explained to me that since I'm an only child and my grandparents only grandchild that could give some people the impression I'm spoiled but basically my great aunt isn't the nicest of people and we don't have much contact with her since my gran (her sister) died. :/

Woo, go Vinyl!

spicedroses 03-18-2013 07:52 PM

does the happy 100 post dance for you!

momochan 03-18-2013 07:56 PM

Livi: Yeah, at her age she doens't need a big pile of toys. [lol] Like you said in your post, she only plays with a select few while ignoring the others. So having a mountain of toys would really be a waste of money.

I'll tell you something I hate about some parents. Some parents buy the top brands of clothing and shoes for toddlers. it is such a waste of money because in no time they will grow right out of it. Buying cheaper clothing isn't going to make your child look horrible or be blasphemes because they aren't wearing a name brand.

LiviInLove 03-18-2013 07:59 PM

Momo: Exactly! She has her favourites. Why waste money on toys she'll probably play with once, lose interest with, and never play with again.

Oh, believe me, I know! She's growing like a weed! It's CRAZY! For the first year, we had more clothes and shoes and everything than we knew what to do with! So many outfits from friends and family that we rarely had to go out and buy her clothes and we still get new outfits from friends and family now. So I do understand, we're not those people who go top of the line for an outfit or a pair of shoes that she'll wear a few times, grow out of and never wear again. Makes no sense at all!

Growing up, I never had name brand clothes - I'm one of 4, and mom had 3 of us at a young age at the same time - my elder brother who's just about 2 years older and then my twin and me... and then when I was 7 my sister was born. So yeah, we had a lot of clothes that were passed down - Carlie and I would wear Sea's stuff, and Chrissy wore some of my old stuff. So I'm also used to lots of hand-me-downs and the like as well. [yes] Nothing against hand me downs. Props to saving money there! [;)]

Some people see their children as another accessory to dress up.

LiviInLove 03-18-2013 08:01 PM

Which just makes me sad, because they're so much more than that - who cares if a child is wearing something that's not top of the line clothing. Sometimes that just makes them look ridiculous (to me at least). :( *sighs* But whatever. *shrug*

KatMagenta 03-18-2013 08:07 PM

Mother must have heard me talking and rang me. [lol]

momochan 03-18-2013 08:07 PM

livi: The only name brands i have gotten was from a friend who out grew some clothes. Those were the warmest pants ever. xD Very plush. We usually buy clothes from wal-mart because they are cheap and just about just as good as other brands. My mom gets some of my old clothes. xD She's very tiny (like, body mass wise. she is 5'7") so she fits my old shirts and pants.

It doesn't! It's a huge waist! I don't know why people think having name brands is so important. it doesn't make people think you are all that and a bag of chips and it doesn't make you cool. People don't always even dress fashionably with the clothes!

LiviInLove 03-18-2013 08:08 PM

Lol! My mum has done that a few times - it's weird. I'll be talking to someone about her, and she'll call. WEIRD! [lol]

RoadToGallifrey 03-18-2013 08:08 PM

Aw thanks guys! :') Sorry I poofed, it was dinner and nap time ha

momochan 03-18-2013 08:09 PM

Have you guys watched Toddlers and Tiaras? Because if you want to see people pretty much whore out their children and make them look like a plastic doll, that's the show you want to watch.

---------- Post added 03-18-2013 at 04:10 PM ----------

-creepy old lady voice- Mother always knows.

LiviInLove 03-18-2013 08:10 PM

Momo: Oh, I've gotten a pair of name brand pants before... I loved them too! So amazing what paying an arm and a leg for an article of clothing will do. *chuckles* Oh, we do the same there! And lol, that's great though - always good to find someone to pass clothes along to. =]

It really is! One can dress fashionably despite not having name brand clothes. *shrugs* they can think what they think, and we'll dress how we dress. As long as we're comfortable, that's what matters, right? :)

And haha, yes we do always know! [;)]

Vinyl: You're most welcome hun! [hug] How was dinner and your nap?

((Gotta go for a few to get a few things done, but I'll try to remember to come back, given that the wee one doesn't wake up from her nap.))

I dislike those people a little bit. Children should be allowed to explore who they are and not be forced into being like mommy/daddy.

I totally agree! [yes] Let them be who they are, and just go with the flow and adapt and adjust according to whatever happens. ^_^

momochan 03-18-2013 08:15 PM

livi: Although name brand clothing can be comfortable and be of good quality, it's not always worth the price. yes! it is! I recently used a pair of old skinny jeans to make something for my friend. [lol] we recycle our clothes. We either donate them, let someone else in the house wear them, or use them for crafts.

Exactly! Sometimes you can find cooler looking things in stores that don't have name brands.

I think I have worn Dansken clothes. If you count that as a name brand?

My mom has to keep me from the clothing isle because I will just go crazy and be like "OMG I LOVE THAT, THAT, THAT, THAT...-continues-" xD

see ya later livi!

hummy 03-18-2013 08:20 PM

see you later, Livi

spicedroses 03-18-2013 08:22 PM

gonna try and get some of those little dresses in the shop, almost didn't realize the shop was open at all.

I wish I was better at writing and less embarrassed about it, because then I could have written some poetry for your thread.
Instead I will just say hi! :)

bebe is sweet, she will appreciate anything you write her.

xuvrette 03-18-2013 08:30 PM

I was never into wanting stuff... I don't remember about being rejected on my demands...
well, understandably, I seldom ask for things.
Maybe I need to ask my parents for sure what I was when I was small.
