Faye wouldn't dream of putting herself between Tony and Bruce, so she managed to situate them so that Tony was across from Rei, so he wasn't directly across from any mutant that he could potentially piss off. It seemed to be the best course of action.

Rei snickered when Tony started making faces at her. Honestly, he was so amusing she just couldn't help it.

"Hey guys," their waitress said as she walked over. "What can I get for you today?" Even she was a little tense.

Faye let Bruce and Tony order first, and then gave the waitress her own order. She hadn't missed the way the girl looked tense and uneasy, but she wasn't sure how to broach the subject yet.

Rei ordered as well, letting her two order and watching the waitress go. Okay, things were definitely odd here.

"What the hell is going on?" Rei asked quietly, watching their waitress go.

"Thank god you noticed it too," Faye said, looking at her friend. "I feel like I want to cut the tension in the air with a plastic butter knife. This isn't normal."

"No, it's not." Rei glanced around. "But I don't know how to bring it up without making her more upset." Which just would not be fun.

"Neither do I," Faye replied. She thought about it for a moment. Then she noticed a group of waitresses coming together near the service counter of the kitchen, and had an idea. "Hey, Logan... can you hear them from here?"

Logan nodded and listened in on them easily. "I can hear something about chibis." Then he paused and his face grew stony.

"Some trainers found one of our cities and are stealing chibis."

Bruce's eyes promptly turned green.

"Excuse me?" he asked softly.

Logan nodded, looking more than a little pissed off himself. "That's what they're saying," he said, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Does anyone know who?" Faye asked. She glanced at Bruce, although she trusted him to keep his temper.

Logan shook his head. "Just that it's a few trainers." He was growling quietly, glaring out the window.

"Well, let's finish lunch here," Faye said, "and ask around a bit more when we leave. We need supplies anyways, so we can ask around then."

Rei nodded, patting Logan's hand. "Thanks," she said quietly. He grunted at her but relaxed a bit.

He was just planning on going after the trainers as soon as he found out who they might be or where they were hiding.

The waitress brought their lunch not long after that, and lunch was spent in rather tense silence. It was the exact same kind of tension that Faye felt everywhere else in the town, so she was sure they'd hit upon the reason why.

Rei wandered over to the nearest store after they were done, glancing around. Part of her wanted to stay and ask things, and part of her wanted to be done ASAP so they could go back into the woods to get away from the tension.

Faye felt the same way, and stuck close to Tony and Bruce as they went through the store. Normally she would let them wander, but this time that didn't feel quite safe.

Rei got what she needed and left, Erik and Logan both sticking fairly close to her. It was easier that way, especially since Erik knew an upset or frightened trainer was a Bad Thing.

"So, back out to the woods?" Rei asked with false cheer once they were back outside.

"Sounds like a plan to me," Faye said, nodding quickly. She glanced at her bishies and back. "I might start up that monster fighting thing again for Bruce, he looks a little smashy."

"Yeah, I think Logan could use it too." Rei glanced back at said bishi. "Well, the sooner we get out of here the better, in my opinion."

"Agreed," Faye said. She followed Rei towards the town entrance so they could leave.

They didn't encounter any problems leaving, so once they were out of town again, Rei turned on the monster app and leg Logan work off some steam with it.

Faye did the same, finding a suitable place to settle for the moment and turning on her own monster app to let Bruce (and the Hulk) work off some tension.

Rei kept walking as the two bishis worked off some energy and tension.

What she wasn't expecting was to run into the chibi-stealing trainers while they were walking.

At first, Faye didn't realize who the trainers were. She thought they were just another group who had stopped for a little while to get their bearings. But something seemed off about them, she just didn't know what.
