Tony, on the other hand, saw them and just lost it, laughing hysterically. Oh that was priceless.
Rei saw them and she grinned but managed to keep quiet, only giggling a little. Loki saw the two and one eyebrow raised. Well, this would be interesting. |
"Oh my," Faye managed. "Bruce... Bruce, how--?"
Bruce just gave them both a flat look even as Thor tried to scramble up a bit higher to look around with all of the bright curiosity of a small child. |
Tony about fell over laughing at that. Oh that was so priceless. He even got pictures with Faye's dex while he could.
"Well," Rei said, trying hard not to laugh, "looks like we might have a couple newcomers?" "For the moment." Loki answered, going over to his brother to pry him off Bruce. |
Bruce stood still as Loki dislodged the chibi.
"Well, then, what brings you to us?" Faye asked once she was sure she wouldn't break down laughing. |
"This one." Loki set Thor down with a little huff. He wasn't actually upset, though.
|
As soon as Thor was set on his feet, he was running around trying to look at everything he could.
"I think you may need to explain that to me," Faye said. |
"My brother decided he wanted to travel with you for a while." Loki shrugged, keeping an eye on Thor. Because he knew that given half a chance Thor would run off and get lost.
|
Faye blinked at that and glanced at Rei in a 'what do you think?' way. Meanwhile, Thor was back in front of Bruce, demanding to be picked up again.
"Maybe you should ask your brother instead," Bruce suggested cautiously. Thor considered that for a moment before running over to Loki. "Brother!" Thor raised his arms and made grabby-hands. |
Loki sighed indulgently but picked up Thor, placing him easily on his shoulders and letting Thor grab on. Really, he spoiled the child too much.
But it was hard not to. Rei shrugged. "Can't be too bad," she said cautiously. "Maybe we could do like a trial-period type thing? See if it'll work out ok for everyone?" |
"That's not a bad idea," Faye agreed, nodding. She glanced at Loki. "As long as that's alright with you?"
|
Loki nodded. "That sounds acceptable," he agreed mildly. He poked his brother in the side. "Hear that, little brother? We'll stay for a little and see how things work out."
|
Thor grinned widely, bouncing a bit on his brother's shoulders.
"I guess that brings up the question who you'd rather stay with," Faye said. |
Loki sighed shortly. He didn't really want to, but oh well.
"Perhaps I can decide in a day or two," he said instead. Because he wanted a bit more time to make sure neither of them was crazy or anything, and he doubted they would be going into town immediately. |
Faye nodded. She was fine with that.
"Alright," she said. |
Loki nodded and settled in there to observe them for a while and let his brother explore.
|
Faye and her two cautiously settled back into the routine, letting Bruce settle in again and Faye trying to get her dex back from Tony. He hadn't yet stopped tinkering with it, and she was vaguely afraid that by the time she got it back, it would be an Autobot or something.
|
Rei and her two got back to their peace, especially since Logan wasn't quite as growly with a little kid around. He wasn't overly fond of kids but he knew better than to be a bad example.
|
Just after dinnertime, once everyone was squared away with meals, Bruce finally found a moment to sit in a quiet corner of camp and just meditate for a bit. Faye didn't blame him; anyone would want quiet after herding children all day.
|
Logan sat over near Bruce to just sit in the quiet for a bit. He'd try meditating, but he knew he wasn't patient enough.
|
Bruce cracked one eye when he heard someone sitting next to him, but closed it again when he saw it was Logan. He didn't comment, just sharing the quiet space with the mutant. He did hear Logan starting to fidget, though.
|
Logan tried to be quiet and not disturb Bruce, really. But he wasn't good at just holding still for any period of time.
|
"Have you ever thought about a moving meditation, Logan?" Bruce asked after a moment, not even opening his eyes. "You might enjoy it."
|
Logan grunted. "Never thought about it," he admitted. "What is it?"
|
"Centering yourself and clearing your mind through repetitive motions, rather than sitting still," Bruce said. "Katas and the like." He opened his eyes and stretched just a little.
|
Logan grunted again but looked more interested. Okay, yeah, that was more to his liking. He still didn't get how Bruce could go from keeping up with Tony to sitting perfectly still. It made no sense to him.
