Tony slunk back over to them after a few minutes, looking rather worried. But he didn't tell her what he'd heard immediately. He'd rather wait until they got back to their room.
Faye could see that he was worried, and that in turn worried her. It wasn't like Tony to be actively worried about something. She gestured towards the hotel so they could go settle back in where it felt a bit safer.
Tony nodded and headed back to the hotel, sticking close to the group.
It took Rei a little while longer to get back with her group and enough food for everyone. |
The room was a bit less tense than the outside, and Faye settled in warily. She didn't feel quite like she could get comfortable, yet; instead she felt a bit anxious, like she was waiting for something but she didn't know what.
"I don't like this town," she commented. "This is a weird place." |
"It's not the place," Tony said. "It's the events going on." He shook his head. "Someone's been stealing bishis."
"Say what?" Faye asked, blinking and looking at him. "I thought that wasn't possible. I mean, blood bond and all, right?"
"That's why everyone is so freaked," Tony said with a nod. "It shouldn't be possible, and yet, someone is pulling it off. Apparently they target more rare bishis for some kind of underground illegal trade network."
That made Faye pause and she glanced at Cas.
"Which would explain why I was stopped at the gate," she said. "Since Cas isn't exactly common." |
Cas nodded gravely. That did indeed make sense.
"So everyone's a little edgy," Tony said. "I doubt that'll change anywhere else we go for a while." |
"How could someone steal a bishi, though?" Faye asked. "Like, how would they even be able to get around the bond? I thought the bond was in place partially for that reason."
Tony shrugged. "Someone found a way," he said, although he didn't sound pleased about it.
Faye was quiet for a moment.
"Then I think we should head out in the morning," she said. She looked at Rei. "It might be safer out on the road." |
Rei nodded. "And I think between all of ours we'll have enough forewarning and protection in case we do run into someone."
Faye nodded.
"Yeah," she agreed. "I think I'll feel better once we're not in town, it feels like being fish in a barrel." |
"In the morning, then," Rei said. "Now go on and get food. Before the hoard descends."
Faye grinned a bit but did get up to get herself a plate before the food was all gone.
Rei got her own plate and settled in, turning on the TV for a little while. It helped the settle the males, which helped her settle down.
"Turn on Green Lantern," Faye said, grinning. "That was kind of a terrible movie, we need something to tear apart, I think."
Tony tapped in a few quick commands on his tablet, taking over the TV and turning on the requested movie.
"Awesome, thanks Tony," Faye said, grinning. "Now we can tear apart bad comic book things."
"No problem," Tony said, going back to his dinner and lounging a bit. Their room was more relaxed, which was good. Especially since the two trainers were relaxing as well. Over the past year or so, he'd found that that had become a higher priority for most of the group.
Even Cas had noticed that everyone made an effort to keep the girls content. When the two trainers were happy, the whole group was more relaxed. He ended up settling near Faye, although he wasn't trying to pull her into a snuggle pile like Tony seemed to be.
Tony wasn't really trying; he was succeeding. He pulled Faye over and plopped next to her before half-dragging Bruce down to sit next to him. Thor waddled over to plop himself on Faye's lap for a while.
Faye rolled her eyes at Tony, but settled in and let Thor get comfortable on her lap.
Rei snorted a bit and caught the beer that Logan tossed to her before settling in next to Erik. Loki huffed and sat between the girls with a faintly smug expression.
