Amy was quiet for a while after that, just letting the calming tea work on her. She wasn't trembling anymore, and she wasn't scrambling to pull a group of thralls around herself, so she was counting it as a pretty good post-nightmare night.
Loki was content to sit in quiet, observing Amy. She was stable again, but clearly dependent on her sister. Something he needed to wean her off.
Amy knew he was studying her, but there wasn't anything she could do about it. She stayed curled up in an armchair, holding on to her now-empty mug.
Loki looked at her for a few moments before waving a hand, just a little, and refilling her mug. He still had that much power, after all. And magic. Magic was good.
Amy blinked when she saw her mug was refilled, and she glanced a bit sideways at Loki.
"What is this?" she asked. "Since when can you do that? I'm not even sure if I should drink that." |
"It's tea," Loki said, ever helpful. "It's not poisoned, if that's what you're worried about. And I have been able to do that since I was a boy."
"Magic, or poisoning tea?" Amy promptly replied, cautiously smelling the tea in the mug. It smelled alright, so she took a tentative sip. It tasted normal, too, so she relaxed a bit.
"Both." Not quite true, he hadn't poisoned tea until was a little bit older, but still.
Amy blinked.
"You poisoned someone's tea?" she asked. "Should I ask why?" |
Loki shrugged. "Revenge. He was foolish enough to have started a prank war with me." Loki smirked. Because clearly he'd won the war.
Amy paused at that.
"I see," she said. "That is a phenomenally bad idea." |
"At that time, they didn't realize it was a bad idea," Loki said with a modest little shrug. "And it did not stop others from trying again later."
"I bet," Amy said, resettling herself on the chair.
Loki just settled in again, debating if he should make some tea for himself. Then he dismissed the idea and steepled his fingers together.
Amy glanced at him cautiously.
"What are you plotting?" she asked. "You look like you're scheming something." |
"At the moment, I'm not scheming, as you say," Loki said, his lips twitching in amusement. "I am simply considering recent developments."
"Such as?" Amy asked, looking at him curiously.
"How you handle being without your sister," Loki said. "And your use of your abilities."
"I don't handle being without my sister," Amy said, looking down a bit again. "Obviously."
"Unsurprising, if you two are together most of your time," Loki said with a shrug.
"She's given up a lot," Amy said quietly. "She could have a normal life, if it wasn't for me."
"So you blame yourself for holding her back." Loki snorted and shook his head. "If she wished to have a normal life, she would have gone already."
"What's to say she doesn't?" Amy asked. "She couldn't now, not when she's being searched for the same as me. It's just my fault in the first place that they even know about her."
"Why do you think that?" Loki asked. "Did they not know about your parents? So then is it not reasonable to think that they would know about your sister even if you did not exist?"
"They probably knew," Amy allowed. "But they took her because my X-gene was brought to the front, and she is my twin. They thought they could do the same to her."
