Amy couldn't help but giggle a little.
"That's mean," she chided as she watched the kittens slide on the kitchen tile. |
"But highly entertaining." Loki grinned as he sent the toy bouncing in the middle of the kittens before rolling it along again, watching scramble and pounce and slide into each other.
Amy rolled her eyes some and settled in to watch him play with the kittens. Because that was really exactly what he was doing.
Loki just grinned and settled in to play with them for a while before he flicked his fingers one last time, sending the jingly toy skittering away across the living room again and leaving it to the mercy of whichever kitten got it first.
"A dangerous, almighty god playing with kittens," Amy teased. "Nobody would ever believe me if I told them."
Loki snorted. "I am a trickster," he pointed out. "A god of mischief. This counts as mischief, however minor."
"Still," Amy said. "Kittens. Ferrets would be more believable, I think."
"Ferrets?" Loki blinked. "I do not know these ferrets of which you speak."
Amy blinked.
"You've never heard of ferrets?" she asked. After a moment she got up and, carefully stepping around playing kittens, grabbed her sister's tablet. Turning it on, she pulled up an internet search and let it ping for pictures of ferrets. She showed it to him. "These?" |
Loki shook his head, looking rather fascinated. "Asgard does not have many of the creatures found here on Midgard," he said, browsing through the pictures. "And I have not spent much time in this world."
"I see," Amy said. She watched him as he looked through the pictures. After a moment, she reached for her phone and typed a message to her sister. I may or may not have just introduced a trickster god to the concept of ferrets.
Really? Pictures or it didn't happen, Lea texted back with a grin. Because really this was just too fun to pass up.
Loki browsed through the pictures a bit, quickly finding websites and reading about ferrets. Because now he was intrigued. |
Amy grinned a bit and caught a quick picture of Loki poring over the tablet, and sent it to her sister. It happened, I swear. I think I accidentally made him want a ferret.
I'm down for that, ferrets are awesome. It can play with our kittens. Lea grinned. Because this was just awesome.
They would try to eat it. But Amy couldn't help but grin a bit.
Not if the ferret is as big as they are, Lea texted back. She glanced over to make sure Tony was still occupied with whatever he was programming before she went back to snacking on her trail mix.
There are six of them. They'd manage. She glanced at Loki and back to her phone. Can you just imagine it, though? A trickster god with a pet ferret?
Oddly enough, I can. Please tell me he's actually researching ferrets and it's not just me thinking this might actually happen. Because that would be epic.
I really think he is. Amy looked over again, trying to see the screen of the tablet. What have I just unleashed?
More furry creatures. Tony's going to flip, this will be great. Lea snickered.
Loki was indeed looking up how to care for ferrets, what ferrets needed, how many to keep together, and where to get them. Because they sounded like fascinating and fitting pets. |
Amy sighed slightly and set her phone down again, picking up a kitten and snuggling it. The little thing mewled and squirmed to get down so it could go back to playing with its brothers and sisters.
Loki looked over at her with a raised eyebrow. "You seem to be feeling better," he commented, setting the tablet aside.
"My sister's still awake, we're talking," Amy admitted. "It helps."
"Ah. I see." Loki was quiet for a moment. "What do you two talk about? On an average day."
"Staying safe," Amy said after a moment. "Making sure the others don't find us. Trying to keep our heads down so we're not caught."
