"Have you ever not been worried about that?" Loki tilted his head. Because if that had been a constant worry, that would explain a lot of things.
"We were okay as kids," Amy said. "They didn't come for us until we were older. And for a while, we were good little workers. But then we left, and we've been running ever since."
"I see." Loki was quiet for a moment as he considered that. "I imagine that makes it difficult to relax."
Amy didn't respond to that. She couldn't remember the last time she and Leandra had honestly relaxed.
Loki nodded. That's what he'd thought. "We will need to work on that as well," he said. "You will be better able to control your talents if you are relaxed."
Amy shook her head a bit.
"We can't ever relax," she said. "They find us if we relax and there's only so many places we can run." |
"So you don't trust anyone else to keep you safe," Loki mused. "Interesting. I would have thought, as you are staying here, you would trust Stark."
Amy just shrugged a bit. She didn't necessarily trust anyone aside from Leandra; but for the moment a tentative truce was alright.
Loki shrugged and stood. "You should eat. Humans require regular meals, or so I am told."
Plus he wanted to research these ferrets more and see if he couldn't come up with something. |
"Maybe later," Amy murmured. "Not hungry right now." Mostly true; she could feel the first stirrings of hunger, but she could easily ignore it for a while longer.
Loki shrugged. He wasn't going to push. Not on this. Instead he stood.
"Then I shall see you later today." |
Amy blinked and looked at him.
"I would have thought you would be sick of me by now," she said. |
"Why would I be?" Loki asked. "I still have much to teach you." He smirked a bit at that, because he did have a lot to teach her, and he wasn't sick of her. He did think he needed to break her of some of those self-deprecating habits though.
"I'm not exactly good company," Amy pointed out, gently petting the kitten that settled in her lap.
"Better than any of the others in this gods-forsaken tower," Loki grumbled. Because while Clint was fun to scare, he rather liked not being perforated.
Amy couldn't help but grin a bit. She had a fair idea of who he was talking about.
"I don't imagine any of the others really appreciate your particular brand of fun," she said. |
"No, they don't." Loki made a bit of a face at that, because Natasha had made it clear that she Did Not Approve.
And she was scary. |
Amy couldn't help but smile a bit. She could understand where he was coming from, somewhat.
"In any case, I should let you rest before breakfast." Loki stood. "I shall see you later, Amy."
"Alright," Amy said. She wasn't entirely convinced he would actually come back, but she supposed anything was possible, so she just nodded and let him leave.
Loki did indeed come back later on for her lesson, and over the next few days. Because he could be honest when he wanted to.
Amy was surprised, the first time he came back, and she gradually got used to him hanging around. She had to admit, it was nice not being driven to control someone. And the meditations were very nice. She actually almost relaxed. Almost.

Lea and Tony returned after a few days, a little more easy around each other. Up until Tony discovered the little pet project Lea had been playing with in Malibu and had implemented once they'd gotten back to the Tower.
It didn't take long for Tony to realize exactly what the project had resulted in, especially once he pulled up his basic screens in the lab.
"What is this?" he asked when Lea went by. "I thought I told you not to touch my stuff, who said you could go and install something without my say-so?" |
Lea blinked. "Um, I asked Jarvis," she said after a moment. "Have you even looked at it? It's not bad, really. It's just a little thing I did in Malibu."
