I actually have an idea for a double-up sort of thing, if you're interested~

It combines a few of your ideas, too... Basically, there's a couple of childhood friends that have an arranged marriage sorted out by their parents, however, one day the boy serves aboard a naval ship and never comes back. He's presumed dead, but he's become a pirate. This pirate ends up falling for a mermaid he meets on an island his men are exploring.

The girl he was supposed to marry sets out to find him aboard a naval ship, on which there's a commander that is sent as her body guard. Those two eventually hit it off, but things get complicated when the two that are arranged to be married finally find each other on that island, but they are already over each other and fallen for the other people. So, mermaid x pirate, lady x naval commander.

That sounds like a interesting idea
