It's cheap gold farming. That's the sad, honest truth. Buying the commons cheap then selling them back once they hit the regular store for quick gold gain. It's why the sellback store is closed during events.

I never do that.
I usually hoard the items.
sometimes I sell them back later, if i need quick gold for a CI and I don't really need the item.
but most of the time I hoard the stuff.
