I've never actually heard anyone say it the ass pronunciation when saying asshole...always with the r sound arsehole...even if they spell it asshole...[headdesk]

WherededIGo 02-02-2014 09:19 AM

I make a point of pronouncing it with an R [sweat]
I don't often here people calling each ass holes as much as seeing it typed so [rofl]
One of the pleasantries of being in school [rofl]

Ling 02-02-2014 09:32 AM

Well, like if people were saying it out loud it'd be said and pronounced like arsehole...quite clearly with the rrr of the r in there but some would write it asshole anyway despite pronouncing it the same as those who would spell it arsehole.

hehe

I'm glad I was able to mention the offensive term in this forum and to be able to have a discussion about my observations in relation to the terms without people thinking i'm crude...hopefully.

WherededIGo 02-02-2014 09:36 AM

I hear more people pronouncing it as asshole :O
I guess it depends where you are then [rofl]

But I guess when its without the R, its more offensive. Unless you have a weird obsession with donkeys

Ling 02-02-2014 10:01 AM

but see, if you were actually talking about an asshole with the intended meaning of 'donkey hole' it could be interpreted in different ways depending on the context...

a hole made of donkeys, a hole with a donkey in it, or a hole where a donkey resides, a hole that belongs to a donkey...there are probably more...but those are just a few interpretations I came up with. that don't actually refer to anus.

WherededIGo 02-02-2014 11:02 AM

Okay I'm confused [rofl]

Generally no matter what it can mean, people usually go with the most popular definition in that context.
Unless you're one of those people who annoy the socks off everyone by pulling out every possible definition and rubbing them in everyones face.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 02-03-2014 10:31 AM

xDD What the heck, gaiz~

I use asshole. And pronounce it like that. Because I'm 'Merikan! [rofl]

From this site: “Arse” | Not One-Off Britishisms
Quote:

Arse and ass look different in print. However, in Britain, where non-rhotic (that is, silent r) pronunciation is the standard, they would sound the same.
If that's true and R is usually silent, it probably just got dropped in writing eventually in the States. And loss the E because weird. [lol] And got another S to separate from as.
Yay speculations! [rofl]

WherededIGo 02-03-2014 10:35 AM

Must just be an Australia thing then [rofl]

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 02-03-2014 10:37 AM

Yeah, you lot are weird as all get out. [lol]

[:P]

WherededIGo 02-03-2014 10:38 AM

We are [rofl]
We're so bogan [gonk]

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 02-03-2014 10:52 AM

What's dat word?! Bogan! [:O]

I was watching this show the other day that took place in Australia. [lol]
House Hunters show. Was this Aussie and this American looking for a good place to do some gold digging. ;o

WherededIGo 02-03-2014 11:05 AM

Ah, I don't know how to explain it [sweat]
Um, unsophisticated kinda. Majorly so.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 02-03-2014 11:07 AM

Oooh interesting. [:O]

Iku learns! 8D

WherededIGo 02-03-2014 11:19 AM

Its mostly Aussie and Kiwi slang, so I kinda forgot that [rofl]

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 02-03-2014 11:35 AM

Wait, you forgot wut? [lol]

WherededIGo 02-03-2014 11:36 AM

I forgot it was Aussie/Kiwi slang, so I forgot the big world out there probably won't know it 8'D

And with that I'm gonna duck off to bed so I'm not hella tired at the end of the week. Night!

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 02-03-2014 11:40 AM

Ooh gotcha! [lol]

Hahah. Have a good sleep! [:B]

Antagonist 02-03-2014 03:04 PM

I learned ass = butt before I learned that ass = donkey. [sweat] I remember it confused me for a while when I first heard that ass = donkey. I was all, "Whaaaat? Why would they use a term for butts to call a donkey with?? [gonk]" [lol]

Elluh 02-04-2014 03:07 AM

When I came to the U.S, I didn't know English so slang was even more confusing. @A @ Now I just thinks its pretty funny.

If this were a post on facebook I'd soo 'like' it and give it a thumbs up!

This is why ass is such a ridiculous way of writing the synonym for butt, when there is arse, which, to me is the way you should write it...especially when ass is used to refer to a donkey...[XD]

Antagonist 02-04-2014 12:47 PM

Hahaha thanks? [XD];;;

Yeah...I use 'arse' more nowadays when typing online. IRL I don't use that word much. [lol]

WherededIGo 02-05-2014 11:53 AM

Arse seems a little less rude and obnoxious compared to ass for me. [rofl]. Less crude [yes]

Antagonist 02-05-2014 11:37 PM

lol Yeah, it sounds fancier to me than 'ass'. [lol]

Kenome-Chan 02-08-2014 01:10 PM

I call people arsefaces if that counts.
I just like the word arse.

I also like the word bosom.

I guess I just like words that people don't normally use.

Antagonist 02-08-2014 01:12 PM

My swearing has been getting worse and worse over the years...the Internet is such a bad influence on me. [XD];;;
