I'm new here and was wondering is someone could explain how this site works.

Hello there! :o Welcome to Mene and hmm, Mene is fun and the best thing to do is to just explore and to post as much as you can~ You can check out hangouts in the Mene Nation section, I'm sure someone would be delighted for you to join in and chat about things. c:
The best thing to do is to just try out a few sections on the forum and see what you like; I'm sure in no time you'll make friends. :)

I like it. I find it easier to get around the longer I'm on it. I think I have it figured out now. :)
