The Cosplay Corner: keep that motivation flowing!
So, as some of you already know, most of my time this past week has been spent working on my fem!Hawke costume (Dragon Age 2). In all likelihood, I'll be spending most of this week (right up until Friday morning) working on it (well, that and the bf's, as there's still a bit to do on his costume as well), but things are starting to drag, so I figured I'd put up a to do list, some work in progress shots, and whatever else seems relevant, in the interest of making myself feel like I'm accomplishing something. Also, do feel free to share your own cosplay endeavors (photos, materials, ideas), as I will be converting this into a general cosplay thread once I've finished with this craziness.
Feel free to ask what various things are made out of or how I put them together, if you feel so inclined. I'm always up for answering questions. In addition to this, if you plan on working on a cosplay of your own and need some suggestions for materials and the like (or how you might go about making x), feel free to ask here and I'll see if I can't point you in the right direction. Hawke To Do List Punch holes in upper arm piece and string wax thread through for decoration Cut out other arm pieces (punch holes, dye and mold leather, sew in decorative threading) Cut, position, punch, and dye straps Make mechanism to connect straps and keep them still Anders To Do List Stitch feathers onto jacket Work In Progress Pics: Hawke |
My endeavor this week is pretty lame. My costumes are usually fairly cheaty.
I'm going as a SHIELD agent... Black suit and tie, sunglasses, and an ID badge provided by an inside connection. |
Hey now, it isn't cheating. I need me some SHIELD agents.
---------- Post added 05-20-2013 at 09:41 PM ---------- Any other cosplayers out there? |
Maybe "lazy" is a better word than "cheaty". I clearly don't put in 1% of the effort you and the bf are.
|
Heh. I put in the effort because, at present, I technically have nothing better to do. It's a nice way to break up the time between bouts of job hunting.
|
I figured it might be worth it, in some way. Glad you remember some of them. :)
|
I still need to make a new headscrew prop for my Stein cosplay; but for that, I'll need to travel to AC Moore for the headband I need. But I don't have the time right now; currently, the plan is to get over there next month, that way I'll still have enough time to get it together.

In fact, let me just leave this right here(plug, plug, plug, lol). [;)] |
*raises hand* I cosplay!
I have been too busy to actually finish my cosplay for Otakon this year though. |

Which con are you getting ready for? Quote:
What were you working on? |
I have a few costumes that have bits and pieces done. I have a Sailor Star healer from Sailor Moon that's almost done. I just need boots for. I also have an Angewomon from Digimon that I have to finish. I need to find a ribbon and finish the body suit and wings. It's just a lot of work and I haven't had time or anywhere to wear them so I kinda just put them aside and forget about them.

D'aww Shion! <3 Aaanywho, I'm always fascinated by people's gijinka designs. Did you come up with your absol design on your own, or did you have a net reference? |
Ooh~ Hi there! :D
|
Ello there, Skul. How are you?
|
Yeah, the wings are a pain in the butt. I'm using a wire frame with feathers over it but I might just do cloth wings instead if I get he rest of it done and the wings are just left. I had the body suit almost done but I'm dumb and used an older machine so it snagged it and ruined the leg. I'm using the machine I bought last year to work on dedicates now and it works much better. I did get an industrial machine working so now I can sew thick fabrics too. I'm excited to use that even though it's old.
|
I just confirmed that my SHIELD identification will be ready tomorrow. That basically means my latest (first?) cosplay is done. heheh
|
I'm good. :3 Tired... But good. I think I may go to sleep now. :/ Goodnight~

Anyone have any ideas on which type of glue to be using to glue some false nails onto gloves ?
|
What type of material are the gloves made out of?
|
They are supposed to be satin

Yes Shion <3 Only if I had my Nezumi come u to Maryland this year (Sadly, not happening) |
@ HIM - Hmm. Was gonna suggest hot glue (simple yet effective), but I dunno how that would to on satin, to be honest. Contact cement might work.
@Daisy - Ooooh, you up for sharing your design? (no worries, I have no intention of stealing it, I'm just curious). Did my own design for a Lilligant at one point, but never got around to making the outfit. Still might some day. |
The mothership suggested the glue gun which could be interesting as I'm going to have to wear them to glue the nails on in the right place.
EDIT- I has found a bigger problem. I can't tell which is the front and which is the back of my costume shorts DX DUH they tacked the hangy down bit up for postage XD |
@Seridano- Maybe once I can get my laptop to work! haha, I have been using my schools computer and my phone to get online lately.
