Do you have any clue of which materials would be best to use for a Reaver(From Fable III) cosplay? If not, I'm sure I can make do with finding things on my own- just wanted to know another's opinion on such. ^.^

I would say satin but that can be hard to sew. If you're not too bothered about it having a slight shiney then go for cotton.

Okay. Thanks, HIM_ROCK. :3

Ooooh, nice! I'll be sure to check that out.

Which con are you getting ready for?

Otakon... which I still need to pre-reg for. But I'm pretty sure I can get that done once I get paid next week... along with getting the last part I need for the head screw prop. [:D]

I'm working on a cosplay of Vanille from FFXIII for this year. I'm going to try and get actual bear skin for the bear skin skirt, but I'll probably have to settle for something else just in the interest of time.

Next year I plan on doing something more out of a fanfic for FFVII - Zack if he had lived through the compilation. Something that departs from the Shinra uniform but still has the comfortable elements of it (particularly the nice soft sweater top).

I want to do more than one per year, but I can't very easily because of annoying reasons. Hopefully that will change soon? Maybe?

Just for fun I want to cosplay one of the characters in a project my partner and I are working on one day, and that is going to be HARD as HELL. Reason being HIS HAIR HOW DO YOU EVEN

I know how it works, but it's going to be a PAIN to style a wig like that.

I unfortunately don't have any past photos though. So you'll just have to wait another -

...oh crap I can't believe it's only a month. Excuse me while I go panic.

Oh my God. I don't think that much hair EXISTS. [:O]

In the epilogue, that character ends up setting the world record for having the longest hair of anyone ever.

In order to make a wig like that, I'll have to get one that's already calf length and braid extensions into it as I go. And fishtail braiding a synthetic wig is hell in the first place.

...but a tip for anyone else who uses long wigs: it's easier if you treat the wig with conditioner - and if you don't have wig conditioner, fabric softener also works. Just soak it in a bucket with some diluted fabric softener, rinse it out, and it will tangle less easily and be a lot more manageable.

HIM_ROCK 05-26-2013 08:10 PM

HIM's Grell wig died. A horrible tangled death. HIM needs to check Undertaker wig.

Fish tail braiding you can cheat at. You do a regular braid then pull it out a bit

Aaaand back from Anime Boston. In related news: everything hurts (but I had a blast!) >.<

Well, that's what happens when you go to a con.

As far as AB goers, I've heard from some friends that it was great, and other friends that it was kind of meh. I dunno. *shrug*

Seridano 05-29-2013 04:31 PM

I rather enjoyed it, myself, though I didn't hit a lot of event/panels. Made quite a few new friends, got to participate in a somewhat naughty game show (where I met most of said new friends), and got some lovely pictures...not to mention the awesome Loki that chased my bf (dressed as Coulson) around every time she saw him. And, as an added bonus, my sister and her friend placed in the Masquerade.

Generally speaking, I find that cons are what you make of them. If you go with the mindset that you're going to have fun, you tend to do so.

Exactly! [:D]

By the way... guess who has two thumbs and pre-registered for Otakon yesterday? [:)]

Seridano 05-30-2013 02:22 PM

Oooooh, nice. I've still yet to make it to Otakon myself.
...someday...

Personally, I think Katsucon's a better con, in that it's not as HUEG as Otakon is, but it's not small, either -- as in it's not so big that you can't go outside, and oh, look, there's Chris Ayres. No, seriously.

But I think Otakon should be experienced at least once, with the caveat that you shouldn't expect to get any autographs unless you want to stand in disgustingly long lines. But the dealers' room and artists' alley are AWESOME.

Seridano 06-05-2013 03:04 PM

I haven't been to Katsu either. Almost went while I was in college (and made it onto the list to help staff it), but ended up not being able to go at the last minute and having to opt out.

Seriously, you should try and go someday -- it's 31 flavors of awesome, even with the jump in attendance due to hosting the prelims for the WCS the past couple of years. [:D]

Mirai wo Hanase 06-23-2013 08:48 PM

I keep my cosplays perfect.
Or at least I try to.

I cosplay several characters on many various sites.

Chesyeo 07-25-2013 03:47 PM

I attempted my first cosplay this year for WizardWorld ComicCon. I think it turned out pretty well. ^^'

I decided to go as a member of the Recon Corps from the anime "Shingeki no Kyojin".
The only issue is that the khaki pants are a bit snug. Is there a possible way to fix that? Perhaps a good wash to loosen the material?

HIM_ROCK 07-25-2013 04:17 PM

Just wear them as much as before the con if they're brand new ones

onsenmark 07-27-2013 05:37 AM

I still need to get my headscrew done before Otakon.

I mean, it's not like there's a LOT to do -- paint the headband, touch up the paint on the other parts, hot glue it all together. It's just the matter of actually getting it done... [sweat]

Keo 07-29-2013 08:35 PM

Im really envious of people who cosplay as I love it but I never get to do it 'properly' if you know what I mean so basically as soon as Halloween comes around I'm like YES DRESS UP TIME. The same with fancey dress parties so when my friend Billie announced she was haveing a superhero dress up omg kjfdhskdhjfs with excitement over that one, I spent hours making my own catwoman mask, I didn't have a sewing machine with my at university and I couldn't sew then anyway so i had to make do :/ but all my friends looked amazing and I think it was the best night out ever.
Sorry rambling.

I just wanted to express how much I wish I had a group of friends to cosplay with.

fishyfey 08-01-2013 02:12 AM

I do steampunk cosplay. Went to the Steampunk Worlds Fair for the last 2 years and loved it! Next year I'm going to Clockwork Alchemy in May. Have grand plans to make a fully functioning robot. Its going to be a crazy project. I hope I can pull it off.

onsenmark 08-02-2013 07:57 AM

My prop is almost done! Since I'm pretty much working up until I leave for Otakon, my brother is fixing it for me. So far, so good, as it's all together, and everything looks straight enough. Now it's just got to be painted, and everything should be good to go. [:D]

Pooh, I still need to finish packing, too. [sweat]

onsenmark 09-15-2013 06:15 AM

Yay, thread necro. [sweat]

So I had this idea last night that I should attempt to cosplay Nathan Explosion, and all I would need is a wig.

The only real problem? Thanks to lol smoking, I can't keep my voice that gravely and brutal for that long, otherwise, it's "hello, coughing fit". Which would prolly happen even if I didn't smoke. Have you ever heard that dude's voice? [XD]
