Kyra had known that would happen as soon as he started getting stubborn about it at the restaurant, so she wasn't surprised. Upset, yes, but not surprised.
Once Sam was sure he was going to go through with it, he went to find Runa.
"I need you to get me down there," he said when he found her. Runa blinked and glanced warily between Sam and Dean. |
Dean clenched his hands into fists but he didn't actually say anything. Oh yes, he knew that tone of voice very well. And he knew there was no arguing now.
"You're sure?" Runa asked carefully. Sam nodded once, decisively.
"I'm sure," he said. "They won't be kind to you, Sam," Runa pressed. "They will do everything they can to make you suffer, because the weak don't survive in Hell." "I'm not weak," Sam replied firmly. "Take me down there." Runa bit her lip. "Alright," she said. "Are you ready?" That made Sam pause for a moment, and he turned to look at Gabriel and Kyra. He went over to them. "I need to do this," he said softly. "I'll be alright." |
"For now," Kyra said quietly. She managed a weak smile. "We'll see you again."
"I promise," Sam replied. He hugged her, and then hugged Gabriel. Then he turned back to Runa and nodded. Runa gave a tight nod back, put a hand on his arm, and the two vanished.
Dean swore once they were gone and left to go get some air. Kyra just headed for the bathroom to take the longest shower possible.
Gabriel sighed and looked at Cas.
"You go look after Dean," he said. "I'll go with Kyra. Looks like it's up to us to keep things together right now." |
Castiel nodded. "They will calm down," he said quietly. "Eventually. They are nothing if not adaptable." But he glanced at the bathroom door and after Dean a little worriedly.
"This is going to take some time, Cas," Gabriel said. He looked in the direction Dean had gone in. "It's not going to be easy for him." He nudged his brother. "Go look after him."
Cas nodded and went after Dean, catching up to him and just walking with him.
Kyra was still upright in the shower, so far. |
Gabriel knocked on the bathroom door.
"Mind if I come in?" he asked. Hey, it never hurt to ask first. Dean didn't say anything when Cas caught up to him; he was tangled up in too many knots to even think about a conversation at the moment. |
"If you want." Kyra leaned back against the wall of the shower.
Cas just walked next to him quietly. He would at least keep track of Dean, even if Dean didn't want to talk. |
"You alright?" Gabriel asked, closing the door so the heat from the shower didn't escape.
"Not really." Kyra shrugged. "But I'll manage."
"Things will work out," Gabriel said. He was quiet for a moment. "Mind if I join you? I can wash your back for you, if you want."
"If you want," Kyra said again. "I won't object." She was too tired to object, anyway.
"Alright." Undressing quickly, Gabriel stepped into the shower with her. She had the water running hot, but that was okay. Reaching over, he pulled her into his arms gently, just offering comfort.
Kyra relaxed slowly there, unwinding a bit. She didn't move other than that, though. Not for a little bit. She finally shook herself and started actually washing off after the water should have been cold.
Gabriel let her go and gently started to wash her back when she turned around, being careful around her shoulder blades.
Kyra shivered a bit but let him. She did grumble at him a bit, though, habitually more than anything.
"Hey, I'm being good," he said to her, grinning a bit. "Trying to be careful."
"Good for you," Kyra agreed. "Normally you're much worse." She shifted a bit so he could get a little itch for her.
"I figure now's not the time," Gabriel said, getting the itch for her. "Unless you want to, then by all means, I can take care of that for you too."
Kyra shook her head. "No, you're right. Now's not the time." But she did relax back against him.
