PapillonCameo 08-11-2013 09:59 PM

Darren finished ministering to the scribe, and then moved to unbind the other man's wrists from the wall. He held the rope tightly, and tugged. He didn't feel very much like talking as he examined his own actions. Why had he done it? There had just been something so irresistible about the situation ...

Though in truth the spy knew he could have stopped at any time. So what was it truly which had pushed him so far? He wasn't going to apologize to the other man, certainly not that, and yet he did feel like doing so as he wordlessly tugged and pulled until they were both standing by the riverside.

Belatedly he realized he would need to stand there and watch, and that he'd not brought any soap for the captive. It didn't matter, Felix was indeed a captive, despite what had happened. Again his thoughts turned to confusion. Why? Because he found the man attractive? No, not quite that. It was the need he'd seen, the wanting, and being wanted and yet not. The contradictions of it all had pushed him further then he'd ever wanted to go.

Tachigami 08-11-2013 10:11 PM

He felt like a misbehaving pet on a leash. Being pulled along a tug at a time, each sharp jerk of the rope telling him to walk, and not hesitate. But it was so horribly uncomfortable to walk, to move at all unless it was to get out of his clothes, and yet he couldn't do that yet. He had to endure a difficult trek outside and away from the cave, to the gentle river nearby. At least now his tail did move freely, but he kept it away from his captor as he moved, and eventually, stopped at the bank of the river. Felix bit his lip, glancing at the taller man to his left. He'd have to be watched... This man would keep a very close eye on him, no doubt about that.

Shifting slightly, Felix grimaced. "Would it be so bad to untie my hands?" He asked, holding out his limp arms. He'd be hard-pressed to do much of anything if he didn't have what was left of his freedom to move.

PapillonCameo 08-11-2013 10:16 PM

The spy moved to comply, but not before plucking something from his belt. It was a miniature hand-held crossbow. The bolts, if well placed, could be just as deadly and painful as the weapon's larger brethren. This he waved in front of the captive, before setting it aside for but a moment and freeing Felix's hands.

"If you try to escape, I'll make sure you can make no more such attempts." There was no malice in the words, in fact Darren seemed to be rather devoid of emotion. That was far from true, but it was best for it to always appear so. If he showed any weakness, in any way, there was far too much of a chance that he would fail. Failure was out of the question.

Shaking his head, the golden eyed man moved to sit at the very edge of the water on a large boulder, and began to sharpen care for his surprisingly extensive collection of weaponry, all of which had been hidden somehow on his person.

Tachigami 08-11-2013 10:32 PM

Felix studied his wrists---they were chafed a little, but otherwise fine, but he didn't have time to focus on them, as a handheld weapon was produced and pointed very threateningly at him. It didn't quite terrify him as much as it should have---how would it feel to be shot by one of those sleek arrows? Felix caught himself, looking up and nodding once, curtly, and turned, awkwardly sitting on the grassy bank and quickly disrobing. Setting his clothes on the bank in a small pile, Felix slipped into the water and felt a shock assault his senses, wake him up. He would have normally waited a little while for some warming stones to heat the water a little, but he didn't have such luxuries here. Still, at least the cold water brought him back to a logical state of mind. If he didn't somehow give this... assassin... what he wanted, he may well get killed...

Felix breathed shallowly, ducking below the water and running his hands through his hair, cleaning it of that small bit of blood and the overabundance of sweat that had accumulated over a short amount of time. His tail floated atop the water until a fish surfaced and bit its tip, making Felix yelp and lift it protectively. He sighed, sidling toward the bank and pulling his clothes into the water, rubbing them against a rough rock. It was crude, but good enough.

PapillonCameo 08-11-2013 11:16 PM

From time to time he caught himself glancing up from his self imposed work to glance at Felix with more attention then was necessary. A wry smile flickered across Darren's lips after a while, when he heard a yelp and a rather comical sight met his eyes. Of course the captive's protective stance made sense, when one knew just how sensitive that extra appendage of his was.

"You didn't seem to mind when I did that," said Darren teasingly. For once there was actually amusement in his voice, and a twinkle in his eyes, though none of that lasted very long as he turned serious again. The soft sound of metal being sharpened against stone filled the air. Darren lifted the blade to eye it critically, before beginning to polish it. He always had a portion of his attention veered towards the captive, intent on any sound, a twitch caught from the corner of an eye .. Anything which might be the prelude to an escape.

Tachigami 08-12-2013 01:30 AM

Felix glared in his captor's direction, red-faced yet again and feeling as if he were a furnace, glowing with heat. No, he hadn't necessarily... minded. But the man was a human, a human! Whatever had bitten him had fins, scales. A fish with sharp teeth. And that was actual pain. Whatever it was about humans, if they inflicted it, the sensation was not of pain or anguish. If some wild animal did, however, attack him, or claw or bite him, it was more oriented toward pain. It wasn't as though Felix would tell him that, of course. "It just... s-surprised me." He growled, rubbing his clothes together. They seemed clean enough, and though he wrung them out tightly above the river's bubbling water, they still felt heavy and cool. He'd really need those replacement clothes if he had nothing else while they dried.

But really, why bother preserving what little modesty he still had? The river water, while somewhat swift, was clear as a bell. And besides, if he wanted whatever he thought Felix had locked away in his head, he'd have to deal with the more obvious issues of having taken someone without the thought of extra clothes. Felix bit back his lingering embarrassment and tossed his clothes onto the dry part of the bank, following them as confidently as he could, head and tail held high, hair wild on his head and down his back. Stepping to the rock his captor sat on, he offered his hands again. "I don't guess anyone will be seeing us, as it is." He offered, a bit of a thin reasoning, but good enough.

PapillonCameo 08-12-2013 01:36 AM

He remained quiet, mulling over how to get the information he wanted. The reaction he'd just seen was quite a different one indeed from earlier. Perhaps he could figure just what exactly was so different ... Hands thrust before him had Darren reacting instinctively. The man knew what the other had done, setting the clothes aside to dry, but he had been so absorbed in his thoughts that Felix's approach had gone unnoticed.

That was how he found himself shoving the pale haired man into the water and plunging his head beneath the surface for a few moments. He pulled up Felix by the hair, and then looked at him with cold eyes. "I want the information you were writing, and if not that, I want the code you were writing it in." He would gain both from the non-human being before him, no matter how.

Tachigami 08-12-2013 01:45 AM

He hadn't expected more cold water, and definitely not the way it was forced into his mouth, rushing by his ears. Drowning? Would he drown? Felix could hold his breath for a very long time, that had been demonstrated one day when he'd fallen through a rickety bridge and into a deep rapids. He spat the water out before he was able to speak again, biting down what he might have said if the man had only been grasping his hair.

"I write many things in many different languages." He huffed, grabbing onto the man's shirt for balance. "I don't know most of them, I just repeat what I see, the way it's supposed to be." He was feeling... angry now. Or maybe he was misinterpreting other emotions for anger. "If there's a code in the Indoctrination of Salazar, I wouldn't know. If there's a code in the Manuscript of Human Anatomy, I wouldn't know. I just copy what I see and if it's a language I know, all the better! I'm an artist! An artist of words, any scribe would say so. It takes a powerful eye to see what I see, to replicate it so perfectly. If some... spy came to get some coded documents duplicated, I wouldn't have known. I don't ask questions! And whatever you want from me, I don't have it!"

PapillonCameo 08-12-2013 01:50 AM

He scoffed and wrenched the other man's hands away. Fine then, he would make him copy down those manuscripts, and then the code would be there before his eyes. That would work would work very well ... Nearly as well as shoving a head under water and letting it remain there until it's owner began to flail and struggle, trying to breach the surface to get the life sustaining wind above.

After a few moments of this, Darren complied and tilted Felix's head back, so far back that he was probably struggling to stay upon his feet. "Then you'll copy for me the manuscript that man asked for. And if you fail ..." He let the threat hang.

Tachigami 08-12-2013 02:16 AM

Felix grimaced. It wasn't in pain, though, as his head was wrenched back so he stared at what little sky he could see through the trees. "And if I fail?" He egged. "What then? You'll... kill me? Drown me?" Then he thought of something---This man couldn't go back to his cottage to get the documents---they were probably burned. Just like the rest of his home. "You'll never find the documents now. When you brought me here you left the candles on my desk burning. They've probably already burned down so far they've eaten away everything I've ever had."

He breathed in quickly, pursing his lips so he didn't openly cry. Everything he had, gone. Gone because he left his candles untended. So many works he'd had finished for others, up in smoke... All his simple clothes, hand-made and plain furniture, everything he'd worked to gather over so long on what he was given for his work, which wasn't quite as much as he'd like. "It's... all gone." He breathed, as if it were an afterthought. Felix just couldn't believe the spot he was in...

PapillonCameo 08-12-2013 02:27 AM

His hand jerked violently at the realization that what the man said was true. It was such a waste! He needed those things, needed them to help prevent a coup against the rightful king. His mind flitted this way and that before he finally spoke. "Well then, you'll just have to remember what you can, or I'll slash your tail off." To emphasize his words, Darren reached out with his free hand to yank the at the pale thing, hard.

Tachigami 08-12-2013 02:41 AM

Felix screamed, not out of fear, though. Such a painful action to anything else only excited him, even at the threat growled out by his captor. "It g-grows back." He muttered. What use would such a thing be, after all, if it didn't regenerate? He breathed, shakily regaining himself. That yank had been far, far more intense than the first time the man had touched it, perhaps just out of curiosity. "Besides... I don't see why I should do anything. I don't even know your name and you're threatening me with a... a type of castration. Temporary though it may be. I don't work for you. I don't work for whomever you're running after! I'm caught in the middle and you won't admit you've made a mistake---and if I did know anything... how do you know I know so much?"

Really, Felix had taken many documents from people in dark overcoats or hats, with sour faces and ugly expressions. He might have memorized a lot of codes... He might have circulated a lot of classified, serious documents...

PapillonCameo 08-13-2013 01:42 AM

He grumbled silently beneath his breath, yanking at the appendage in his hand without really paying attention as he thought. What to do now? All his actions only served to wring emotions other then what he wanted from his captive. Darren was at a loss as to how to find another alternative. "Name's Darren." As to the rest he still had to think.

The spy growled lightly under his breath. The situation was so frustrating! No matter how Darren looked at it, there was always some pitfall he'd not forseen, and no way to adapt and change his plans to circumvent them.

Tachigami 08-13-2013 01:57 AM

Felix managed to clamp his mouth shut when the newly-named 'Darren' pulled his tail again. Why did he do that!? Did he secretly enjoy doing what he did to Felix? More than the pain? What was that about? "So what use am I?" He demanded brokenly, feeling his throat constricted. "If you kill me you've got nothing." He almost looked forward to it, really. If Darren's idea of torture was the use of a knife, water, the pulling of his tail? While it felt almost impossible to sit bottled up, with no form of relief otherwise, it was anything but truly painful.

His words were almost a compromise. It had that ring to it. Darren would have to think if he wanted Felix to replicate what documents he could clearly remember---and those documents were many, if not all.

PapillonCameo 08-13-2013 02:06 AM

He realized all of a sudden how he still held the other man, and flung him away, towards the hard ground of the shore with a sound of utter annoyance. "What then would you propose, hm?" Darren moved to dry ground, and bent to clasp the miniature crossbow. He let one of the darts fly, aiming it carefully so it grazed Felix's shoulder.

Maybe fire would work? He found himself curious. Was there nothing the other man couldn't take pleasure from? What was he anyway? Darren was a spy, he was paid to know how to gather information. He hadn't much time to study things other then his trade, or things essential to it. That was why he was so ignorant of his captive's species.

Tachigami 08-13-2013 02:18 AM

Felix yelped, scraping his back on the rough ground behind him as he fell and then startling at the sudden explosion along his right shoulder. The threat the sensation brought with it brought Felix's legs up and into a protective stance as he sat up shakily. "I don't know." He barked, swallowing quickly to avoid drooling. "I thought you had all the answers!" True, Darren had seemed so sure of himself before. Now he just seemed to be flailing and waiting for Felix to fill in the blanks. Felix, who didn't even know one side from the other. Was he kidnapped by the 'good guys', or not? Who had he been helping all this time?

PapillonCameo 08-13-2013 02:23 AM

Darren forced himself to calm down, taking a deep breath and steadying his shaking hand upon the hard wood beneath his fingers. This wouldn't do, showing such weakness before his captive. "I do know. Tell me what you remember, better yet, show me, and I will personally make sure you regain what you lost. Your home, your materials, everything. I can do that and more, so long as you remain my informant. Refuse, deny knowing anything and .." He let another dart fly, aiming this time for a foot.

If Felix wasn't quick enough, he'd find out what having one of the things in his skin felt like. Darren cared not what he needed to promise, or what actions he needed to take. Protecting the king, finding the information needed to save his life, was imperative.

Tachigami 08-13-2013 02:31 AM

Felix twitched back out of nature than fear of pain, watching the dart bury its metal head in the earth in front of him. Really? He thought he could bring all that back? All his work? His years of work!? Felix shook his head hard, gritting his teeth. "I had so much!" He yelled. "Not my home, not only all my clothes, my pictures, my... my things from home and school... All my work. All my replications. All the things I'd finished for priests and scholars and teachers and the king's archives. All that..." He growled as he breathed out. "All that, the original works and their copies. All gone. And you think you can snap your pretty little fingers and make all that better!?"

He shook his head hard, sending his pale hair flying wildly. "That's impossible. I can't bring any of it back. I've lost decades of history in a matter of hours." Felix's face broke into a small smile. "What do you think you can do that'll hurt worse than that?" Nothing, for sure. Even the threat of drowning didn't faze Felix. The way his head was held under water, moments from filling his lungs, his struggles almost fruitless... it sent his heart into a frenzy... Did fear and pain in general do that to him....? He'd never thought to answer that question.

PapillonCameo 08-13-2013 02:37 AM

"Do you really believe you were the only one to have those documents? I assure you, I have connections enough to return to you what you lost." If the man stopped being so stubborn and irritable. He let the crossbow fall and plucked a knife from the nearby rock. Cleaned, newly sharpened, he threw it at the other man's shoulder with a quick flick of the wrist. He followed the object at a run and dove towards the other man.

One quick movement had Darren twisting the captive's arm around in a painful position, while he used a knee to dig into Felix's gut. "You, work for the king? I am one of his spies, his assassin, and you are no more then a traitor." Darren hissed the words angrily as he bent down so his breath whispered against Felix's ear.

Tachigami 08-13-2013 02:44 AM

Felix couldn't help but cry out, but that was followed by an almost involuntary smile. "Ooooh, gods..." He twitched, feeling the pain work its way down his arm and torso in little prickles of lightening. "I work for anyone, I have no si-ides!" He felt reckless now, the object of so much influence on his body, the way Darren probably didn't realize he was making him feel. He gasped, and chuckled brokenly. "S-so, Darren... How long have you watched me? Months? How many times did you watch me bathe?" He laughed a bit more then, and shifted so Darren inadvertently twisted his arm a little more. Gods, the way it made him feel! Maybe he was a freak, but that was how he was, it was in his blood. The feeling itself made him just want to explode---again. And Darren was in such a precarious position.

PapillonCameo 08-13-2013 02:55 AM

The man was crazy! Darren shook his head and leaned harder against the other man's arm, purposefully making the knife he'd thrown dig in harder in the process. "Apparently not long enough to have seen your tail. I really should cut it." He was tempted to do so at the moment. It seemed like perhaps the only thing which could get a normal reaction from the other man, not all these chuckles and gasps, as if he actually enjoyed the pain.

"What in the worlds are you anyway? I thought demons had horns." And this man certainly didn't have any. Curiosity, frustration, tinged Darren's words as he tried not to let his emotions take control.

Tachigami 08-13-2013 03:04 AM

Felix bit his lip hard, fighting the urge to cry out again. "Aaah... You can... i-if you like... it'll gr-grow back in a day or two." He wouldn't utter a word. Not a word. If Darren hadn't figured it out by now, he probably wouldn't until Felix made it overly clear. The knife's blade disappearing further into his arm, sliding beside bone, was almost too much to take. He let his head fall back. "Oooh, maybe I am a demon..." He moaned. "I might find... Uh... I might find it simpler to just cut my horns off..." He did have horns---they were very small, so it was hard to tell unless one actually made an effort to move his hair. He sighed. "Aah... And you might like to stop pressing on that kn-knife unless you want to be washing your clothes too." Was that clue enough? For a spy Darren seemed blissfully unaware of his emotions, even the blatant pleasure Felix couldn't exactly bite back.

PapillonCameo 08-13-2013 03:13 AM

His eyes widened. Darren couldn't help but listen even harder then before to how each word was spoken, each little sound. He had suspected this, had suspected and yet he still shoved down hard on the other man's form, feeling the arm he held twist precariously close to breaking, or being dislocated, the knife's edge digging in even more ... Then he sprung back as if burned to try and evade what he knew would probably happen after hearing the ecstasy in the captive's voice.

Why did he feel so compelled to wring such feeling from the other man? It wasn't like he felt anything for him save curiosity, but his curiosity was what drove everything in Darren. Without his inquisitiveness, he was a dead man, would have been many times over if he'd not asked questions or simply made a glass shatter. Felix made Darren wonder. What if he used this or that, what if he did that to the other man? He shivered slightly, clamping his lips shut at the somewhat exciting thoughts.

Tachigami 08-13-2013 03:23 AM

Felix felt himself squeak as the weight was suddenly lifted, his arm freed and the blade wrenched out of him. Instinctively, he curled in on himself to hide what little bit he could, but still felt so frustrated that he couldn't get there as he had before. With just that little touch of his tail, which now swung left and right wildly, showing his energy level. He was wide awake and buzzing, something that was common with his kind and their levels of excitement. But it seemed he'd unnerved Darren.

Was it that easy? Surely this man was used to being in control, fighting over unexpected situations or getting through something he'd never encountered before. But a big part of Felix wanted to know how far Darren's curiosity would span. If he were going to be kept here, anyway, why not keep things as interesting as possible? Maybe it'd calm the spy down a little, because he seemed so tightly-wound...

PapillonCameo 08-13-2013 03:32 AM

An idea struck him down. Carefully, he moved forward and slipped his booted foot over Felix's tail. Instead of pressing down hard as he would have before, he simply left the appendage still. His knife, Darren held poised to let fly, but to where he did not know. He'd figure it out, he supposed. Absentmindedly, he noted how the wounds he'd inflicted before seemed already to have been well on the way to healing.

"If you cooperate with me, I'll keep doing things like this. If you refuse, I'll stop. I won't even touch you. Doesn't your kind need this type of energy to survive?" He would starve the man. No surer way to gather information then that, he supposed. Experimentally, he pressed down on the tail with his foot as he crouched down to lay the tip of his blade to Felix's back, feeling a kind of thrill at the situation. This was no normal situation and with most prisoners, things would have been completely different. "Well?"
