^ it's only a coincidence. Most of the artists I know are right handed

Well now I feel dumb XD
I wonder why all of my
art friends are left handed.

^ scientists say the the left part of the brain controls imagination and the right part of the brain controls analytical thinking, perhaps that's why. But I dont take these facts into account too much, because even if i'm left handed i'm pretty good in math. And on the other hand, one of the most amazing artists I know are right handed (including my father). My BF is an amazing musician and knows how to compose great music and he's right handed also.

I think sometimes scientists just are like.

I was actually quite convinced that left handed people are typically the analytical and mathematical geniuses. Most of my math and science teachers have been left handed, and I know there quite a few famous scientists that were left handed.

All in all, though, right handedness is by far the most dominant hand in the world's population, so as such it is going to be the most dominant hand in every profession.

Also, I'm right handed and have been quite creatively and artistically gifted my whole life. [yes]

I'm right-handed.

I was actually really good at drawing for my age when I was younger and everyone expected me to become an artist, but I kind of lost interest in it as I got older so I never really developed my artistic abilities that far, if that makes any sense. I do paint occasionally and do fairly well with it, and I supposedly have extremely nice handwriting... so I'm not really sure whether I go against the norm in terms of dominate hands and artistic ability or not. xD

In a way I've always kind of wanted to be left-handed, though.

In terms of my art and drawing I can relate to what Mika Rose said, about being really good at it for my age as a kid, but never developing it any further at a certain point....I think for me this would've been at around age 12-15...by that time I started drawing manga style people, which started after watching Sailor Moon.

I'm left handed and do most of the things left handed, outside of playing certain sports and like using a computer (I really can't handle left handed mouses they just feel terribly unnatural plus that makes keyboard short cuts so much more complicated) I can also do certain things with both hands though don't give me a pair of right handed scissors because I can't do crap with them.

My mom told me that when I was a kid she tried to give me stuff in my right hand and I would either just grab them with my left or switch the items to my left hand. I'm also the only one in my family who is left handed and that made growing up and learning certain things a tad difficult.

Huh? How is being left handed made certain things difficult? o.o the other way around - it's easier for us to use a fork and knife (knife on the right and fork on left).

Besides using scissors - I always had trouble (even today) using scissors, only because they're made for right handed people.

But other than that, how is being a lefty made something difficult to learn?

What I AM annoyed with being a lefty is using hot keys when playing an MMORPG for skills. It's not as comfy as with right handed people.

But what's more annoying than being a lefty is having short fingers lol. I can't reach certain keys so I can't use them as hot keys. Whereas my BF can. (like reaching the F3, F4, 5,6,7, keys with not difficulty or using Z or X and all those keys at the bottom.

I'm right-handed, although I can steer my car better with my left hand.

That's interesting, about driving better with the less dominant hand...I personally am not that experienced at driving so I use both and keep my right hand on when I need to change with my left.

I'm right handed. I can't use a knife and fork properly though because my left hand is pretty much out of control when I try to do anything with a degree of precision with it.

@Mogwai: My friend is left handed and he found most things difficult to learn too as they tend to be targeted to right handed people. Writing is a huge problem for him still, especially with ink. If he doesn't write at an odd angle he ends up getting ink smudged everywhere.

I draw and write with my left hand but I can also write with my right hand.
So I guess I am ambidextrous.
Funny thing is that I broke my left wrist when I was younger and that is why I am able to write with both hands. I had to attend school with a cast on my dominant hand so I had to learn to write with my right hand xD. Though if I try to draw with my right hand I cannot and it ends up looking like a 5 year old did it.

I usually write and draw with my right, but sometimes I paint or draw with my left. Writing is a fine motor skill though that while I can kindof do with my left, requires more effort than is worthwhile to do.

But I'm multi-handed. Some things I do with my left and some I do with my right.

I'm a musician and I'm right-handed, which is very good for classical musicians because all of the instruments are made for righties. Also, many classical instruments can only be played right-handed, like the bowed strings. I myself play cello and double bass, so I'm happy to be naturally right-handed just because it makes the initial learning process that much easier.

I'm able to write with my left hand but not very well by comparison. In the past I've practiced and got fairly good at writing lefty, but it was always less natural no matter how much I practiced, and it always took longer to write with my left hand even if it looked really good. I've never been able to draw with my left hand.

I'm an archer and I can, however, shoot lefty. I've done archery since I was 6 years old though and I'm an "expert" I guess, so that makes it a little easier to indulge some left-handed explorations.
