Temari blushed lightly at the praise. "Thanks Gem-chan, but I'm better than Shika-kun," at this, her eyes widened and she covered her mouth quickly with her hands.

Gemini turned, wide-eyed, to the wind user. "Shika-kun? Oh my gosh, you like him!" She said gleefully. "Oh but that's perfect! You and Shikamaru-san are perfect for each other. He needs a strong woman to motivate him and you need a smart man to keep you interested."

"You are not to say a thing to anyone," Temari hissed, blushing lightly before changing the subject. "Now then...you wanted to learn how to read and write or continue gossiping?" |

Gemini paused for a moment, smirking. "Well, to be perfectly honest..." She teased, before getting serious. "Okay, I want to learn. Gossip can happen later. And don't worry, I won't tell. I don't want your brothers to hurt Shikamaru-san." |
Gemini...I know where you sleep and where the peroxide is. Don't test me," she responded, though the light blush on her face took out any malice from the threat. Not that she was going to go through with it anyways. "Now then...where to start," she wondered.

Gemini chuckled but didn't say another word about it. "How about we start with the basics? Don't people learn the Alphabet and their own names first?" She asked.

"Yeah, people usually learn the alphabet and how to write their own names first," Temari responded. "Then...we can start with that, wait here please" she requested as she went to get a few books.

Gemini waited. She already knew how to write her name- her first name, at least. She wasn't exactly sure what her surname was now, after finding out her father's identity. Maybe Gaara could help her figure it out...

Yugito sighed happily as they finally made it back to Konoha. Tsunade told the two of them to rest for a few days and she would make a grand speech later that week concerning her acceptance as the Godaime Hokage, and then a private meeting concerning promotions to Chunin. Relaxing on the couch, she wrapped her tail around her body before quickly falling asleep.
(lol. yes, I'm sure Gaara could help her out with her surname...) Temari came back after a while, ignoring the looks that she got when she picked up some of the books from the children's section, as well as a few from the young reader's section. She just hoped the books that she picked out were good, especially since she remembered enjoying them as a child. "We'll have to stop by a shop later for some paper so that you can practice writing," the windmistress said as she got back into hearing distance of the vixen. |
Once home, Naruto didn't bother showering or changing, he simply went to his bed and flopped down, falling asleep almost instantly.
((lol yeah, totally. Hehehe)) Gemini nodded at the statement, though most of her attention was taken up by the books Temari was carrying. She couldn't wait to start. |
Yugito woke up after several hours of sleep. Stretching lightly, she got up off the couch and headed into the kitchen, intent on making herself something to eat.

Naruto woke shortly after that, stretching. He felt much better after a good nap. He decided to go take a shower, so he grabbed a fresh set of clothes and headed for the bathroom. On the way, he saw Yugito. "Hey, Kitty-chan. I'm going to take a shower, 'kay?" He said.

"Alright,"Yugito replied from the kitchen, finally settling on an apple. Washing it off, she took a bite into it.

Naruto took a good long shower, getting himself completely clean before he got out and dressed. He didn't bother combing his hair, since it refused to lay flat anyway. Then he went back out into the kitchen, more awake now. "Man, that felt good. How are you doing, Kitty-chan?" He asked, going to raid the fridge.

"Better, now that I've my cat nap," Yugito replied as she yawned lightly, still waking up. Sensing someone else entering the kitchen, she quickly got into a defensive stance with her claws raised, chakra lengthening them.
The ANBU member chuckled lightly. "Good reaction time there Yugito-san. Lady Tsunade has requested both you and Uzumaki Naruto to meet her posthaste. I can shunshin you both there if you're ready now," he replied. |
Naruto's reaction was just as fast, a kunai in his hand and ready to attack faster than anyone could see. He relaxed only slightly when the ANBU spoke. "I'm ready if you are, Yugito-chan." He said carefully. Honestly, he wasn't completely trusting of the ANBU, but he didn't really trust anyone much anymore.

Yugito thought it over for a few seconds before nodding. If the old lady wanted something from the two of them, she thought it would be a good idea to see what it was all about. The fact that she was curious about it never entered her mind at all. Nope.
Tsunade was waiting in her office for the last two people to show up. Shikamaru was already waiting in her office, muttering about how troublesome it was that they were here and what the new Hokage wanted. Once she was sworn into office, she looked over the results of the Chunin Exam, albeit reluctantly, and saw that four members were eligible for Chunin Rank. Since Gemini Starr was no longer part of the village and transferred to Sunagakure, that only made three: Shikamaru Nara, Naruto Uzumaki and Yugito Nii...who she had a feeling would eventually be named 'Yugito Uzumaki'.... |
((Wolfie would rather not mess with the rankings here. Sure, it bothers her that Shikamaru got promoted and Naruto didn't, but it just seems like something that should be left alone. Naruto as a chunin would mess with every mission he ever got from that moment on...))
When they got there, Naruto was surprised to see Shikamaru in the room. "Hey, what's he doing here?" He asked, pointing at the other boy. |
(As much as I don't want to do it...I can see your point. If that's the case, how about Yugito getting promoted, but turns it down stating she'll take it when Naruto gets the promotion as well?)

"I asked you all to come here so that I can tell you about promotions to a Chunin Rank," Tsunade replied, getting all three to look at them with surprise in their eyes. "Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to give you a promotion, Naruto...everyone else thinks that you do not deserve it at this time. From what I read, I disagree but my vote was overruled by the council. If you get to the third round again in the next exams, it may be considered once again," she said with a scowl.
"What about me?" Yugito asked. She had a feeling that she was going to get promoted, but at the same time, did not want to be separated from her boyfriend if it could be helped. "You, and Shikamaru Nara, are hereby promoted to Chunin Rank and as such gain all responsibilities and perks that go with the title. Tsunade said as she handed the two their jackets...only to receive Yugito's back immediately. However, the Hokage wasn't all that surprised when she heard the reason why. |
Naruto seemed to wilt when he found out he wouldn't be promoted. How would he ever become Hokage if he didn't advance in rank? Still, it made him feel a little better that Yugito turned down the promotion. Once they left, he turned to her. "You didn't have to do that, you know. I feel kinda guilty for holding you back like that..."

"You aren't holding me back Foxy-kun. They don't want to promote you because of your burden, and I, in true faith, cannot take the promotion when I'm a Jinchuuriki like you," she said. She was telling the truth, not wanting to be a Chunin while you aren't. "It isn't fair..."

Naruto smiled at his girlfriend. "Well, thanks. I really appreciate it." He said, pulling the neko girl in for a hug.

"You're welcome," she said as she returned the hug.
