Matsuri nodded, not sure where this was going. She couldn't see how weapons could protect people. "Yes, a few times." She answered.

"Alright then. My sand is a weapon, and I have used it that way to protect myself, which is how I thought to live by proving my existence at the deaths of others. Luckily I was able to meet a few people who showed me the error of my ways and was able to show me that isn't how it's meant to be. Now..." at that point in time, Gaara used his sand to create a dense shield in the shape of the tanuki that he housed. "I also create constructs that will serve to protect. Nothing can get past through this thanks to how dense I've made the sand I possess. Does that help?" he asked, hoping that it did. If not, he was unsure as to how else to explain it to Matsuri.

Matsuri blinked a few times, unsure how to react. "I...I understand how a shield can protect, but a shield isn't a weapon." She said.
Gemini put a hand on Gaara's arm. "Gaa-kun, it's going to take time for her to learn this lesson. One's past can't be so easily undone...and perhaps you should hold back a bit on your own history until she knows you better." She suggested. Hearing that Gaara once thought he lived to kill was probably a bit much for the faint-hearted Matsuri. |
Gaara was about to respond that a shield could indeed become a weapon, but stopped when he heard Gemini and what she said. After that, he apologized if he scared her needlessly.

Matsuri shook her head. "N-no, that's okay...I don't understand yet, but I'll try my best." She said.
Gemini smiled kindly at her. "Okay, that's the best anyone can ever do, right?" She said. |
Gaara smiled lightly at that before nodding. "That's all I can ask for Matsuri-chan" he replied.
"You sure that Tsunade-sama will be okay with us asking to head to Kumo?" Yugito asked her boyfriend. |
((We should skip to the kidnapping. At this point we're just treading water.))

(Probably for the best. Though at this time, what should we do? Matsuri as a friend later on and letting her crush die out or Gemini agreeing to see where those feelings between Matsuri and Gaara go?)

Later, after the class was let out, Gemini went back to the training area to see how Matsuri was doing. What she found was a message to Gaara. She picked it up, read it, turned stark white, and ran for Gaara. She caught up to him, panting. "Gaara! Gaara, look at this!" She said, handing him the paper. It was a demand that Gaara turn himself in, or the kidnappers would take and kill someone important to him every day, starting with Matsuri.

Gaara took the letter from Gemini and looked it over. Once he had read the contents he crushed the paper in his hand, showing how angry he was at this. "Gem-chan...I'm going, you realize that, right?" he asked.

"I'm going with you." Gemini said in answer. "She's my classmate, and we don't know what these people want with you. It's too obvious a trap to send you in alone. I also think we should send a message to Konoha."

"I agree with you there, I'll send a message, but we aren't going to wait for the team, not when someone's life is danger," Gaara stated as he headed towards the Kage Tower in order to get a messenger bird. He just hoped that it was Naruto and his team that would come.

Gemini nodded. "Understood. I agree, anyway. They'll have to catch up." She said, going the opposite way to grab a few supplies before they left. "I'll meet you at the gate."

Gaara nodded before heading inside the tower and making his way towards where he needed to go. Once he got there, he quickly wrote down a message and tied the letter to a messenger bird before letting it go, telling it to head towards Konoha.

Naruto happened to be in Tsunade's office when the messenger hawk showed up. He had been trying to ask if he and Yugito could go and visit Yugito's old village together, but he shut his mouth at the look on the lady Hokage's face.
Tsunade finished reading the message and put it down. "Naruto, I'm going to give you a list of people. Gather them and bring them here as fast as you can." She said, earning a nod from the blonde. |
Yugito watched her boyfriend race out of the room once Tsunade gave him a list of people. Turning towards the female blonde, the neko cocked her head in curiosity before asking what was on the message

Tsunade sighed, looking tired. "A message from Suna. A student there was kidnapped..." She went on to explain the situation. By the time she was done, Naruto was back with the people he had been sent to get. Tsunade explained again, briefly. "You'll need to hurry."
Once Naruto was filled in on the situation, he was instantly raring to go. "Alright, let's go then! Gaara needs our help!" |

Yugito nodded after she heard what happened, having a feeling that the Akatsuki was somehow involved. Seeing her boyfriend return and hearing it for a second time, she was willing and ready to go rescue Naruto's friend and most likely future brother-in-law. |
