Are we spamming your inbox?

I'm in the process of sending a newsletter out, slowly slowly... as many of you know, our email system is a teensy bit of a butt, and I've got to jump through hoops to get it to be compliant.

So every day I've been sending out approx 10k emails. I started with the oldest accounts and I'd got up to people who joined on June 30th 2010, before Inso tells me he's doing stuff to the email system and not to send any more out until he says so, as the ones I've sent already are backed up by several days.

At this point I've already been getting people replying with comments like, "WTF ARE YOU DOING WOMAN?! I'VE GOT THIS EMAIL 25 TIMES ALREADY!!!" Possible use of hyperbole for dramatic effect there [ninja]

Today Inso mentions 10k spam Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. Yes, that's 10 thousand [headdesk] The ones that have been replying to the newsletter with ads have so far been almost exclusively AOL emails (I currently have 400 spam ad responses and bounced emails to ~~incinerate~~ deal with, and it's just gonna increase!

Which leads me (finally) to the point of this announcement [oops]

Inso has resent the emails that I've already sent. This send being a detox as I understand it, a cleanse that will remove the spam accounts from the mailing list. So a very necessary thing, but an annoyance to those of you who get the email yet again.

For this you have my abject apologies. Feel free to respond to repeat emails with abuse and profanity if it makes you feel better, I will do my best to return the favour. [insane]

If you do get the mail again, please open it before you toss it. Deleting them unopened doesn't do our email ratings any good [no]

HIM was wondering if it was still in existance the other day this has answered it.

I guess some other people emailed Jelly back as well.

As long as it's not something really wrong, I don't particularly care about the emails. I was just reading them to make sure there was nothing new in them, and then ignoring them.

Meh I kinda figured that's what was goin on. Duplicate E-mails don't bother me.

Oh, I wondered why I was getting multiple emails. XD

ai ai captain! i have yet to get a multiple email, but then again the only emails i get from mene are to my mule... so it all evens out i guess.

I was so thinking of replying, but then I had to leave, so I was going to do it later. I shall do it now! Muahahahaaa!

Jelly, I made a gmail acct just for my Mene stuff because my regular account was always marking it as spam, and I couldn't change it for some reason.

So I haven't been checking my gmail regularly.
I just went there and noticed that I've been getting emails every time somebody sends me a private message here in Mene.
Yet I don't have the box checked that allows this. (In the "Edit Options" section of Settings)

Is there somewhere else that we turn this off?

Sure thing boss lady! I've only gotten one so far but I'll keep my eyeballers peeled for incoming. ;)

I emailed back about the second one because I figured something was off. Glad you're sorting it!

I wondered why I was getting duplicate emails with the same announcements. It didn't bother me, and it wasn't a biggie. I made sure to open each of them before deleting. (In hopes it didn't mark your email as spam for deleting it without opening it...)

I don't mind getting duplicate e-mails~ Even if it's an entire page of randomness in my inbox it's fine because I know Mene wouldn't ever intentionally spam us. [hug]
