The Shadowhunters [Clarius and Zimm]

The Shadowhunters: OOC Thread for Clary & Zimm
~.~.~.~.~
Adrian B. Cessecks
18
Race: Nephilim
Job: Shadowhunter
Features: Cold blue eyes, dark brown hair long and cropped lazily at the chin (almost black), pale, built...
Background: Adrian was told that his parents were murdered, in honesty. He had been raised by Werewolves, making friends with the Downworlders, regardless of the fact of what he is. No one judges him, believing in a revolution that the Upworlders and Downworlders could finally live in piece.
Personality: Adrian doesn't have many people to talk to, so he's quiet and has grown to like to keep to himself. He loves helping out his family as well as working out for how athletic his body was born to be. He understands things easily, but his parents is a touchy subject. He can be friendly, but he easily judges people if he doesn't know them and they've done something wrong to him or to someone around him without a legit reason.

The sun was just setting outside as Adrian sat before his guardians. After all these years, it was still odd to call them his parents. Katrina and Idian, part of one of two Werewolf packs in downtown Columbus, held hands as they looked at Adrian with concern. In the small living room of their one-floor apartment, Adrian shook his head.

"That can't be. I thought that I was-" His words were cut off by Katrina.

Katrina was a lovely ebony woman who always had a kindness that most people didn't have nowadays. "Look, Idian and I thought it was best to wait to tell you, when you were ready."

"So..." Adrian fumbled his fingers, his blue eyes going from Idian to Katrina and back. "My parents were Shadowhunters..."

"Which makes you one as well," Idian completed.

Aidrian blinked. He abruptly stood, looking around. "I need to think," he murmured as he grabbed his denim jacket from the hall tree, shoving the apartment key into his pocket as he immediately left, hurrying down the three flights of stairs of the apartment building until he reached the entry hall. He opened the door and passed out into the fall evening air, the smell of dead leaves strong in the air.

The streets were busy for it being part of the downtown area. He walked slowly, his hands buried in his jacket pockets as he breathed in the fresh fall air. God, he missed fall. It was about time it returned.

He was just about to turn down a block when he heard a feral growl. He froze. A Werewolf turned? No.

A demon. He had seen them every now and then, seeing that Shadowhunter guards always took care of them. But he was alone and this wasn't good. He turned to the demon, seeing its grimy brown leathery skin, split mouth drooling full of two rows of razor sharp teeth. Fear rose up in his chest as he looked around again.

Crap.

Starr looked over the horizon, she loved watching the sun set in the city. Before her parents died, they'd go on at least 2 vacations a year. She'd been to some small towns in Virginia; Las Vegas, Nevada; even to Anchorage, Alaska once. Big cities were always her favorite. She'd consider this living the dream had it not been for some damned vampires and demons. Today marked the anniversary of their death.

"Don't go too far this time Starr, I know you need some time alone, but make sure to stay in our territory," said Donovan before she left. She shrugged, she wasn't in her usual chipper mood.

She knew she could handle things out here. She was used to fighting and training before moving in with Donovan and Eden, her parents had a little time to teach her the basics. Much of the pack accepted her, they respected her ability. After a couple years, she wanted to pull her own weight and help out. She joined the guard. They found very quickly that her ability to think on her feet helped her in many demon battles. She may not have claws and sharp teeth, but she was deadly with a dagger.

She felt her holster on her right hip. She always kept a weapon on her these days.

*beep*....*beep*....

Starr shook off the thought as pulled the sensor out of her pocket. It was useful for finding/avoiding demons. Today she felt like at least checking out what the demon was doing. Maybe if it was causing trouble she'd take care of it.

Zimmerdale 10-01-2013 01:19 AM

The demon's red and black eyes stared Adrian down. The hair on the back of his neck stood up and he searched his pockets for something to defend himself, anything. But all he found was his cell phone, wallet, and key.

"Great," he murmured aloud. He looked around sighing and then looked back at the demon.

"Nephilim flesh...blood...food..." the demon growled in a low, insane voice. It was feral and possessive.

Adrian was still for a moment as the thing rocked back and forth on its large feet complete with razor sharp claws. Lovely. And then he was running. He heard the thing taking off after him, hearing its bare feet slapping against the pavement with every quick stride it took towards him.

His long dark hair blew in the wind as he turned his head to look back at just how close the demon was to him, which was closer than what he had been expecting. No cars were passing by anymore. Are you serious? Where was a Shadowhunter when you needed one Goddammit.

He quickly reached the sidewalk, grabbing a fallen limb from the tree squared in. It was thick and looked hard to break in half. And just in time he had turned around and used the limb as a shield, being knocked back so that he fell to his back, the demon's mouth surrounding the middle of the limb. The demon looked at him for a moment, registering what exactly it was biting, and snapped its jaw, the limb breaking in half. More fear sprung through him as he scurried backwards so that he could get back to his feet, he tossed on half of the limb away, swinging that other at the demon. He hit it in the head and for a moment, the demon looked shocked from the rather harsh blow. But it shook its head, drool falling to the pavement as he lunged at him again.

He screamed this time.

Libra 10-01-2013 01:52 AM

Starr was walking down the open street looking at the sensor, until she heard 2 individuals running towards her. She quickly stepped into an alley and watched as a guy was running from a demon. *beep*.*beep**bee*bee*beeeeeeeeeeeeeep.* Silencing the sensor, she put it back in her pocket, and texted Donovan: About to fight a demon. I might be home a little late.

First thing she took in were her surroundings. There were no cars on the street, the guy appeared not to have a weapon, and yet looked like he knew exactly what was chasing him. He couldn't be human if that was the case. And something about him looked so familiar.

She watched him try to defend himself with a tree limb. She cringed. She looked around frantically for a weapon he could use to defend himself. In the trashcan was a dull red wrench. Starr shrugged, "Better than nothing," she mumbled.

Starr ran around the alleyways till she was behind the monster. It's tail was flinging side to side with glee. She had an idea, hopefully the guy would not happen to be where the wrench landed. With all her might she threw the wrench over the demon. Just as the demon watched the wrench fly over him and land, she took out her dagger and cut off its tail.

The demon screamed in agony, turned around, and looked at Starr.

"Come on!" She shouted, "You don't look like you're having nearly enough fun!" And she ran off back through the alleyway. With luck, the demon will be so enraged it'll follow her instead.

Zimmerdale 10-01-2013 02:27 AM

Adrian cringed, squinting his eyes shut as he readied for his life to end. But what he got instead was the sound of metal clanging to the pavement just beside his head. His eyes shot opened and he heard the demon screech in pain.

He watched the demon turn around quick enough to not really know what its hands were doing. Three claws cracked across Adrian's cheek, the pointed ends digging into his flesh and sending his head to the side with blood beginning to drip down his face slowly. He squinted in pain, feeling the cuts give off such a sting he had never felt before.

Ow.

He looked to his savior. Finally, a Shadowhunter had come to his aid. He watched the demon hurry after the girl. Adrian's eyes fell on the dagger. Would that be enough for the size of the demon? He froze after he rose to his elbows, as his eyes surveyed the girl.

Not girl. Woman.

She was beautiful, but after realizing he had seen her only once before, he was shocked. What was her kind doing on his kind's side of town. He got to his feet but staggered from the searing pain in his cheek.

Libra 10-01-2013 03:08 AM

Starr knew she couldn't kill the demon alone. Her dagger was to close ranged of a weapon. She had to trust in Donovan's over protective nature. At the same time, she had to get the demon closer to her pack's territory. Even with reinforcements most likely on the way, if they caught her this far into the southern district, she'd be in big trouble. Now that the demon was following her, no other downworlder would be stupid enough to get involved with this fight.

She didn't need to look back, the demon was easily heard crashing behind her. She hopped fences, knocked over trashcans, nothing slowed the creature down. It's screams of rage echoed in the alleyways. The demon extended its claws and raked the skin of her calf. Hot blood ran down her tights and boots. She stopped for the briefest second, but then turned left down another alleyway.

The sun was setting further, it was becoming difficult to see. She stopped 1 foot short of slamming into a brick wall. She turned around. The demon had slowed down as well.

"No where...To goo..." The demon snickered.

The demon inched closer, licking the air. It looked as if it was getting drunk already. "Haven't...had...Nephilim blood...in a...while..."

Starr stood her ground. Her peripheral vision was starting to darken. She didn't get this far in life from cowering in a corner. Even if this was her last fight, she was going to take the demon with her. She brought her dagger up to eye level, and bent her knees. She didn't know where the demon's heart was, but she might just get lucky with this last stand.

Zimmerdale 10-01-2013 03:16 AM

Adrian felt himself be drawn towards where the woman ran. He hurried after them, still staggering here and there, but managed to hike over some fences. And finally, he made it to where they stopped. He eyed the demon, its tail cut off with black blood oozing from it. He cringed. How disgusting.

He then had sight of the woman between the demon's legs. She was hurt, he saw. He looked around until he saw something sharp sticking out of a dumpster. He moved closer, grabbing it to find it a broken, rusting, copper pipe. The end was sharp and that was all he knew he needed.

As soundless as possible, he came behind the demon. He flung his arms back, holding tight to the copper, and flung it forth so that it pierced the skin of the demon, and din't stop until he knew it came out the other side. He grunted as he did so, watching the demon stagger a little from impact, crying out in pain.

Now he was out of ideas. He hoped the woman had one. But it was only then that his vision began to darken. Was he poisoned? Was it from loss of blood? He panicked. What if he was dying. What if the demon's claws were poisoned?

Libra 10-01-2013 04:45 PM

The demon looked a bit surprised, and just as she saw a glint of copper coming out of its chest, she sprung on the beast. She ripped her dagger through the demon's throat. She could feel that it didn't sever the demon's head, but this will do plenty damage. She instinctively moved to the side with her dagger, but demon ichor still soiled the side of her body. Clutching it's neck; the demon fell to its knees. It exploded into a whirlwind of black dust, and disappeared.

Starr went to a brick wall and leaned against it, panting. She looked over at the guy. He looked a little shocked. Her vision had darkened more, she wasn't sure how much longer she was going to be conscious before the venom took full effect.

She heard a howl off in the distance, and just before she blacked out, her phone buzzed, saying: "Sent Zane to get you" And with that, Starr slid down the brickwall into a seated position.

Just then, Zane jumped down from the rooftops next to Starr. Upon inspecting her, and notices the gashes on the backs of her legs. Demon venom, I better get her to an infirmary. He picks Starr up and turns towards Adrian.

"I saw some of the fight, thank you for helping my sister. I also see that you have some cuts on your face. You might be fine, there isn't nearly as much demon venom in your body as you might think. If you'd like, we have an infirmary down the street, they can treat the demon venom coursing through your veins." After a single nod, he got up and started walking towards the alley's exit.

Zimmerdale 10-01-2013 10:25 PM

Standing firmly in place, Adrian watched the man with wide eyes. He didn't look like a Shadowhunter. He watched as he picked the woman up. But at the mention of the venom, his face stung more and he felt his head begin to swirl. He could last at least a little bit to get to this 'infirmiry'. He should have taken out his phone to text his family, but he honestly hadn't thought about it.

"That...that sounds like a good plan," Adrian murmured as he followed after the man. He was silent for a moment until he decided to introduce himself. "My name's Adrian. That thing came out of nowhere and attacked me. I'd probably be dead if it weren't for her," Adrian explained with some gratitude as he pointed to the unconscious girl.

The night air was getting somewhat cold as he zipped up his jacket and buried his hands in his pockets, focusing on walking correctly so that his dizziness wouldn't overcome his ability to not fall on his ass. His chest began to hurt, but he somehow guessed it was because of the venom.

"I owe her my life," he suddenly decided. It was probably too bold of him, or whatever, to say that, but it came out.

Libra 10-01-2013 10:51 PM

Zane listened to Adrian's conversation, but thought the less he knew the better.

Zane brought Starr and Adrian to a Laundromat 3 blocks down the street. The walls were white, and washing machines lined the right and left walls. Plain white folding tables lined the center, and on the back wall was a guy sitting at a table, looking at a newspaper. When Zane got to the table, he said "Let him pass."

The man let his newspaper fold back and looked at Zane with a cocked eye-brow. "You sure that's a good idea, man?"

Zane shrugged and kept on walking. He walked past one white room that had a few cabinets inside, a small mattress with an iron frame, and chair. An identical room lay beyond it, that was the room where he set Starr on the bed.

Before Adrian could walk very far down the hallway, Zane pointed to the first room, "Wait in here for Natasha, she'll give you the anti-venom." Afterwards Zane walked down the hallway to talk to the doctor.

Zimmerdale 10-01-2013 11:33 PM

Adrian looked around the place. He sure hadn't been in anything like it before, which was what made him wonder above the stinging pain and dizziness. He was about to walk after the stranger when he was stopped by his voice. He turned to the room the man had pointed and huffed a sigh.

He turned the knob and walked in, taking notice of his surroundings. The place smelled of alcohol and ammonia. He sat down on the bed in the corner. It reminded him of a hospital room, but he hadn't been in one in years, and this sure wasn't Mundane. He eyed a sink with a mirror. He walked over to it and went still at the sight of his reflection. He was pale, the scratch marks oozing a blackened blood, he was sweaty beyond what he had felt, and there were stressful bags beneath his eyes.

Oh god... He turned on the faucet, not waiting for this Natasha woman, and splashed cold water on his face. It might have taken away some sweat and blood, but it made his sting feel worse, as expected. He grabbed some paper towels and dabbed hsi face before he turned around to head back to the bed.

Libra 10-02-2013 12:12 AM

Starr finally opened her eyes to see a stark white room. She sat up and noticed an infusion drip connected to her arm. She was used to getting an injection, but she didn't think it was bad enough to need this much anti-venom.

"It's fluids, apparently you were dehydrated." Starr turned to Zane sitting in the corner with his legs propped up on her bed. She sighed, Zane was always near her after waking up following a demon fight. "I have a feeling you weren't fighting that demon because it was coming after you."

Starr blinked and frowned. "Well, you see, actually! I was walking down the street, and the demon was just sitting there, trying to eat someone, and I tripped over its tail! It got mad, and started chasing me, so I had to fight it to get away!" She almost believed the story.

Zane stared at her for a minute, "Tripped. Right, and somehow its tail came off, luckily you had enough time to text Dad. Starr, you're not a shadowhunter. You don't have all the equipment to effectively fight demons. We gave you that sensor to help avoid them, not track them down and kill them."

Starr looked down and started picking at her nails, "I was supposed to be a shadowhunter."

"I'm not saying you can't be, but you shouldn't try to be one without the proper equipment and training. Go to the Columbus shadowhunter sanctuary, join them if you want. We're not stopping you."

"I know. You're not holding me back. But it's just full of people who secretly hate downworlders, who have to follow rule upon rule or suffer medieval punishment..." Starr trailed off. She didn't like where this conversation was going. Every day she wondered if she should just go to the Columbus shadowhunters and tell them what happened. She doesn't know how they would react to her telling them she chose to live with werewolves rather than her own kind.

Starr threw the covers off of her, and stood up. "Who's the doctor today?"

"Natasha" Zane responded.

Starr was already rolling her IV pole out the door, "Well I'm gonna go get a glass of water, and ask her to disconnect me from this twisted mess."

Zimmerdale 10-02-2013 02:54 AM

Just before Adrian sat down, a woman had entered the room. Dressed in a simple white doctor's coat, the woman was definitely not what Adrian was expecting. She was young with long, curled amber hair, dangerous brown eyes, and was looking at Adrian with a look that showed she knew well he shouldn't be here.

"Seems to me as if you're on the wrong side of town," she murmured as she went over to a cabinet, opened it up, and began taking out supplies.

"Kinda had no choice. I don't know any healers on my side," Adrian murmured in all honesty, watching the woman walk over to him and stick a needle into his arm without asking. He flinched a little, but he wasn't unaccustomed to pain anymore.

His blood spilled into the vial connected to the needle. Natasha took it out and observed the blood under the nearest light.

"You're lucky you weren't injected with anymore poison or you'd be dead by now," Natasha said as she walked back over to Adrian. She pulled out a odd-looking needle from her coat pocket and jabbed it into he side of his neck. Adrian grunted from the sudden pain in his cheek.

Within the minute, all pain had vanished, save for some stinging left in his cheek.

"I'm going to have to stitch you up, but within a few days, you should be healed and the stitches will dissolve," Natasha said as she opened a container she had pulled out from the cabinet. A needle and thread.

Libra 10-02-2013 03:59 AM

Starr walked down the to the lounge and noticed Natasha wasn't around. She grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and headed back to Room 2. She saw the door open for Room 1, but knew she wouldn't very stealthy with the pole she was wheeling around. Instead went back to her room and sat down on the bed again. Natasha was definitely in the room with that guy, she could hear them talking. Just as she was thinking about asking Zane if he could hear any of the conversation, he got up to leave. "I'm going to grab us something to eat. Any suggestions?"

Right on queue Starr's stomach made a very audible cry for food. She gave a nervous chuckle, "Chinese?"

Zane nodded, and left without another word. She looked at her phone, it didn't look like she had any new texts. Just as she looked up Natasha had already passed by and was walking towards the lounge.

"Natasha?" The doctor walked back to her room and cocked her eyebrow at Starr. All she had to do was laugh nervously and point at the IV, and Natasha understood exactly what she meant.

Natasha rolled her eyes. "I guess I'll disconnect it. But you have to promise to drink extra water. And get some rest!"

Natasha and Starr went through the motions of removing the IV from her arm, and putting the rest of the bag in the trash. "Thank you," Starr said after she finished. Natasha gave her a slight nod and left the room again.

Zimmerdale 10-03-2013 07:25 AM

It felt odd for Adrian to feel a hundred percent himself again. He looked at where the IV had been and sighed, looking around. Natasha had left, seeming to disregard Adrian faster than he had been expecting. He got to his feet, put his jacket back on, and walked out of the room. He looked around, trying to remember where he had come in. He had been so disoriented then.

He stopped before what looked to be a lounge. And then he saw the woman from before. Immediately, he grabbed her wrist so she'd give her attention. He wanted to thank her before he left to return home to his probably-worrying guardians.

"Hey, I wanted to say thank you," Adrian told her as he let go and took a step back to really look at her. She was beautiful, he immediately noticed, but hew quickly pushed that thought away at the knowledge that she was from the other side of town, not his side. They were supposed to be enemies.

But then again, she had saved his life.

And she was like him, if his guardians were actually telling the truth. Only problem was, he never really learned what was so different between Mundane and Nephilim. And he felt stupid for that.

Libra 10-03-2013 03:12 PM

Starr had just changed into a fresh pair of clothes. She had thrown her brown button-up and khaki's in the trash. She had never tried washing clothes soiled with ichor, but if the Laundromat wouldn't allow it, there must be a good reason. She had a spare set of clothes here anyway. Dark jeans, and a black sweater shirt overtop a black tank top. She also decided that boots would do better outside in this chilly weather than her dainty sandals. It was amazing the sandals lasted the night, but thought better of her luck by placing it in the overnight bag. Before she turned around someone grabbed her wrist. As she turned to look, it was the guy from before.

He gave his thanks, and looked at her.

She grabbed her left elbow, while keeping her left arm straight against her body. "No problem stranger." She said smiling. "My pack might not quite agree with my actions, but I think we made a pretty good team out there." She looked to the side, laughing nervously. Her pack was probably going to give her house arrest for at least a week.

She got to finally take a good look at him. His eyes looked like a dark pane of glass, reflecting yourself rather than letting you see inside. And his hair was like an extra shield framing his face. He was taller than her, she could see his muscular physique through his clothes. She could not deny that he was handsome.

Zimmerdale 10-04-2013 03:05 AM

Adrian smiled and nodded his head. Yeah, he realized, they really did make a good team. He liked the sound of that. Now that they were closer to each other and not in any rushed danger, he got to get a good look at her. She was really beautiful, but he had never seen such beauty in a female Nephilim before. It was amazing. He looked away before she would realized he had ever been staring to begin with.

"So you're a Shadowhunter, right? I actually have some questions." He decided to get right to it. If it was one thing he learned about Shadowhunters, is that you could trust them. "I've recently found out that I was a Shadowhunter. Or, at least I was told. I want to train." It was a big step for him to say such a thing, but he decided this after thinking over the fact that they did make a good team. He wanted to be ready for the next time a demon was after him. He could have been dead because of that.

"Who's your trainer? Are there others? in town?" He hadn't really seen others like here in town before, but he had seen them in other places when he used to move from place to place. It was a question that had been bugging him. If there were others, he wanted to know why he hadn't seen them here. But there was her.

Libra 10-04-2013 03:40 AM

"I actually am not a Shadowhunter." She moved her hands onto the back of her head and turned to back against a wall. "I'm a Nephilim, but right now it's not my job and sole purpose to defeat demons and whatever other secret agenda the Clave has going on right now. The only formal training I had was from my parents. After they died 8 years ago, I came to live with my father's best friend's family...Which, if you couldn't tell are all werewolves."

Starr took a breath, and continued on, "There is a Columbus Institute, though I'm not sure exactly where it is. I don't think young Shadowhunters live there, so the older crowd doesn't usually hang out where you or I would rather be, nor they hang out at my pack's shops or clubs."

"So... You didn't know you were a Nephilim?"

Zimmerdale 10-04-2013 05:59 AM

Adrian shook his head, a little disappointed that the girl wasn't a Shadowhunter. "Not until tonight. My parents died when I was young. Their friends, also Werewolves, took me in and have raised me. I don't know anything about what's different with Shadowhunters or whatever. And what's the Clave?" he asked, confusion in his eyes. There really was so little he knew about any of this.

"I need to find this Institute. Maybe my parents will know about it," he murmured more to himself than her. He tilted his head to the side. "The name's Adrian." He put out his hand to shake, searching for a friendly greeting.

He knew that Nephilim where half angels. But he didn't know what special powers they possessed. He wanted so many answers and they nagged at him to the point that he literally felt so restless. Somehow, he had a feeling that this woman and him would be getting along sometime in the near future, not that they were getting along now. Just that...he wanted to know more about her, spend more time with her. He didn't want to leave for home yet...

Home!

His guardians were going to be pissed. There was no doubt he'd be spending all of his waking hours when he got home listening to his guardians try and lecture him again about responsibility and the importance of steering clear of your enemies.

Libra 10-08-2013 04:44 PM

Starr took Adrian's hand and shook it. "My name is Starr, it's nice to meet you!" She was smiling at that point, but quickly turned into a frown when her stomach made a loud audible growl. At that point she took her hand back and scratched the back of her head and laughed nervously. "Sorry, I'm just a little hungry. Zane left to go get some to grab some Chinese. Did you want to stick around and have some?"

Zimmerdale 10-09-2013 05:25 AM

Adrian's stomach grumbled at the mention of food. He had left the apartment before dinner...which he basically skipped out on. And his guardians were probably worried sick, or worse-- angry. He chewed the inside of his cheek, mulling over. He wanted to spend some time with his kind, for once, not worry about how angry you'd make one to the point they'd turn into something that snaps at you with sharp fangs.

Screw the guardians. They'll wait.

"Food sounds amazing right now, actually," he said with a small smile. "I don't think I've ever had Chinese before, actually," he soon added with a cringe of his face, feeling terrible for missing out on something so many different people loved. His stomach grumbled again and he put his hand to it, chuckling softly.

Libra 10-10-2013 05:28 AM

Starr slapped Adrian playfully on the arm. "Get out of here! You've never had Chinese before?" Just then Zane walked through the door with two bags full of Chinese food. Starr ran back to kitchenette and grabbed lots of paper plates, plastic utensils, and napkins. Starr hadn't seen Roxanne in a while, but she did occasionally step out for a smoke. Besides, this late at night Roxanne wouldn't eat anyway.

She put out the folded chairs (four just in case Roxanne came around), and arranged the food all in the middle of the table: egg drop soup, wonton soup, General Tso's chicken, sesame chicken, sweet and sour pork, crab rangoon, fried wontons, lo mein, fried rice, white rice, eggrolls, and some fortune cookies to finish it off.

"Thanks for getting all this food Zane! I feel like I could eat most of this by myself!" Starr had just finished assembling her plate: General Tso's chicken, white rice, and an eggroll. She also grabbed a contain of wonton soup as well. "I'm sorry to hear about your parents, my parents died when I was young too." Even though Starr was planning on watching him take his first bite of food, she couldn't bring herself to look up without showing the wateriness of her eyes. Instead she moved her wontons around inside of the bowl.

Zane sat silently at the table, watching both Starr and Adrian

Zimmerdale 10-10-2013 07:10 AM

Adrian cracked a big smile when she playfully slapped his arm. He shrugged sheepishly. He wasn't so used to talking to girls, and it was beginning to show. "Yeah..."

Adrian watched Starr in action, grabbing all that was needed for the food. When everyone had their portions of their food, Adrian cautiously looked into each box, taking a little bit of each just to try out. He grabbed his fork and tried the rice, shrugging as he looked up at Starr.

"I guess I can just say that I'm lucky I never really knew them well enough to miss them enough," he said, his voice cracking a little at the painful memory of the loss of his parents. He may have not have known them that well, but he will never forget how lonely and scared he felt after their death. "I'm thankful for my guardians for taking me in. But I don't think I can forgive them for not telling me I'm a Shadowhunter until tonight," he grumbled a little angrily. He took a bite of the egg roll, his eyebrows rising with surprise. Holy hell, where has this food been all my life?

He turned to Zane, giving him a stiff, but true small smile. "Thanks for the food, really," he said as he went back to his food. He took a bite of the sesame chicken, deciding to put a bigger spoonful on his plate. He tried the crab rangoon and wished he had the rest of the bags to himself. "I was supposed to be home for dinner with my folks, but I honestly feel I can't really face them yet. Next thing I know, they'll be lecturing me on how I should do what I feel is right but they want what's best for me, which will just turn into, 'This is what we're going to make you do.'"
