"Seriously," Clint agreed. He settled back in his chair, closing his eyes.
Alexis managed to catch a nap on the way back, and when the quinjet landed she was happy to get off. Catching another nap was a bad idea, since it was just after breakfast time in New York, and she had work to do.
"You heading back to the tower?" she asked Clint. |
"If I can get away with it," Clint said. He made a face. "If I can skip out on the debrief."
"You're escorting me back to medical," Alexis said with a faint smile. "My default doctor is listed as Dr. Banner, and this is not a life-threatening situation, so I can see my default doctor."
Clint grinned.
"I like the way you think," he said. |
"One advantage of being a handler, you learn to kind of cheat things," Alexis agreed with a grin. "Although I do want Bruce to take a look. Just in case."
"He'll probably want to take a look," Clint said, nodding. "He's pretty good at bullying people into letting him take care of them."
"I just want to make sure I don't need to take any actual time off," Alexis grumbled. "Hey, he should be happy though, he won't have to bully me like he does you."
"I'm sure he'll be pleased," Clint replied. He gathered his gear and got off the plane. "Let's go, then."
Alexis walked with him over to the car they were taking back to the tower. This time she let Clint drive.
Clint nearly cackled when she gave him the keys, and he just barely waited for her to be strapped in before he turned on the car and took off.
Alexis gave him a bit of a Look.
"Okay, come on, no one gave you Mountain Dew, no need to be a crazy monkey today." |
Clint snickered.
"Nope, but you did hand me car keys," he pointed out. He did slow down a little, though. |
"Car keys do not equal sugar and caffeine," Alexis grumbled. "I'll give you those two things when I want you to annoy Tony for me."
"Oh I know," Clint replied. "Tony knows it, too."
Alexis grinned. She didn't feel bad about that at all. "Good." She settled back in her seat, pleased.
Before long, Clint was pulling the car into the ground level garage at the tower.
"Home sweet home," he said. |
"Oh joy." Alexis got out and headed with him to the elevator. "Jarvis, let Bruce know we're back and I'd like him to take a look at my shoulder, please."
"Of course. Welcome back," Jarvis replied calmly. |
"And I am going to go relax for a while," Clint said stretching and heading towards his room. He needed a hot shower.
Alexis got Bruce to check her shoulder before she went and took her own shower. She'd work on paperwork later. She flopped on the couch in the living room with a little groan.

Elsewhere, Autumn was having some trouble of the mutant variety. For some reason, Magneto had decided to show up in person and was causing all sorts of trouble.
Pietro and Wanda were just trying to stay out of the way, which was really the best idea where their father was concerned.
Autumn barely spared a thought to the fact that they were staying out of the way. She knew who Magneto was to them, and it was their choice whether to engage or not. She, however, was standing next to Xavier, acting as both bodyguard and support.
"Why are you here?" she asked Magneto, watching him carefully. |
"I just want to talk to my children," Magneto said. "That's all. This time." He was standing normally on the floor for once.
"I think they would prefer not to, right now," Autumn said carefully, watching him. She had entirely too much metal on her person not to be wary.
