"Keep them handy in case we need some extra oomph." Alexis managed to get inside. "I'm in the first helicarrier, we got anyone on the middle one?"
"I'm in the second helicarrier," Natasha said over the comms.
"Careful, Lex, you've got a squad coming towards you and they don't look friendly," Autumn warned, watching the area as the bay doors fully opened. |
"Of course not," Alexis muttered. "That would make things too easy." She looked at the panels near the first engine and just ripped all the wiring out. "One engine potentially down."
"I'm on it," Clint said, already taking aim at the enemy squad.
In the second helicarrier, Natasha had already taken out three panels and was working on a fourth. Thankfully, Stark was consistent in his hardware habits. |
"Barton, you're supposed to be helping take down the engines," Alexis said, shooting him a Look when she spotted him. She took out a few of the agents on her own before she took off for another engine, removing people as necessary.
"Excuse me for helping keep you alive," Clint retorted, shooting another set of enemies. "Unless you'd rather be perforated."
"I beg your pardon, I would not be perforated," Alexis said, shooting three agents out of the way. "I have it under control. Natasha, status?"
"Helicarrier two is disabled," Natasha replied, making her way to the third one. "That wasn't so hard, Stark must be losing his edge."
"Let me know when you're done with the third," Alexis said.
"We've got two engines down on the third helicarrier," one of the other agents reported in. Alexis grimaced; she was behind. |
"Copy that, keep working," Natasha replied to the agents. She headed to the first helicarrier to help Alexis.
Alexis got another one done before she got backed into a corner by a squad and had to fight her way out.
"I'm in a corner, might take me a bit to get to the next engine," she said, her eyes narrowing as she shot two more. Her comm crackled a bit when she got hit by a stun baton, again. She really hated those things. Up until she shot the man responsible in the kneecap. |
"I'm working on the engines," Natasha said over the comm. If Alexis was cornered, it would take her too long to disable the engine, and Natasha was already there, anyways.
"Should be one left by now," Alexis muttered. "Barton, once all our people are off, I want you to hit at least one engine on each helicarrier. Just in case."
"Copy that," Clint said, getting into position. "Just waiting on a clear shot."
"We're all clear," the other team reported in.
"Good. I'm meeting up with Widow in a minute." Alexis made her way down the last hall in time to see Natasha disable the last engine. And then she headed up top again to get off and out of the way. |
As soon as Clint had a clear shot, he took it. He fired three arrows in rapid succession, Not even pausing between them. The engines all exploded one after another.
"Got them," he said into the comms. |
"Excellent." Alexis rolled away from gunfire with Natasha, glowering a bit. "We'll be back up there in a minute or two."
"Take the back way," Autumn advised, keeping an eye on things. "The main routes are a little... clogged."
"Wouldn't run into anyone if they'd let me lead them through the vents," Clint suggested as he slung his bow over his shoulder and climbed back to the roof. |
"Sorry, Barton, I have no particular desire to stare at your ass," Alexis quipped. Next to her she heard Natasha laughing quietly before Natasha grabbed her wrist and pulled her through an opening.
"That's a filthy lie, everyone wants to stare at my ass," Clint cheerfully replied as he got back into position on the roof. "It's totally worth staring at."
"Not in purple," Alexis said with a grin. "At least it's not covered in something garishly bright, though." She and Natasha made their way up to ground level. "Rendezvous back in the office."
"Copy that," Clint replied. He and Autumn made their way back to Fury's office to meet up with everyone else.
Alexis got up there and took a quick look around to make sure everyone was fine.
"I don't think we should stay here, sir," she said to Fury. "With the helicarriers down, they're going to send teams after us." |
"I'm well aware of that, Agent," Fury said. "I already have a plan in place." Because what was the use of having his best agent still on the field if there wasn't plan?
Alexis nodded and moved over to wait by Autumn instead. Hopefully Tony was either on his way down to DC to provide some backup or he was working on routing out the problem.
