It barely took another five minutes for a voice to come over the private line in the office.
"This is SHIELD 616 Globemaster. En route to the specified co-ordinates, Director. ETA thirty minutes." "Good to hear, Agent May," Fury said. "We'll meet you there." He glanced at the agents in the room. "That would be our exit strategy." |
Alexis grinned. Coulson to the rescue, yay. She waited for Fury to give the order for them to leave, and she stayed with Autumn as they headed down to liberate a few cars.
Fury did indeed give the order, and the group made their way down to get the hell out of dodge. Once they were out of the Triskelion and in a relatively safe location, they could plan their next move.
"Sir," Alexis said after a little bit of being in a car with him, Autumn, Natasha, and Clint. "We have teams to update as well. Even though half of mine is already here."
"It can wait until we have a secure location," Fury replied. He was sure Stark was keeping Rodgers updated, anyways.
Alexis nodded and settled in to wait. Natasha was watching her and Clint with a knowing little smile, but she didn't say anything. Yet.
Autumn is also able to see what was between the two, although she also stays quiet about it. No sense in pointing it out before the two in question realize things, after all.
Natasha kept herself highly amused with the two through the rest of the trip, though she did text Clint.
How is it you always end up flirting when you're supposed to be working? |
Because I'm awesome. Clint gave her a shit-eating grin.
That's not exactly the word I'd use for it. Natasha shot him a somewhat indulgent, amused look. The fact that Clint hadn't even denied flirting was interesting.
Autumn noticed the exchange between them and raised an eyebrow a bit at Natasha. She was curious what she missed.
Natasha smirked and sent her a quick text. They're flirting. Clint didn't deny it.
Good to know. Autumn would definitely file that information away for later. Never know when it would come in handy.
Indeed. Now it's just a question of which of them will bring it up first. Natasha went back to watching them, trying to decide. Because they were both stubborn.
Very good question. Autumn studied them as well. It really did seem like a tossup between who would admit to it first. Both seemed about equally likely.
I'll bet Clint. He won't be able to resist after a while. He'll be too curious for his own good. Natasha smirked.
I'm not putting money on that, you have an unfair advantage when it comes to him. Autumn raised an eyebrow, as if to say 'tell me I'm wrong.'
Natasha just smirked and set her phone aside. For now.
It was barely a few minutes later that the vans stopped. They were pretty much in the middle of nowhere, in an overgrown field with a single abandoned barn.
"Alright, everyone out," Fury ordered. |
Alexis got out after Natasha and helped Autumn down, glancing around. But she didn't question the lack of visible buildings. That rarely meant much where SHIELD was involved.
"Sir?" Clint asked. "Where are we?"
"I would think you'd know an extraction zone when you see one, Barton," Fury replied, raising an eyebrow. |
"He's gotten used to quinjets and Stark pick-ups," Alexis teased with a brief grin.
And they were at it again. Natasha rolled her eyes, sharing a look with Autumn. |
"So sue me, I have a thing for gorgeous jets and comfort," Clint retorted, grinning back.
Not even five minutes, Autumn was kind of impressed. They were definitely flirting hard with each other. |
"Yes, I know, I've seen your pillow nest, and don't even try to deny it, that is totally yours." Alexis smirked.
That actually made Natasha pause. Yes, she knew he had a pillow nest, but it was kind of out of the way in a quiet room up near the top of the tower so he could keep watch. |
Clint blinked.
"How do you know about that?" he asked. Autumn paused. Pillow nest? she mouthed at Natasha. |
