Paige looked at the menu for a moment before grinning.
"I see a chicken caprese sandwich, I'm sold," she said. |
Raven nodded. "Excellent. And you?" She looked at Crystal.
"Barbeque chicken sandwich." Crystal smiled a bit when Raven chuckled and nodded. "And I think milkshakes today, that sounds good." |
"Good plan," Paige said, grinning. Her fingers absently traced the carving on the outer edge of the table, learning the textures and lines.
|
Raven was quite happy to settle in to have lunch with the two; she really did like them. Now hopefully they'd stay for a while, because Charles would be pouty for months if they left now.
|
Paige enjoyed the lunch, really. It was relaxing in a different sort of way than the mansion was.
|
Once they finished with lunch, Raven paid (ignoring their protests) and then looked at them.
"So, do you want to come with me to pick out a few things for the baby?" |
That made Paige hesitate a bit, and she glanced at Crystal before looking back at Raven.
"Would that be okay?" she asked cautiously. "I don't want to step on any toes or anything..." |
"Not at all," Raven said with a grin. "In fact, I'm sure Charles would be absolutely delighted if you two brought something back for the baby."
Crystal felt herself giving in at that and she nodded a bit. |
Paige nodded a bit as well.
"Alright," she said. "We'll follow you." |
Raven grinned at her victory and nodded, leading the girls over to a baby store and starting to browse. She picked up a few onesies and a blanket, which she passed over to Crystal to hold.
|
Paige blinked when she came across a little ducking-yellow onesie with an adorable, smiling embroidered magnet on the front. She couldn't stop herself from snickering when she picked it up.
|
Raven wandered over to see what she had and very nearly doubled over laughing.
"Done, we're getting that." |
Paige blinked.
"Wait, what?" she asked. "Nobody will get offended or anything?" She knew sometimes people could be touchy, even about their own mutations. |
"Charles will love it and Erik will probably scowl and be secretly amused. Really, his bark is worse than his bite, most of the time." Raven grinned. "Although if you want I can give it to them, but Erik wouldn't do anything to you if you gave it to them."
|
"I suppose if you're sure that Erik won't try to pin us to the ceiling with steak knives..." Paige said. She handed the onesie to Raven.
|
"I'm sure," Raven said with a grin. "Come on, let's find a few more things, and then we can call it a day."
|
Paige nodded and went to see what Crystal had found.
|
So far, Crystal was still holding onto the blanket, though she'd also picked up a set of a cap, a bib, mittens and socks that were all yellow, to match some of the other clothes. She looked at Paige and shrugged a bit.
|
Paige managed to fine one more onesie (this one light blue with yellow trim and saying 'Baby Einstien' on it) before she just started following Raven around. She'd made her contributions for the moment.
|
Once they had a few things, Raven took them up front to pay and get everything settled as to who was giving them what. She couldn't help but tease Crystal a bit about getting another blanket for herself, though. Crystal turned a bit pink.
|
Paige just rolled her eyes.
"Do we have everything?" she asked, steering the conversation back around. |
"Yeah, I think so," Raven said. "Hand it over, I'll pay for it and you two can pick out bag and stuff later."
|
Paige did so, albeit with slight hesitation.
"You didn't have to do this, you know," she said. |
"Oh, I know," Raven said. "But I want to." She shrugged and paid for everything. "Besides, this is my niece or nephew that I'm already working on spoiling." She grinned.
|
"Possibly in revenge for Charles spoiling Kurt?" Paige asked, grinning a bit.
