Paige disappeared into a guest room and tried to get some sleep. It worked, for a few hours, but she woke up again around three in the morning and wasn't able to get back to sleep. So, instead of getting frustrated with her lack of sleep, she got up and went to explore a little bit.
Obligingly, smaller pathway lights lit up as she walked, giving her enough light to see by without waking anyone else up.
That made her pause for a moment.
"Okay, that's cool," she admitted quietly. |
Jarvis didn't reply for the moment, since he figured that would be a bit much at the moment. But he did keep the area lit for her so she could wander as she pleased.
And then Crystal texted her. Baby boy. |
Paige jumped a little at the text, but grinned when she saw it.
Wonderful. Name yet? |
Not yet, waiting on Erik to get home first. Which was fine with Crystal, she was absolutely exhausted. All good with you lot?
Everything's fine. Kids are all in bed. Paige kept wandering as she texted.
Good. I think I'm going to go sleep, Charles is already. It's safe to come back in the morning, no sense waking everyone now.
Alright. Get some sleep. With that, Paige slipped her phone back into her pocket and kept looking around. She paused when she came across the windows of Tony's workshop.
Tony was working on upgrading some gadget or another, totally engrossed in his work without even a vague idea of what time it was.
Paige stood at the glass and watched for a while. It was actually kind of interesting to see, and she didn't want to interrupt.
Tony didn't notice her, just working for a while. Then he finally leaned back, running a greasy hand through his hair as he glared at the gadget.
After a few moments, Paige tapped on the glass gently with her nails to get his attention. She held up her phone to indicate she had news.
Tony blinked and waved a hand, simultaneously cutting the music and letting her in.
"What's going on?" |
"Couldn't sleep," Paige said. "Got word from Crystal." She grinned. "It's a boy."
"Oh, great." Tony grinned. "Named or not yet?" He swiveled around to look at her.
"Not yet," Paige said. "Waiting for Erik to arrive back home first."
"I thought Charles might opt for that." Tony shrugged and stretched a bit. "Well, at least that part is done now."
"Yeah," Paige said. "So we'll take the kids and be out of your hair in the morning."
"No rush, it'll only be a little more chaotic than normal." Tony shrugged. "I don't mind the kids staying for short periods of time. Two days max. After that they get bored with Barton and start trying to invade down here, which is not kosher."
"Yeah, no offense, but this place doesn't exactly look child-safe," Paige said, glancing around.
"As Jarvis has said multiple times, it's not even safe for me, and I almost live down here." Tony shrugged.
Paige grinned a bit.
"What are you working on, anyways?" she asked. "It's after three in the morning." |
"Upgrading Widow's bracelets. It's the only time I can work on it and still have it be a surprise." Tony huffed. "She likes to wander in to see what I'm doing and usually kick my ass in the process."
Paige couldn't help but snicker a bit at that.
"Well, don't let me interrupt," she said. |
