"There are a few," Ezio admitted. "Not as many as I would have hoped, but a few." He grinned a bit. "You can understand my surprise when a few showed up in the city, then."
"Indeed." Leo grinned. "So, are they already full colleagues, or do they also require some of your time training them?" Because of course he knew what was going on.
"No, they arrived fully trained," Ezio replied. "Indeed, they offered to help with the training of some new recruits."
"That would be a very pleasant surprise if they can help," Leo said with a little smile. "Very helpful. You're not resting enough."
"I'm doing fine, Leo," Ezio protested. "You worry too much."
"And you don't worry enough," Leo replied promptly. "Even apart from throwing yourself off buildings."
"I manage fine," Ezio replied. "The jumps are safe enough."
Leonardo shook his head a bit, amused and exasperated by him.
"Are you at least taking care of your guests?" |
"Of course," Ezio said. "You doubt I would?"
"Not intentionally," Leo said with a bit of a grin. "However, I know you. You forget or get absorbed in your work. Much like I do."
Ezio made a face, but didn't deny it. Leo was right, on that one.
"Regardless, they're fine," he said. |
Leo nodded. "Will I be meeting any of them?" Because he was curious, naturally.
"More than likely," Ezio said. "They followed me here, so they're more than likely watching from the window." He smirked a bit and looked up towards the high window.
Leo laughed a bit and followed his gaze. Harper just grinned cheekily down at them, not even bothering to hide.
Shea just grinned as well, although she was slightly embarrassed that they had been caught. They hadn't been trying all that hard, though, so she wasn't too ashamed.
"As I said, they followed me," Ezio said. |
"Now that doesn't surprise me," Leo said with a chuckle, shaking his head. "You haven't told them much, have you?"
"Only what they needed to know," Ezio admitted. "Training, recruits, information on the Templars."
Leo shook his head a bit. "One would think that if you were ever to make other friends, they'd be the ones you'd manage with," he said mildly.
"Friends can be a liability, Leo," Ezio said. "You happen to be a special case. Knowing you is more than worth the risk."
"And yet you're pushing aside the people who could likely defend themselves better than perhaps anyone else in the city besides you?" Leo raised his eyebrows.
"I'm not pushing them away," Ezio protested.
Leo just shook his head. There was only so much even he could do in one day.
"Well, then, if you're not pushing them away, go invite them in so I can meet them." |
Ezio made a bit of a face at Leo, but headed outside so he could scale the building more quickly.
"You might as well come inside," he said when he found the three of them. |
Desmond nodded and dropped down easily to ground level, letting the two girls in first.
Harper grinned a bit and headed inside, looking around a bit. |
Ezio just walked inside again, going to sit in the chair next to Leo.
"Leo," he said, "my colleagues. Desmond, Harper, and Shea." Then he looked at the other three. "This is Leonardo." |
