Leo grinned.
"You're very knowledgeable yourself," he said. "It's rare someone is able to give me that kind of discussion." Shea followed him and settled next to him at the top of the belltower. Yes, the quiet was nicer. |
"I've studied some," Harper said with a little shrug like it was no big deal.
Desmond settled down a bit there, stretching out briefly in the sunlight. "So, really, how are you holding up so far?" |
"Outstanding," Leo said. "Even moreso for a woman!"
"I miss home," Shea said softly after a moment. "It's strange here." |
"My family was well enough off for me to have the opportunity," Harper said with a bit of a grin.
"I know." Desmond shrugged. "It is odd. It's not as bad for me, since I've been here before, but I'd forgotten some things. And we don't belong here, which makes it more difficult." |
Leo grinned back.
"Fantastic," he said. "Yeah," Shea said, nodding. She looked at Desmond. "So, are Ezio and Leonardo...?" She trailed off and made a 'together' gesture with her hands. |
Harper grinned back at him and looked over at Ezio. "So, you two seem close," she said, a little cautiously.
"I... think so?" Desmond shrugged. "They've always been close, but I'm not sure if they are actually together or not." |
"Who, Ezio and I?" Leo asked. He smiled. "We are. He is my dearest friend."
"You've been him before and you don't know?" Shea asked, a bit teasingly. "Some help that is." |
"I can tell. You two are very easy around each other." Harper smiled a bit. "It's nice to see."
Desmond laughed a bit. "Yea, but I still don't know everything, I stopped being him actually shortly before now." |
"Ezio has very few friends," Leo said. "So I do what I can."
"That's supremely not helpful right now," Shea said, grinning at him. She gave him a little playful shove. |
"I can't imagine that's easy," Harper said with a sympathetic little grin.
Desmond just laughed a bit and settled down up there, relaxing for the moment. "So, other than missing home, you're fine? Not feeling sick or anything? No sudden urges to jump off buildings the wrong way?" |
"Definitely not!" Leo laughed. "But worth every moment."
"If I were alone... maybe," Shea admitted quietly after a moment. "But no, I'm okay." |
Harper grinned. "Well, if you ever need a sympathetic ear, I can drop by any time," she offered.
"Good." Desmond stretched out again. "I think if it had been just me, I would have gone crazy. Even the first time, in the Animus, it was weird. I was him, but I was still me. I thought about stopping several times." |
Leo grinned.
"Whenever you like," he said, nodding. "You're stronger than I am, then," Shea said. "I don't think I would have been able to do it." |
Harper grinned, internally squealing a bit at the open invitation to Leonardo's workshop. Oh she was going to have a lot of fun now.
"I suppose I should probably get going, make sure Shea and Desmond haven't gone getting into trouble without me." Desmond shook his head a bit. "I think you could if you had to," he said. "You don't give yourself enough credit." |
"Are they prone to such things?" Leo asked curiously. Even Ezio looked curious.
"I don't do well in isolation," Shea said. "You probably handle it better than I do." |
"Sometimes, depends where we are and what's going on." Harper grinned a bit. "But they've been known to get into a spot of trouble before without me."
"Let's hope we don't have to test which one of us would last longer," Desmond said with a bit of a grin. |
Leo grinned.
"Sounds like someone I know," he said, glancing teasingly at Ezio. Ezio looked a bit affronted, but couldn't help but quirk a bit of a grin anyways. "Agreed," Shea said, nodding. |
Harper chuckled and headed for the door. "Well, I'll go check on them. I'll see you both sometime later."
Desmond looked over at her again. "You know, if you're feeling too off-kilter here at any point, just let me know. I can make your excuses for a few days if you feel like you need to take some time off." |
"Take care," Leo responded, going to settle back in to chat with Ezio for a little longer.
"I'll speak up," Shea promised. "I'm alright for now, though." |
"Good." Desmond grinned a bit. "Maybe training will help. Getting into more of a routine and not having quite so much free time."
|
Shea nodded.
"Yeah," she said. "It should be a good distraction." |
Desmond nodded. "Hopefully we'll start that soon," he said. Because he was looking forward to having a routine too.
|
Shea nodded and sighed a bit, unconsciously leaning against him a little. It was nice to have the solid, comforting presence there.
|
Desmond didn't move, just letting her rest there as he got comfortable himself. The contact was kind of nice, actually, although he didn't say so.
|
Shea realized quickly what she was doing, but didn't immediately stop. The contact was nice, and she didn't want to ruin it.
