Desmond found two smaller bedrooms and looked at Shea, and eyebrow raised.
"Let me know if you need anything, just pound on the wall or something," he said. |
"Will do," Shea said, nodding. "Try to get some rest yourself, alright?"
|
"I'll try." Desmond smiled a bit and slipped into his temporary room, settling down for the night.
But it was still weird as hell to wake up the next morning in his own body but still be in the wrong time period. |
Shea woke up around the same time Desmond did, out of habit. They'd worked together long enough that she was used to getting up at around the same time the other two did. For a moment, she was disoriented, and then she remembered what had happened and got up to start her stretching.
|
Desmond gave them both a bit of time before he went to go check on the girls. No coffee on this time period either. Damn.
Harper meandered over to Shea's room after she was done stretching, though she kept looking out the windows as she passed. "You good so far?" Desmond asked when he saw her. "Yeah, so far." Harper shrugged. |
"This place is kind of bizarre," Shea commented as she met them in the hallway. "No offense, Des, but I don't see how you were able to keep doing this."
|
"Well, part of it was that I wasn't, Ezio was," Desmond said with a shrug. "It's different, in the Animus. This is freaking even me out a bit."
|
"It was still you in there," Shea said, "right?" She shook her head. "Never mind, we just need to figure out what's going on here."
|
"Well, one I idea I had last night. Maybe the thing brought us here so help reestablish the order. I mean, Ezio is working on it, but there's only so much he can do himself. With the three of us, that would go a lot faster."
Harper paused. "That sounds like a long-term job." |
"That does sound long-term," Shea said cautiously. "I get the sentiment, four are better than one, but training takes a long time."
|
"Well, unless either of you two has a better idea...?" Desmond raised his eyebrows. "There's a reason we were brought to here and now, and the Pieces of Eden are notoriously fickle. We currently have no other way to get home. So we may as well take advantage of the fact that Ezio at least is friendly and willing to help us."
|
Shea was quiet for a moment.
"If you think this is what we should do," she said, "then I'll go with it. There are worse things that could have happened, right?" |
"Right." Desmond smiled a bit. "We'll all need clothes, though. I can use some of Ezio's for today but I'm going to need measurements and stuff for you two." He looked faintly embarrassed at that.
Harper snorted a bit. "Lovely," she muttered. |
Shea just grinned a bit at them; she wasn't quite as modest about herself.
"I'll write them down," she said. "No problem." |
"Great, thanks." When Harper nodded her agreement, Desmond grinned briefly. "I'll see about getting that done this morning, then, so you two don't have to hide all the time." Now he just had to find paper for them and then see Ezio about borrowing some money.
|
Shea nodded. She wanted to be able to explore the city, now that it was daylight, but she would stick out in her jeans and hoodie.
"We can hang out here until things are straightened out," she said. |
"Good. I'll be back in a minute to get you to write stuff down for me." Desmond slipped off to go find Ezio again and see what they could do about getting clothes for the girls.
|
Shea nodded and settled in to wait.
Ezio was in the middle of taking care of his weapons, cleaning and oiling and polishing until everything was perfect. |
Desmond knocked lightly on the wall to get his attention.
"We're all in agreement that we'll stay for a while, but we'll need to get some clothes. I think I'm close enough I can borrow something of yours for today, but the girls need their own things." |
Ezio nodded.
"Of course you may borrow something of mine," he said. "But it will take a little time to have something made for them." |
"They've been warned about that. I was going to get their measurements and find someone today to make things for them." Desmond shrugged. "That will be good enough for the moment."
|
Ezio nodded.
"And their weapons?" he asked. "I assume their blades are in good condition, but are they armed otherwise?" |
"Knives and a few other things," Desmond said. "We're all armed, and we should be fine for a little while yet."
|
"Alright." Ezio nodded. "Then it would be best to have your comrades dressed properly as soon as possible. Come with me, I'm sure I have something you can borrow for the time being." Putting his weapons away, Ezio gestured for Desmond to follow.
|
Desmond followed him without question. "Some paper would be helpful if you have some handy. So the girls can write down what they need and I don't have to memorize things."
