"Musicians"
It irks me when I'm at the keyboard and someone appears who wants to "play" and just bangs the keys around. If you cannot play anything and you are not here to learn, step away from the instrument.
To keep discussion going, how many of you play an instrument? Which one(s)? |
I've been a 'band geek' for years, even if I've graduated I still consider myself one. Over the years (school years, may not be consistent years, time line also does not continue beyond school) I've played the following:
Clarinet - 1 year Oboe - 7 years Xylophone/keyboard - 4 years Sousaphone (marching tuba) - 2 years Crash symbols - 2 years Alto-Sax - 1 year Oboe was my main instrument in school but I couldn't march with it (due to expensive reeds and I was told it is not made for outdoor conditions) so I had to pick up other instruments for pep band. My favorite pep instrument was probably the alto-sax which makes me sad that I wasn't asked to play it before my Senior year. At some point I hope to pick the alto-sax back up again and even get my hands on some good oboe music to play. I know there are local adult bands and I should look into getting into one of those. I do also own an acoustic guitar. I never fully learned it, but I like to play with it and strum the few chords that I learned over the 8+ years I've owned it. |
i had a guitar and my father gave it to a friend i wish i could play Maria-Minamino is a music teacher |
I played the clarinet for about a year when i first started secondary school, so i was 12/13 around that time. The teacher used to tell me i was good at it, and picking it up quite quickly, but i never considered that to be true, and i have absolutely no aptitude for anything musical. My main problem is that i am completely tone deaf. I can't tell what's coming or going, what instruments make up a piece. I'm pretty useless in that respect, and i can't deal with my hands and fingers doing different things in rapid succession.
I always wished i could play either the piano (my fingers are to short for chords) or the violin though. I could just sit and listen four hours to pretty much anything like that. |
