Steve chuckled at that and made his way to the screen, scrolling down to the first post and starting to read through everything.
"You know how the basic blog controls work, right?" Laurel said. "Tag searching and things like that? My tags are a bit weird, but I try to keep them consistent for search function reasons."
Steve nodded. "I know how that works," he agreed. "For now I figured I'll just read straight through."
"Alright," Laurel said. She grinned. "Let me know if there's anything in particular you're having trouble finding, I'll try to remember the tags I used."
Steve chuckled but nodded, going back to reading. This would be interesting, to read about the events from a civilian point of view.
Laurel watched him for a few moments, and then wandered her way into the kitchen to make some tea. She would check back in in a few minutes.
It took Steve a while to read everything; some of their posts were long and in-depth, and he didn't want to miss anything.
By that point, Laurel had come back in with a mug of tea and a stack of grilled cheese sandwiches. She wordlessly set the plate down next to him, took two sandwiches for herself, and sat back to observe.
Steve looked at the plate, snorted and grinned, and took one to eat as he kept reading. It was pretty tasty.
"Thanks." |
"My pleasure," Laurel said. "Figured I couldn't really go wrong with grilled cheese."
"Grilled cheese is always good," Steve agreed with a bit of a grin.
"Man after my own heart," Laurel said, a little teasingly. "Remind me next time, I'll make soup to go with it. Grilled cheese and tomato-rice soup is the best thing."
"I dunno about tomato-rice soup, but tomato soup is always good," Steve said with a grin. "Had a lot of that growing up."
"Rice adds more substance," Laurel said. "So it's got a little something in it once the sandwich is gone. It's good stuff, you might like it."
Steve nodded. "I'll give it a try sometime," he agreed.
"Great," Laurel said. She moved over so she was on the same couch. "So what do you think of the blog?"
"I like it. It's not really biased, it's got a lot of good information on it..." Steve shrugged. "So far, anyway."
"We do our best," Laurel said. "Though I will admit, the research is definitely not boring." She looked at him. "Anything you want us to put up?"
Steve shrugged. "Nothing I can think of," he said honestly. "You're doing a good job so far, just keep it up."
"Thanks," Laurel said, trying and failing not to turn the slightest bit pink. The compliment had been ridiculously sincere. "Speak up if there's anything you end up wanting us to post, alright?"
"Will do," Steve agreed with a little smile. He went back to reading, munching on the sandwiches contentedly.
Laurel grinned and bit and left him to it, going to explore the tower a bit for a little while.
A few weeks later, Tony decided that the girls needed to properly settle in and relax around the team. And the best way to do that was food and alcohol. So he ordered enough food to feed the team plus a few extras (namely Coulson and Darcy) and enough alcohol to get everyone at least nice and loosened up.
Laurel was a little apprehensive about the alcohol. She wasn't much of a drinker, and since she hadn't really experimented at all in college, she had no idea where her limit was. So she got herself one drink and slowly worked on it.
Everyone settled in to dinner and alcohol and chatting easily, except the two girls. Doreen mostly sat out and watched, working on one beer for the moment. She wasn't quite comfortable enough that she felt okay just jumping into the conversation.
