The main problems with everything I try to write can be tied to the fact that I'm still so young and maturing mentally and therefore shouldn't write such long things yet. When you do that, if you DO manage to have the focus to finish it, you'll find you don't like the older parts of the story. That's exactly what I'm going through. EXACTLY. Can't finish and don't like what work I do later.
That has had me frustrated for over four years, and only now do I see someone explain what's wrong. That could've saved me so much failed effort. I guess it helped me learn to write better. *grumble grumble* |
I've had that happen frequently when I'd try to use old academic papers. Life experience often shapes other types of written work. Sorry it's so frustrating, isn't it?

And then when I do get to the point where I cringe reading the old writing… DESTROY.

HIM's seen a lot of fanfic writers go back and rewrite stories because they're older sometimes it turns out better other times they should've left the old version alone
