tell them to go to the US if they want a life guard... unless they are going to some of the northern states.

HIM_ROCK 03-13-2014 09:32 PM

People need to check with their tour guides rather than taking it for granted then complaining. It's pretty much only the UK and US who have life guards, with the excpetion of some private beaches where you pay to get on.

HIM's 22 and HIM's mum still keeps an eye on HIM when we go to the beach on holiday or on a boat trip where you get to go swimming off the boat.

Lunna Dea 03-13-2014 09:41 PM

it is always wise for people to keep an eye on their friends/family when they are swimming in nature. even in just a pool it is wise to have some one there to watch you.

Dystopia 03-13-2014 09:57 PM

:D I can't swim so this isn't a worry for me.

HIM_ROCK 03-13-2014 10:06 PM

HIM's pretty sue Dys isn't one who thinks attempting to learn to swim with no life gaurd is a good idea. Then have to have someone jump in to drag you out.

HIM knows someone who did something similar, they weren't a very good swimmer and didn't realize there was a big shelf when going to the sea and ended up being dragged out by two burly Brits.

Dystopia 03-13-2014 10:14 PM

I think attempting to learn to swim in general is a bad idea, but a worse one without a lifeguard.

Were they handsome burly Brits?

Citrus Hammer 03-13-2014 10:19 PM

HOW TO LEARN TO SWIM:

1) Get a noodle
2) Ride said noodle in the pool
3) Get knocked off said noodle
4) Flail until you're swimming like a boss

HIM_ROCK 03-13-2014 10:22 PM

HIM doesn't think that they were paying attention to that having just been dragged out.

There seems to be quite a few people who aren't strong swimmers that go on boat trips and then want to go swimming. Please don't they might have noodles but no one has made any adult water wings yet.

If you're going to learn to swim it's best to do it at swimming lessons even adult ones because the instructor will never let you get out of your depth.

5) Do instructions in the Dead Sea.

Dystopia 03-13-2014 10:23 PM

@ Citrus - You mean "Drown."

@ Himmie - Iunno man, I feel like that's something I'd take note of. If I'm gonna drown, I at least wanna be dragged out by handsome burly Brits.

HIM_ROCK 03-13-2014 10:25 PM

If you have an accident somewhere with no life guard make sure you have some heroic Brits round.

Dystopia 03-13-2014 10:26 PM

Exactly.

UK has life guards? They must be less uncivilized than I thought? Soon you will be saying they walk on two legs.

Silly HIM.
No one thinks they have to take responsibility for their own actions.
