Areku was searching for the scroll of his, having a feeling that one of the fighting styles would be perfect for Hikari. Looking throughout all of his stuff, he finally found it underneath his bed. When he went to reach for it, however, he also felt a loose floorboard. 'Interesting...' he thought.
"First of all, what type of fighting do you want to employ? Hard and fast, counter, etc. Answer that for me and then I can begin teaching you," Amaya said. She didn't want to teach her something that she didn't have the hear to use after all. |
Hikari bit her lip and thought for a moment. "Well...my personality plays towards a more offensive style. You know, striking first, hard, and not letting up. But I'll need to work on defense as well, to cover my weak spots." She said, thinking strategically.
"A great offense is the best defense type of girl...okay, I can work with that," she replied.
Hikari smiled. She was glad Maya knew what she meant. "Okay then. So...what do I do first?"
"There's a few styles that focus more on offense than defense: karate for one but there also some styles of Kung-Fu as well, which is what I think Ark-kun is looking for," Amaya replied.
Hikari perked up. "I've always wanted to learn karate. For some reason, my parents were never willing to let me try." She said.
((Wolfie actually knows karate. She took it for years.)) |
(Phoenix has also taken karate)
"Then let's begin... she said, while silently wondering where Areku was... |
((Cool! Karate was the one thing Wolfie was ever really good at. She had a passion for it. Unfortunately, she only got so far before her grandfather, who owned the dojo she went to, died. The dojo didn't continue, and Wolfie couldn't afford to go to another. She wants to get back into it so badly...))
Hikari nodded and did as she was instructed, a small part of her wondering where Ark had gotten off to. |
Areku finally returned. Not only with the scroll that he was looking for, but also an interesting story to tell the girls.
Hikari looked up at the sound of approaching footsteps, and smiled. "Ark-san, you're back! What took you so long?" She asked.
"Sorry, I didn't realize I was gone that long Hika-chan," Areku said with a sheepish grin on his face. Though he wondered if anything interesting happened while he was gone.
Hikari nodded. "Don't worry, it's okay. Maya-chan has been teaching me a little karate, because it seems to fit my style and I've always wanted to learn. And guess what?" She said, eyes shining with excitement, "I'm not horrible at it! Maya-chan taught me a few things, and I actually learned them!" She exclaimed.
"Really now? That's great!" he exclaimed, happy for her. "Sorry about storming off earlier. I wasn't mad at you, but at the people who said you weren't worthy of being trained," he explained.
"It's okay, really. I understand." Kari said with a smile.
"Thanks for understanding. Also, I think I found something that you'll find interesting," Areku said as he brought out the scroll that he was looking for in their room. He had actually brought two of them, one that held the non-weapon kata forms in them, the other holding weapon katas.
Hikari perked up and was instantly at Ark's side, staring at the scroll. "What is it? I mean, it's a scroll, obviously, but what's inside?" She asked excitedly.
"Something to help you on your training. Since Maya-chan is helping you with the taijutsu, I'll help you with your kenjutsu," he replied after getting his chuckles under control. Obviously it was a scroll...
"Um...what's kenjutsu?" Hikari asked, a sweatdrop running down the back of her head.
Ark chuckled lightly for a few seconds. "Sorry, I forgot for a second. Kenjutsu is equivalent to sword styles," he explained.
Hikari's eyes widened and sparkled. She was a bit of a weapons geek, and specialized in blades- as evidenced by her weapons. "Swords?! Are there styles that I can use with my scissor blades?" She asked.
"I'm sure that we can change some things up. I use the Dual Sword style that's in there myself when I have to pull my swords out," Areku admitted. "But there could be other things within that scroll that could be useful to you Leader-chan," he added with a light tease.
Kari rolled her eyes at the tease. "Yeah, okay. So let's see then!" She said.
Ark chuckled lightly as he unfolded the scroll for her.
Hikari moved in closer to read what was written on the scroll. For the first time ever, she was really excited to start learning.
"While you read that, I'm going to get some training in. I'll be nearby if you have any questions, okay?" he asked.
"Um...Ark-kun? Do you think we can have a spar?" she asked. |
