"No flunkies that we can see," Sam corrected. "Although it doesn't look like they have any inside, either." That did make their job easier, that was nice. That almost never happened.
|
"Then let's get in there and get this done," Dean said, drawing a machete. "Daylight's burning."
|
Sam drew his own machete and moved towards the front door for now. Might as well. Time to get this over with.
|
Honestly taking out the nest wasn't hard at all. Dean was pretty sure any hunter with a machete and salt gun could have done it, even a newbie. It wasn't anywhere near a challenge. When they were done, he quickly wiped off the machete blade and put it away.
"That was stupidly easy," he commented. |
"Yeah, it was." Sam cleaned off his own blade, looking around. "I didn't see any humans around, but I also saw a couple of rooms we haven't investigated yet."
|
"May as well go look," Dean said. "Just in case."
|
Sam nodded and started towards the first room. He paused when he felt the ground quake a little under them.
"That wasn't just me, was it?" |
"Okay, what the hell?" Dean said, standing still. "That was an earthquake. We're definitely not in earthquake country, Sammy, that wasn't normal."
|
"No that wasn't normal," Sam agreed, frowning. He had a thought, but he wasn't going to consider it until he had a little more evidence. "Come on, let's see who else is in here."
|
"Yeah, let's finish this up," Dean agreed, nodding. He held his flashlight in one hand and his machete in the other and started going through the remaining rooms.
|
Sam paused when he noticed ice on the floor in front of one door, and he pulled it open after a brief moment of hesitation.
Another small tremor shook the earth, and Sam swore quietly. |
Dean stopped when he heard his brother.
"Sammy?" he asked warily. |
Sam beckoned him over. Well, at least they wouldn't have to look too far for the two girls anymore. One of them was in the room he'd just opened up.
|
Dean went over and lifted the flashlight again, opening the door a bit more and shining the light in. Clearly, the weird shit for the day wasn't over yet.
|
The ground rumbled, only a little tiny quake this time, as Tiana looked up at them from her place in a corner.
Sam moved a bit and crouched down near the girls to get a better look at them. |
Avery scrambled back a bit when Sam came into the room, and frost bloomed on the ground wherever she touched it.
"Sammy?" Dean asked from the door, his voice low. "What'd you find?" |
Sam glanced back at him briefly. "They have two people here," he said, his voice quiet. "It's alright, we're not going to hurt you," he said to Avery and Tiana. "I promise."
|
Avery watched him, her eyes wide. Frost still spread out from her hands where they were splayed on the ground.
Dean swore quietly when the ground rumbled again. "Come on, Sammy," he said. "Let's get them out of here before this place comes down on our heads." |
Sam nodded and moved forward carefully. He didn't offer Avery a hand up, but he did manage to lift her up by her elbows, making sure she was steady.
"Come on, let's get back to the car. You're safe now." Tiana watched them, managing to calm down enough that she probably wouldn't cause any more earthquakes. No big ones, anyway. Just little tremors. |
Avery was trembling a bit even as she got to her feet. The cloth of her shirt protected the guy from getting hurt, but the fabric definitely had a bit of a chill to it.
Once Sam had the girl out of the way, Dean went in and helped the other one to her feet. |
Sam noticed but he didn't mind. Instead he helped steady her as he took her outside.
"You alright?" he asked. "Did they hurt you at all?" Tiana flinched a little but let him help her. She was still shaking though, and every once in a while the ground under her feet would shake a little with her. |
Avery just shook her head, still trembling a bit.
"'M fine," she mumbled. "Easy," Dean said quietly as he got the other girl outside. "The monsters are all dead, everything's fine now." Once they were outside, he let her go, although he did notice that the ground tremors didn't stop. "You alright? Not hurt or anything?" |
"Good," Sam said. "This is going to sound odd, I know, but I need to know. Did any of them bleed on you? Did they give you anything to eat or drink?"
Tiana nodded a little after a moment. "Not hurt," she agreed, her voice a little raspy. |
Avery shook her head.
"No," she said quietly. "No, nothing." "Good," Dean said. "What happened? How'd they grab you?" |
"Good, that's good." Sam smiled a bit at her reassuringly. "You'll be fine, then."
Tiana was quiet for a moment. "We were driving through, one of them was laying next to the road, looked like he'd been hurt. I pulled over despite my friend telling me not to, and next thing we knew, we were inside." |
