Okay... this is really rough, because understandably most people don't know what they want to do yet, and I don't have the brainpower right now to read through the entire thread. If I've put anyone down for something they aren't interested in, let me know and I'll change things.

Calendar
I've already done a little pre-planning-- mostly a calendar of deadlines and a bit of a budget: I almost named this section 'Deadlines,' because I'm a fan of getting things done early. Pre-planning means less stress! Also, I'm tentatively setting this up for June 14-21, but that can change if it interferes with other plans!

Sticky Thread Suggestions
These should be appropriate for most themes with only a few changes. We can be more specific when the theme is finalized! And of course we don't have to use them all.

I don't know a whole lot about running an event, so there may be expenses I don't know about. If you spot something I've overlooked, please let me know!
Budget Required Fees:
I'm fairly certain donations will go above a paltry 7000g, which is partly why I'm tallying the donations on June 1 up there in the calendar. It will give us plenty of time to divide up the gold and items more or less equally between all of the sticky threads. Anything donated after June 1 will be given as page prizes or a raffle or some such. Also, I don't know if we've historically paid the artists who do the advertising banners. If we haven't, I think we should pay for them as thanks at the very least. Artsy stuff is hard work, and while the hosts will get gold just from all the posting they'll be doing, the artists deserve rewards, too! Edit: It looks like banners will run at least 250g/ea. Ooo I actually really like the idea of an Arabian Nights/Genie theme. Genie's Granting wishes could be a cool thing! Something similar to the wishing tree but maybe like a lamp? I wouldn't mind helping out with a thread like that if it that turns out to be the theme. :) Also I wouldn't mind helping out with art like I did last year for the Willow Moon ball.
Maybe my brain is just being lazy to think of anything else since I just came home from work. Hmmm *ponders other choices to add to the possible party list* Really there are so many... GAH! I'll just sub this thread for now. :D |
I love the idea of something similar to the Wishing Tree! Maybe with a lower price cap, since this is a user-run event. And of course we probably wouldn't be able to grant any leftover wishes.
I really want to run a murder mystery... and we could probably arrange a team dice game and maybe something like the Winter Rumble that Mythos did... Games are easy to come up with. |

I adore this belt, and I may refuse to remove it for at least a month or so. There's nothing at all like it on the rest of Mene. It's just so elegant and it layers perfectly. [heart]
Heh, and I'm very tickled that so far 100% of people who've posted in this thread like the desert/Arabian Nights theme. I've got so many ideas for it. I'll be interested in hearing other peoples' ideas, of course, but obviously I'm biased toward mine. [lol] I was thinking of Desert Winds Caravan for the event name, and have it be, like, a mystical caravan coming into town. |

I'm so used to seeing blueblackrose have a hand in this, do you
know if she is participating in the user-run event this year? An Arabian Nights/Genie theme could be cool! The colors red and tan/brown & some accent colors. Plus deserts, camels, oasis' and genies. A solid possibility! I even like the sound of Desert Winds Caravan as a theme name~ Just throwing ideas around now; What about revisiting suggestions from previous years? Going through those that I can find, these two aren't bad Pirates/Treasure Hunting Magic Academy Something with dinosaurs or monsters could be fun. Prehistoric, time traveling, science lab. Or ocean themed; sailors, under the seas, giant octopus. This is all drabbles really *brainstorms* |
I figure I've got it set up so there's plenty of time to plan... I would like to have more than two people planning, of course. I'm hoping that the link in my signature will help draw people in. If we don't get a few more people before this time next week, I'm going to start pinging people into the thread. :P
I've already sent a message to one of the AAs, asking if the tentative dates I put up will be good, and I've pretty much memorized the user run event thread from the resource center... I got all excited by the last couple of events, so I finally started putting all my planning ideas into a document. And it was all I could do to wait until after FOWN to put it up. I know 6 months is a lot of planning time, but I want it to be as awesome as the festival was.

The masquerade would be cool, but we did just do it last year.
