We would love for you to help out Clarius! Right now we're still taking ideas for themes, but we're also casually brainstorming about possible games and threads. Let us know if you think you might want to co-host a thread. We're hoping to have at least two hosts per thread so we can share the load.

Welcome, Clarius! If you have any theme or game* ideas, we'd love to hear them, or you're just welcome to hang around and get to know us and put your two cents in if you see something you have an opinion on!

* Or fundraising, artwork, banner, organization, advertising, etc ideas. Really, we like ideas. [lol]

I'd love to help host a thread! Though on the weekends I'll tend to be less active (work 12 hour shifts Sat & Sun), will I still be useful in that case?

Hmm... Most of the ideas I would've had for a theme for the event are already up! I'm sure I can come up with one though xD

Clarius: That's why we're doing two hosts per thread-- so someone will be able to cover when you're busy. :) And contributing a theme isn't compulsory, but we love seeing what people come up with-- you might think of the new favorite!

Everyone: I've edited the calendar in the first post to match the current plans as far as voting and such. Let me know if you see an error or something you think should be changed/discussed before it's set in stone.

Everything sounds good, but I'd generally keep the donations before event up a little longer. Someone might learn of the event-in-making late and not be able to get their donation in. They might not be added to prize pools, but maybe as page prizes and so on. The surprise event gift to someone particularly active, etc.

Looks great Wyrm! I had to look twice because the first time I got distracted by the awesome themes. Every time I read the descriptions I get a little more excited about them.

That's a good thought, sadrain... We can alter it so that donations after that window will be page prizes or general prizes for awesomeness. Or a booby prize, if someone's extremely unlucky at some game or something. Or any of a dozen other things. [lol]

If it helps, I'd kind of like 3 waves of signature banners/badges.
  • One for drawing in contributors/volunteers, kind of like 'Help make [Theme name] happen!' and have a link to the planning thread.
  • The second wave we should start using at least a month before the event. Something like '[Theme Name] coming soon, get ready!' with the dates.
  • And then the third would be for during the event... 'Come to [Theme Name]' with a link.

Obviously those are pretty rough, vague ideas, but they're meant to serve as a starting point. Thoughts? [:)]

I kind of went with Mardi Gras because I know a lot more about it than Carnival... I know they're both Fat Tuesday celebrations, but I didn't know how to come up with something that was distinctly Carnival rather than Mardi Gras. I'm open to suggestions!

Yes, voting to narrow the theme will start on the 24th, and on the 1st I'll put up the poll. That gives us a shade more than a week, so everyone should have time to vote who wants to. I'm debating whether to shorten the public poll to about the same length of time... I feel like longer will be a little better for that, but at the same time the sooner we know the theme the sooner we can make serious plans instead of generalizing.

Sadly we have to wait... I'd love to vote sooner, but we really shouldn't. *stares at calendar and wills it to move forward*
